Mountlake Terrace is a fairly small city of around 20,000 residents near the northern shore of Lake Washington. I-5 runs right through the middle of town, putting downtown Seattle less than thirty minutes away. Living in Mountlake Terrace puts you in a great position to explore the natural wonders of Washington State, particularly the sprawling Cascade Mountain nature preserves to the east. Ferry service across Puget Sound makes it easy to reach to Olympic Peninsula as well, allowing for weekend trips to Olympic National Park and the ocean.
There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation closer to home, whether that means spending an afternoon at Lake Ballinger or bringing your dog to the parkland around Lyon Creek. Houses and apartments in the northwest portion of the city have the most convenient access to the Premera offices.

Property Ratings at Aspire Apartments at Mountlake Terrace
I moved into this complex under old management, and I didn't realize it could get worse than it was. Since the new Aspire management has taken over, everything has been like pulling teeth. The only e-mails or phone calls I've had answered ever were only after I gave notice. It's obvious they are wanting to take advantage of the proximity to the future light rail station and increase rents, but seem to do nothing to make actual improvements. They have the audacity to stick 40% rent increases to people renewing their leases. Most of the hand railings around the property are more decoration than functional. Seeing them paint over handrails that are held together by warning tape was a real delight. The dog area is basically either a dust bowl or a mud pit with up to 3 black trash bags of dog waste piled up at any given time. There is a MASSIVE rat infestation. Literal parades of rats coming from the dog area specifically but found all over the property. Trust me this just goes on and on. I couldn't be more disappointed, and have never had such a poor experience in a rental.
The front office staff are liars. If they tell you anything you had better get it in writing. Came into the office prior to move out to ask for some touch up paint and about cleaning the apartment. I was told they do the touch up at no charge as we had lived there for more that two years and it's considered normal ware and tear. I also asked about cleaning. I was told that whether I clean the apartment or not they have an cleaning company they send through at no charge to the me at move out. I was very specific about this point as I have never had an apartment that did not require you to clean before moving out. I was told by the property manager Victoria that all we had to do was remove all the items out and leave no trash. We did exactly as we were told and even still did a lite wipe down of everything. We did a walk through of the apartment which Victoria found odd. I have never lived in apartment that did not complete a final walk through. she said that place looked great and there would be minimal repairs (some damage to their terrible CHEAP vinyl flooring you can damage with your fingernail). Fast forward 2 weeks and I receive my final bill for over $800 including a $180 cleaning fee.
I have never spent this much time writing a review. I want this post to match in length and detail the level of disappointment and deceit we feel from Maple Glen Apartments. I cannot, in good conscience, ever encourage anyone to live here. I would genuinely feel deeply guilty if I did not publicly express the nightmare a new tenant would be moving into. We have never been more unhappy in any living situation and we have never felt more taken advantage of by a company. Even though Maple Glen looked so promising online, and the property manager was very friendly over the phone, the floors and ceiling are in such DIRE need of fixing/soundproofing that we can hear almost every single thing our neighbors do upstairs. It doesn't matter how quietly our neighbors walk, every single step they take comes with creaks louder than the average television. We can hear their conversations, we can hear them open a drawer, put a glass down on their counter, etc. After a long day at work, I'm exhausted and want to come home and relax but I can’t because just by walking around normally, our neighbors create noise LOUDER than the conversations my wife and I have or the music/tv we listen to. And even in those rare moments when the neighbors are gone, they have two large dogs who never cease to cry and howl for hours on end. Sometimes I break down crying just from the stress of not getting any silence or peace at the end of the day. I want to emphasize that the level of noise is truly astonishing. If it wasn’t for the enormous fee attached to breaking our lease early and the other costs associated with moving, we would already be long gone. As surprising as this may sound, the constant sound of the upstairs floorboards squeaking is so loud that is it incredibly rare that either my wife or I have a decent night’s sleep. To make matters worse, our neighbors have an opposite sleep schedule from us, and even with earplugs, my wife and I are still woken up in the middle of the night from the noise of our neighbors coming home from work. I’m well aware that living in an apartment comes with a certain amount of noise, even sometimes loud noise, but what you have here at Maple Glen is truly beyond the pale.
The experience working with the property manager from out of state has been pretty seamless. It felt like i was residing down the street instead of another state. Office maintenance staff have been amazing so for, listening to our concerns and having them addressed in a timely manner. The location of the complex is ideal for any commuters that prefer to take the bus. It's situated between two transit centers (Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood), really gives you some flexibility in your schedule. Both transit centers are literally no more then 5 minutes from the complex by car. The downside from my perspective is that the gym/sauna/indoor spa is not readily available after hours which is pretty inconvenient for me. My work schedule doesn't allow me to utilize the community's amenities like I would. It would be nice if we could get 24 hours access to utilize these amenities. Sharing garages is another downside to this complex, I wish they would have built it to where we all had individual garages. Since we've been here (2 months) my garage neighbor has left our door unlocked and open twice. Visitor parking is ehhhh... okay. Aside from it being an older complex, it's nicely situated and the views from my balcony is stunning. The property management team is working on giving this place a much needed face list from all the wear and tear over the years. I also hear that they are building a dog park and remodeling some of the units, so they are trying to make this place more modern.
I moved here from California in July. Love this place, management maintenance are very friendly and very helpful with any of my questions. There's been a lot of changes in the two months I've been here, which makes it even better Living here. I highly recommend living here. The only reason why I did not give it a 5 Star is due to floor cracking everything u walk around.
