Property Ratings at Marathon Apartments
I’ve lived here 2 years and in that time was mugged outside the building, and had all my christmas packages stolen from the mailroom over consecutive days due to poor security. The apartments themselves are updated, but the hallways are decrepit and management is lacking.
I've been in this building a long time, and it the quality of it continues to decline while the prices continue to raise. Yes, it has a pool, but it's no one's job to clean it, so it is constantly dirty. Packages are often stolen from the lobby, the whole building's water is routinely shut off for maintenance, and the elevators are slow and frequently breaking. Worst of all, management is constantly changing, and with those changes come new rental policies. Not just increases in rent, but how we pay rent. In the time that I've been here there have been 5 building managers and 2 of them were fired and evicted for stealing money and getting into fights with tenants. Stay away. You can do better!
I lived here a year ago and it was $300 cheaper. That is part of the reason I moved. The apartment manager, Star didn't seem to care about all the noise from neighbors and informed me that was part of living in apartments. Actually, no, that is not something you should have to live with. The upstairs neighbors had hardwood floors and due to lack of proper insulation, you can hear almost everything. (I seriously hear all about her break up one night while she was crying on phone to friend). BUT the location is great! The perk across the street is wonderful if you have a dog and all the shops on sunset junction are a 5 minute walk. The hills make fro great exercising (I gained weight after I moved...lol). But be warn of loud neighbors, poor management , oh and the maintenance men are a little creepy so if you are a single woman, best have a friend over when they are fixing plumbing or ac.
Great location near Sunset Junction! Staff very helpful! It has a pool, garage, laundry! Very good conditions!
A very pet friendly apartment block in the heart of Silverlake with a pool, but at a price… and not just a $$$ price. The cost per sq ft is pretty much on the money for the area, but the paper thin walls can give you some sleepless nights depending on your neighbours. Well maintained and a great building manager, but you might want to check out who your neighbours are, especially if you're not on the top floor, before moving in. The pool and secure parking is a real plus though and the utility bills are on the low side, so worth a few sleepless nights during the year.
