Property Ratings at Manor House Apartments
I’ve lived at Manor House for years, and I really like my bright first floor apartment. From my apartment, I’m close to great restaurants, and I have walked to Art on the Avenue and other fun Del Ray events. I know a lot of my neighbors since the building is full of friendly people. The building is well cared for and the hallways are cleaned every weekday. There are always flowers in the garden at the front doors. The staff in the office are helpful, and maintenance has taken care of things in my apartment right away when I’ve needed them (which hasn’t been often). I highly recommend Manor House Apartments if you are looking for a place to live with nice neighbors and friendly, responsive management.
I was initially attracted to the beautiful grounds and wonderful character filled apartments, but after living here for almost a year, I see that Manor House is so much more. I love the crown moldings, wood floors, vintage bath tiles, but more than that is the warm feeling of "home" I get whenever I enter my apartment, sit in the courtyard or walk through Del Ray. I couldn't ask for a better home. If you have dogs, you'll love it here too, the manager, Melinda is so sweet and always has treats for my puppy.

We have loved living at the Manor House Apartments! The building and grounds are beautiful, exceptionally clean and very well maintained. The location is perfect for walking the neighborhood and feels safe. Del Ray is a great neighborhood! You could not ask for a better management and maintenance team. We appreciated their good communication and the care they give to both the property and the people. We will miss living here!

We've really enjoyed having you with us!! Your apartment was beautifully set up, & we know how much you enjoyed many meals at Junction Bakery around the corner ;-) Please keep in touch!!
We have lived at Manor House for 3+ years, and we have enjoyed and continue to enjoy our apartment and the area. The grounds are well maintained, and the maintenance staff is prompt. The apartment is close to walking trails and is walking distance to Old Town Alexandria, grocery stores, a variety of restaurants, post office, UPS, and much more. We highly recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet and cozy place in Alexandria.

We’re thrilled you enjoyed your cozy, quiet home. Thank you for sharing! Your Manor House Team
I love Manor House Apartments! The management and maintenance teams take a personal interest in the residents, are very quick to respond to maintenance needs & resident concerns, and are so kind, warm and helpful. They really make Manor House a home! And the area, Del Ray, is such an ideal location. What I like about living in Del Ray is the proximity to nice places to eat, shop, fix your car, etc, not more than a 3-10 minute walk from Manor House. It's a very dog-friendly community, with loads of nice parks and walking trails. It's city and small town at the same time, a very interesting and enjoyable combination. I highly recommend staying at Manor House!

We work hard to provide quick & friendly responses to our residents…. So happy to hear we are succeeding !!! :-) Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with MH & Del Ray living. Your Manor House
I have been a tenant at Manor House for two years and have been extremely satisfied. They have met all my expectations and needs especially when repairs come up. Staff have been welcoming and pleasant to communicate with despite busy schedules. The unit I rent is well maintained, cozy, and modern. I enjoy the Del Ray neighborhood and feel safe even to walk as a single female later in the evening. Neighbors look out for one another and the area is very family and pet friendly. What’s great about living here is easy access by foot to restaurants, grocery, mechanic, and even pharmacy! Being at Manor House has been just the right fit for a place to call home!

We lived in Manor House and have no complaints. The apartment we were in was spacious with plenty of natural light, loved the hardwood floors and vintage tile in bathroom. The neighborhood is quiet and walkable. The building was secure which makes you feel safe being there. Was a great place to live and would recommend this place to friends.

the vintage charm of Manor House & walking around the Del Ray neighborhood! Thank you for sharing your positive experience with others. - Your Manor House Team
I moved to Manor House in 2019 and chose it for its charm and simplicity over the cookie cutter high-rises with $$$$ amenity fees. Manor House has a lovely courtyard where I met and became friends with many neighbors, and would enjoy happy hours in the summer and the an annual Christmas floral arranging party which came to be during Covid. If you like buildings with character and charm like parquet floors, high ceilings, plantation shutters, and lovely wood moulding and baseboards, you'll love Manor House. I would have stayed if I could, the neighbors and staff will be missed.

We'll miss seeing you & Birdie on your walks around the property & the neighborhood :-) You added so much to the community as a great & fun neighbor. We're so glad you really enjoyed making Manor House your home. - Manor House Team
Imagine a charming pre-war building in a prime location with a gorgeous patio and landscaping.... Looks great on the outside, but on the inside is administrative and maintenance mess. New property managers / companies cycle in and out on an annual basis. The property manager may or may not follow the lease and the law. Air conditioning is hit or miss. If the landlord / property management of the year is using licensed tradespersons to make repairs inside of the apartments, you'd never know. Landlord allegedly will pay former tenants for positive reviews, however. In sum: rent at your own risk. Given current rental rates at this property, there are better options.
Manor House has been a wonderful place to live. The apartments are beautiful, management is responsive and reliable, and the price is very reasonable for this area. I haven’t had any pest issues. I’ve heard neighbors occasionally, but the walls are thick and people are respectful so it hasn’t been an issue for me.

We had a great 2 years living in Manor House. The apartment was spacious, maintenance was always prompt and easy to access. The neighborhood is quiet but also isn't too far from Old Town Alexandria. Very pet-friendly, great people and a beautiful courtyard.

If you are looking for a quiet and nice community this is the place for you. Management and maintenance is always well maintained. There is always places to park and nearby shops and convenience stores to visit. Laundry is easy to do because there is a sign up sheet and there is never a problem with that. It is a very pet friendly apartment community and there is even a large dog park nearby. I always take my dog to new places around the neighborhood. Sometimes when it rains, I end up just taking him to the pet area right outside the apartment building. There was always great light in my unit and I never had any problems with the appliances in my unit. They also make sure that they maintain regular pest control by coming to the apartment to perform pest sprays in the bathroom and kitchen. Never had a pest problem. Management and staff are very nice and always helpful.
I’ve lived at Manor House for about a year and have loved it! The units are homey- beautiful hardwood floors, lots of windows, built-in bookshelves - and very spacious. The property and grounds are also very well maintained. The property manager, Uma, is very friendly and responsive. The maintenance team, including George and Jorge, are always quick to respond to maintenance requests. The location of Manor House is also great, with lots of coffee shops, restaurants, running trails, etc nearby in Del Ray. Thank you Manor House!!
Manor House was my home for 4 wonderful years! The location could not be better— it’s walking distance to a variety of local shops, quaint restaurants and coffee spots, metro stations, and grocery/pharmacy stores. The office management has always been lovely to deal with, responding promptly and politely to all maintenance requests. As a single female, I always felt safe living in the building. And I had zero issues with receiving packages or deliveries, which is critical during the days of online orders and food delivery. My reason for moving out was primarily to explore and experience living in another city. Strongly recommend as a place to live!
This place just feels like home. Manor House is a small apartment complex but has a lot to offer and is a great place to live. Situated in a quiet and safe Del Ray neighborhood, this apartment is conveniently close to D.C., Metro, Reagan airport and within walking distance to great restaurants, cafes, shops, hiking/biking trails, and much more. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and everything is well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and attentive to residents’ needs. If you are looking for modern and sleek, or amenities like a fitness center or dog-washing station, this place may not be for you. However, if you want something that has a lot of charm and elegance and is a great value, this is a place worth checking out.
Manor House Apartments has been the only placed I have lived in Virginia since I moved here in 2019. The area is extremely walkable, the maintenance crew is quick and courteous, and the building has a great classic feel to it. I am happy that I live here in the Del Ray community.
I have been thoroughly enjoying my time at Manor House Apartments. The neighborhood is beautiful, and safe, while still being walking distance or a short drive away from the more fun parts of the town. The Delray farmers market every Saturday is definitely a highlight of the area. The building is always clean and well-maintained, and the one time my apartment needed some repair on the bedroom door, the maintenance team was there the very same day to fix it. Overall, I’ve very much loved my experience of living in Manor house apartments and will recommend to anyone looking for a well maintained building in a safe and beautiful neighborhood
Manor House Apartments are a GEM and a perfect alternative to the sea of sterile concrete high-rises popping up all around Alexandria. I was fortunate to rent my apartment sight unseen from Charleston, SC., with the help of the staff at Manor House. They are very responsive, helpful and communicative - often going above and beyond to ensure that tenants are happy. I love the historic charm of Manor House and the attention to detail - making each apartment that I've seen unique, classic and cozy - with gorgeous hardwood floors, lots of natural light, pristine grounds, and charming vintage interior details. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that most of my neighbors are quiet and considerate of others, making Manor House a good place to consider if you have a stressful job and often need rest. That being said, it is important to keep in mind that this is an older building - so, with the charm comes the occasional creaky floor board. Overall, the benefits of living at Manor House are evident. I really enjoy my apartment as well as the proximity to the Del Ray area. And best of all - my doggie loves it too!
I relocated from Los Angeles to Alexandria in September and signed a lease at Manor House without ever having seen it in person. It could have gone horribly wrong, but it’s been just the opposite experience. Beautifully kept, friendly, respectful, clean, safe, and a beautiful canvas to create a place and feeling of home for yourself. As a 20 something working professional, with a small cat haha- Manor House is and has been the perfect place for me to call home. I would recommend it to anyone interested. The hardwood is original, the neighborhood is full of families and cute restaurants, parking is easy, and the staff are the sweetest!
Overall, Manor House has been a great place to live for the past two years. There are a number of things that I am very happy with here: There is a sign up sheet system for the laundry room that works very well. The maintenance staff is friendly and attentive. Parking is always convenient with the private parking lot (free street parking when the lot is full). Pest control services your apartment every three months and I’ve never had a bug issue. The residents are friendly and the community is safe. The location is an adorable neighborhood in Del Ray that is less then a 1 mile walk to both Braddock Rd metro station and King St metro station. There is also a DASH bus stop on the corner of Commonwealth and Nelson that will take you to the metro in ~5 minutes (great when it’s a rainy day!). If you are sensitive to noise, I recommend you lease an apartment on the third floor so you don’t have anyone walking above you. I had a first floor apartment the first year and a third floor apartment the second year, and I must say the third floor was much quieter. That said, I’ve truly enjoyed my time at Manor House and I highly recommend you consider this community if you’re looking in the DC area. If my commute were more manageable, I’d stay here in a heartbeat.
We've lived here for just under 1.5 years and have absolutely loved it. It's the best apartment we've ever called home, and if we weren't buying a house, we'd definitely continue renting here. Reasons why we love this place: - It's got all the charm of a historic home with the important modern updates you need. - The layout of the space is really well designed so that the dining space, living space, and kitchen are all separate. This is the smallest apartment we’ve ever lived in, but it feels like the biggest with the clever floor plan. - Our dogs also love this apartment. We have easy access to the pet area, and lots of parks within walking distance. It's been a great place to keep our pets. - On nice days, we love to spend time in the courtyard under the huge magnolia tree and ash tree. It never feels overcrowded or abandoned, and is always well maintained. - The neighbors are really friendly. There are some long-time residents which definitely makes the place feel like a home. - The staff is attentive, considerate, and generous. We’ve only ever had positive experiences with maintenance and front office. The current building manager LaNia has been great to work with! - The laundry room system. There’s a sign-up sheet which helps to ensure you’ll always have access to the machines. Plus the little library in the laundry room is pretty cool. - Periodically there is work that needs to be done around the building, which just shows how much effort they put into maintaining this place. It’s never felt like a construction zone. - There is regularly scheduled pest control, and no evidence of bugs or rodents anywhere! We’ve never lived in an apartment that had this amenity, and it is really appreciated.

We have lived in property managed by Manorhouse for the past 1 1/2 yrs. Mike and Olivia have been a pleasure to deal with and have made sure that issues that have come in our apartment up are handled promptly. We appreciate the courteous communication from LaNia to care for the specifics repairs done in our apartment. The entire Manorhouse team has provided outstanding customer service, it has made our time living in the convenient neighborhood of Del Ray even more enjoyable!
Manor House has been fantastic. Very well run and well-kept property where you can truly feel at home. Well taken care of grounds and a highly amenable/professional staff that was nothing but top-notch. If you are looking for a place to live in Alexandria look no further. You cannot beat the price, location, and quality of living. Thanks for the awesome 3 years!

Brad, Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience at Manor House. We are thrilled to know that you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed having you. We wish you nothing but the best, and please let us know if there is anything we can ever do for you in the future.
After living in a few different apartments in the area over the years, I fell in love with Manor House upon first tour. The floors, the lighting, the French doors and classic charming set up of the apartment. Building is solid, old school in the most polished way, and quiet. 15 minute walk to heart main King street/ 5 minute walk from awesome downtown Del Ray. I definitely see myself resigning my lease. Which is unfortunate for interested parties :)
This place has been more than welcoming for Rocko (my Maltese) and me for the past 2.5 years. Although I was worried when I first heard that we will have new property managers, I was pleased to see the same care and consideration that was exhibited by the previous owners. For that, I will truly miss this place. I know when I first moved here, my Rocko was a puppy and was prone to barking while I was at work during the day. Instead of sending me a threatening email, they notified me of his barking and offer suggestions on how to remedy the situation (a method I still use to this day! [Leave the TV on]). The neighbors are so nice! So many good dogs living here. The neighborhood is so nice and quiet. I will say that no place is without its fair share of problems. However, that gives Manor House Apartments 5 stars is how well they handled the situations. Maintenance response is impeccable! I've had issues with my unit resolved within 24 hours of first notification. They will send you fruits every year as a "Thank You" for still living there. The apartment manager will stop and speak with you in the courtyard or hallway. The maintenance guys are super friendly and can hold great conversations. I am leaving because my boyfriend of 3 years and I are moving in together. We had considered Manor House Apartments to be a possible living space. However, due to my graduate research at Johns Hopkins APL and Carnegie Institution of Science and my boyfriend’s desire to be close to his graduate program at George Washington University, we deemed it appropriate to move to a new location in DC. I will continue to use the kindness, warmth, and professionalism of Manor House Apartments as a metric for future living locations.
Manor House was the perfect place for us to begin our lives in Alexandria. My wife and I had gotten jobs in late 2016 in Alexandria from out of state. I was put in charge of working out our living arrangements in Alexandria while my wife was getting everything else wrapped up back home. I was looking for a place to live that had some character and not just another apartment in a large mega apartment complex. I liked that Manor House was quite old yet well maintained. I remember touring the demo/office unit and immediately liking it. It seemed to fit all our needs. That day I put down the deposit and we were on our way to becoming permanent residents in Alexandria. The icing on the cake is the great little perks that come to living at Manor House. The bike share is on the corner, the great courtyard with the community grills, the magnolia trees, not to mention being walking distance of all the great restaurants in Del Ray. I really can't say it that we have been so lucky to get that apartment and now we have a house still in the neighborhood
If you are looking for a quaint, charming, comfortable, friendly environment to live, Manor House is your one-stop shop. I’ve lived at Manor House since September 2016. The staff are the friendliest. I’ve found them to be very attentive/responsive to every request I’d made. I felt very comfortable making Manor House my home… And, it felt like a home. The added amenities: the hardwood floors, the crown molding, and in my place, were these nice white cabinets in the kitchen that made it feel very modern. Most of my friends who visited me always commented on it being a nice apartment. When I moved there, I had planned to stay a very long time, but then nearly 3 years is a long time. I will miss the Staff. And Hannah, although she has been there the least, she is very helpful and really tries to accommodate you in every way.
Manor House has been my home for the last 3 years, and it has been a great place to live! I've made good friends in the building, too My apartment was on the top floor, and it was always quiet. The management from TPP is responsive and professional! Hannah, Jeff, Dean, Olivia, Mike, Red and George take great care of the property and the residents. The neighborhood, Del Ray, is perfect since it is close to DC but has the quiet peace that I'm looking for when I leave the city. My new home is in Del Ray as well, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone from Manor House in the neighborhood!
My wife and I loved our two and a half years in the Nelson building of Manor House Apartments. It is a family-owned, remarkably well-maintained property with attentive management, located in a wonderful neighborhood. Manor House is in a quiet section of Del Ray, convenient to DC Metro, the shops and restaurants on Mount Vernon Ave., Old Town, Potomac Yard, Reagan Airport, etc. We lived there without a car for over a year; my daily commute included a pleasant 20-minute walk to and from King Street Station. Braddock Station is even closer by foot. And if you don’t feel like walking you can take Metro or DASH buses. The layout of our unit was very usable. The bedroom and living room were spacious; we had a walk-in storage closet; and we had a dining room. The kitchen is perhaps not as large as in contemporary apartments, but it was recently upgraded and it worked well for us. During our time there, management always responded promptly to service requests. One of the maintenance guys is a member of the family who owns the property; he lives on the premises and is a kind and generous person. Parking is convenient. The buildings have their own lot; when full, it’s generally not a problem to find a spot on the street within a block, if not right out front. The shared laundry room is kept clean and in good working order. There is a notebook where residents sign up for time slots to use the machines. The system works quite well. The laundry rooms also feature small libraries of books free for residents to borrow. We had very few complaints about our apartment. In the winter we did have an issue with repeated incursions of mold in our unit, which mostly we dealt with on our own, but when it eventually became too much and we informed the management about it, they responded promptly to clean the mold and treat the walls. We appreciated the quick response. We made a lot of friends among our neighbors at Manor House. People living there are respectful and mature. As with any rental property, turnover is fairly high, but we did know some folks who had stayed there for a number of years. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it to others. We found the rent to be quite reasonable for the area, especially considering the value provided by the location, the quality of the apartment, and the responsiveness of the management.
Manor House is a wonderful place with a neighborhood feel in a quiet and quaint community. If you want to live in trendy Del Ray, walk to “The Ave” (For non-locals, Mt. Vernon Ave has lots shops and restaurants) for an affordable price, you should live here! I’ve been a resident for two years and would continue to reside here if I wasn’t relocating out of state. The owners and staff are very friendly, responsive, and helpful! You can have a sit in the well landscaped, shared, courtyard and meet a neighbor or two, there is a library of books in the laundry room, and usually an item or two that someone wants to give away, you know what they say… one person’s junk is another person’s treasure. At Manor House you have the charm of a vintage building with modern updates. When I first moved in, I was concerned about the shared washer / dryer… but the sign-up sheets really work, it’s totally a non-issue, don’t let that deter you. You can walk (20 minutes), ride bike (10 minutes), or take a bus (the bus stop is across the street) to King St. (Old Town, Alexandria) and from there you can hop on Metro to D.C. or Arlington. If you’re considering a rental in Alexandria, I recommend checking out Manor House, you will be glad you did.
Myself and my partner just moved from Manor House apartments and we couldn't have been happier with everything about the building. Olivia and the staff there are quick to respond, friendly and compassionate. We will miss Manor House Apartments, but recommend it to anyone!
You couldn’t find a better place to live. I’ve lived at Manor House apartments for 9 years. The apartments are wonderful and the building is well cared for by friendly and attentive staff. I love it so much that I’m upgrading to a larger apartment. It’s also a great neighborhood. We’re walking distance to plenty of great restaurants, coffee shops, farmers market and the metro. You’ll definitely be happy living here.
We've lived at Manor House for about 2.5 years and have loved our time here! Our 1 bedroom has been a perfect size for me and my husband, and exactly what we needed for the past few years. We're only leaving because we just purchased our first home just a few blocks away :) Thrilled to be able to stay in the neighborhood! Few highlights: Gorgeous hardwood floors - Off kitchen dining space - this was unheard of when we were apt shopping - Super spacious bedroom (we're sad to be leaving this for a much smaller master bedroom) - Endless natural light, the window game is strong! - Kitchen, while small, has everything you need/space is maximized - we became efficiency ninjas in our "two bum kitchen" - Maintenance crew is super friendly, helpful, and fast. Any matter was quickly resolved - Location is incredible. Gorgeous walk to downtown Del Ray, the happiest place on the planet. Only downside we experience during our time here was noise. In general, folks here are very considerate given close living quarters, but the walls are pretty thin - which means you hear most of what's happening next door. Usually wasn't an issue - but something to note, nevertheless. Overall - loved our time at Manor House. We're sad to leave our little nest here, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a spot in Del Ray, can't beat it!
Manor House has provided me with a wonderful living environment. I lived there for 2.5 years and have never had an issue. They do routine bug sprays, probably 3 or 4 times a year which is greatly appreciated. I lived on the first floor and never saw a bug. To me, that’s huge. MAINTENANCE! Best crew in town. I’ve been locked out at 2am, they still helped me out. My drain was clogged, they fixed it the same day. They’re professional and thorough. For Christmas, residents that had been there over two years received Harry & David fruit baskets.. such a nice touch/gesture. The apartments have beautiful hardwood flooring. The landscaping is striking and very well kept. All in all, I can’t thank the staff at Manor House enough for helping make my living experience nothing short of exceptional. I would recommend to anyone.
I lived at Manor House for nearly four years. It is a stunning property that is a beautiful mix of historic charm and modern finishes. From the warm hardwood floors, to the classic crown molding, to the polished stainless steel appliances, it was truly a place I was proud to call home. I'll miss the friendly faces of my neighbors and the attentive staff who always greeted me with a kind smile. I couldn't recommend Manor House more highly.
I lived here for five years and loved it! The location, the charm, the staff, the feeling of home! I would highly recommend Manor House to anyone looking for garden style living with lots of beautiful landscaping, flowers, & large trees. It's very walkable, bikeable, and convenient to metros and buses. Del Ray is a jewel of a neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia! So close to DC, yet feels like a little town with lots of local businesses and a variety of good restaurants to choose from. Manor House Apartments is a great place to call home!
I have lived at Manor House Apartments for almost 2 years, and the only reason I’m moving is that I’ve purchased a home down in North Carolina! I really loved this apartment for a variety of reasons. First of all, it’s got character and charm (hard wood floors, crown moldings, and other details throughout) that make it a cozier home than all of the giant cookie-cutter buildings going up all over Alexandria and Arlington, not to mentioned the updated kitchen with a gas stove. Second, the location – Del Ray is THE best. If I could pick up this neighborhood and take it with me, I 100% would. Mt. Vernon Ave has everything you could want or need (wine shop, cheese shop, good Mexican food, farmers market, pharmacies, nail places, butcher, legit coffee shops, and so many good restaurants), and right across from the apartment here is a great restaurant on the corner of Monroe & Commonwealth. So convenient. Third, the Manor House team has been incredibly responsive and helpful for anything I’ve needed. There was a leak from the apartment above mine into my bathroom and they could not have been quicker to get it resolved. It was repaired super fast, and looking even better than it did before (not to mention my bathroom got a pretty quality cleaning out of this!). The interior and exterior of the building are kept so well maintained and clean (how there are ALWAYS fresh blooming flowers, I don’t quite know, but there are) – right now they’re in the process of updating the paint and hardware throughout the building. Everyone from the maintenance team to the housekeeping team is friendly, attentive, and I feel like they’re keeping a close eye on the building (as a single female, this is much appreciated). I travel A LOT for work, and always felt super comfortable leaving for trips with my car parked in the lot and knowing my apartment would be unattended for 2, sometimes 3 weeks at a time. Overall, I’ve enjoyed my time at Manor House more than any other building I’ve lived in during my 10 years in the area – and if it weren’t for the move to NC and the home buying itch, I’d stay here much longer. Definitely take advantage of an opening here if you see one come up!
My building is perfect for you if you depend on public transportation. The city bus stop is just yards away. Also the Metrobus is a short walk away. King Street metro rail and the Braddock Road metro rail are a minutes walk away. In the heart of Del Ray, you'll be a proud renter at 8 East Monroe Avenue.
