If you're looking for that cozy, small-town feel interspersed with the excitement of a big city, then Wilmington is the place for you. Located in the northern-most portion of Delaware near the Pennsylvania border and close to the city of Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington has plenty to offer no matter what your age or interests. The specific neighborhood of the city that's best for you can vary based on your budget, but some of the more popular neighborhoods include Trolley Square (which is known for its beautiful architecture) and Bradywine Park (which is dotted with lovely parks and nature trails).
If you're the artsy type, you'll love visiting the Delaware Art Museum, located on Kentemere Parkway. Here, you can enjoy viewing work from local and globally known artists ranging anywhere from the mid 1800s to present day. Be sure to visit plenty throughout the year, though, as they're always featuring new exhibits and galleries.

Property Ratings at Maple Walk Apartments
Never in all of my life have I encountered a roach problem quite as bad as I have at Maple Walk Apartments. Picture roaches so engorged on god knows what that they can no longer stick to the wall, so fat that when you pick them up even just gingerly, they pop in the paper towel; it’s disgusting living here. I have complained time and time again to management and each time I get the same limp response, an inexperienced exterminator that sprays the floors and baseboards with Amazon roach killer until it puddles under the counters which has minimal effect on the breeding population of the apartment unit. I am seeing and having to deal with roaches crawling freely in and out of the refrigerator, laying eggs in my shoes, roaming the countertops and festering in plain sight.
This was my first apartment. I moved in September of 2018, by the end of October there was a leak in the roof which caused my ceiling to leak and leave nasty stains. It also ruined my rug and my media console. When brought to the attention of the leasing office my roommate and I were told to “just move the furniture out the way so it doesn’t get wet when it rains. We’re working on fixing the roof.” So until the roof was fixed my ceiling could not be fixed which was their excuse, which I could understand. Coming home to puddles of water , ruined furniture gets old real fast. Since my roommate and i have jobs where we can’t leave on command, our floor would be soaked if it rained while we were at work, which it did often. We tried to combat it but getting a bucket but with so much rain it’ll over flow because we weren’t there to dump it out. Fast forward to February 25th (almost 5 months later) the roof is finally fixed. However, my ceiling is not. I’ve been asking when is my ceiling going to be fixed and I’ve been getting the same old “ it’s going to be a week or two” answer. The most recent call to the leasing office was on April 18 2019. The ceiling is still not fixed. I keep asking and getting the runaround. By the time my ceiling is actually fixed will be the time my lease is up in September it seems like. The whole apartment is nice in the beginning but the cheap materials used begin to show with in the first two months of living here. The walls are cracking in places where we can’t reach. The heat never worked during the winter when you needed it to until you went to the leasing office to complain. The heat either wouldn’t turn on or it would turn on by it’s self and darn near give you a heatstroke l. While it looks nice in the beginning the place is just smoke and mirrors. Very deceptive. I regret signing the lease to this place seriously.
This is my very FIRST apartment, and I have had the worst experience. I can not wait for my lease to be up! I went on vacation only to get back to a dead mice in my room. Who knows how long that thing had been sitting there for, I am absolutely terrified and disgusted by them. About two days later we found another dead mice in my sisters room. I also have an ant problem that hasn't been taken care of and at this point I'm just tired of calling the office 95% of the time they don't pick up anyways. Two weeks after that my room gets flooded YESSS FLOODED! I still hadn't set up my bed so my mattress was on the floor my BRAND NEW MATTRESS that I was so excited to buy. I was told by the guy who calls himself the supervisor that he would be replacing the mattress for me and that was obviously not done. HE LIED! They shut off my heater when this incident happened I was told that it had something to do with the pipes from the heater. My neighbor below me had her room flooded as well the water from my room was going all the way down to her apartment and into what they call there office which would be consider the basement. I had no heater for two weeks if not more. I called about 6 times to get it back on and every time I was told that they would take care of it. After more than 7 days trying to get my heater back on they finally did it. I am absolutely disappointed with the service.

Prior to moving into these “new apartments” I was told that the buildings were redone and have new owners which is why the outside looks a little raddegy and they were fixing them up. After actually seeing the inside of the apartments, I decided to move in because As I was told, No one lived in my apartment as far as new ownership goes. I wish I did more research on these buildings because since being here only 6 months, I have water leaks near my windows and minor things wrong with my apartment but my major complaint is mice mice mice. So many mice and don’t try to call the office because no one will answer so if u find a maintenance worker outside, he will tell you that it is impossible to get rid of the mice because of the big field across from the building and it only gets worst in the winter smh. If it wasn’t for those problems , I would say , go for it but the cost is too high without any amenities what so ever and your guarantee to have mice. My neighbors are always complaining of problems and mice. The owner do try to fix the pest issue by hiring pest control but according to maintenance, that won’t work and it dont. I hear them in my kitchen and under my heating vents all night every night,it’s disgusting. I tried everything except getting a cat. In also, they have the apartments listed as “located in Elsmere” but if you type in the address of the building which is on cypress Ave Wilmington de, you would see the reviews when it was called fern wick apartments or something like that. I am outta here after my lease is up!

I am not a resident, but had been calling several numbers I found online for over a month to get simple leasing information (since there are no real resident reviews or anything online). Finally, I called corporate and after two tries, they said they would hurriedly have the office manager/leasing manager give me a call back. Three weeks after that, a woman who sounded like she had just rolled out of bed calls me saying "I'm returning your call." Firstly, who is this and why wouldn't I have secured a place to live after two months? Is this even a real complex? If they take that long to get back to inquiries, I can only imagine how long work orders take. NEXT!
