From the beauty of the Tennessee River to the fun-filled Market Square, Downtown Knoxville is a neighborhood in motion. Those who might want to see it all (or just take an amazing selfie) head to the iconic Sunsphere for a 360-degree panorama of downtown, the river, and (on a clear day), the Smoky Mountains. The Sunsphere, which resembles a golden disco ball on stilts, was built for the 1982 World’s Fair and stands 266 feet tall.
But as impressive as the Sunsphere may be, it’s just the beginning of Downtown Knoxville’s not-so-hidden treasures. Other amazing destinations include the historic Blount Mansion, the Bijou Theater, Old City Hall, and the James White Fort. For those who enjoy a little shopping and dining with their historic destinations, Market Square, Old City, and Gay Street are sure to be a hit.
Downtown Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee, Zoo Knoxville, and boat cruises on the Tennessee River.

Property Ratings at Maplehurst
Our apartment was in bad need of new carpeting. Very unhappy because I specifically told manager I had allergies and carpeting needed to be comparable to what we were shown before move in. Also sewage smell issue in apartment--- they claimed there was no issue until the pipes blew and there was a sewage overflow. Parking okay for renters but no room for guests. Seems to be a quiet safe area close to campus. Rent too high for condition of apartments.
The apartments are really nice for the price, and very convenient to campus. Appliances are nearly new, carpet looks great, and even late night noise after exams isn't bad... the neighbors seem more mature and responsible than other places near UTK. Staff at the office are very helpful too, its been a pleasure living here. Pets are allowed, but people seem to treat it as a privilege they need to keep... people clean up after their dogs and I never hear animals making a ruckus. Great place to live. :)
This is a perfect place to live for a college student, or any young professional with a larger budget. I can easily walk to work and my classes and every morning wake up to the sound of the church bells and a view of the famous river off Neyland Stadium. It was awesome to watch the last BoomsDay right from the balcony outside my door. The bedroom is very spacious with a walk in closet. Its a nice neighborhood with very sweet and respectful neighbors.
