To call Cedar-Isles-Dean a "lakefront" community wouldn't do it justice -- the neighborhood touches three major lakes: Cedar Lake (which extends well into the neighborhood), Lake of the Isles, and Lake Calhoun. The lakes offer a variety of parks, boat launches, and walking trails, such as the North Cedar Lake Regional Trail, Kenilworth Trail, the Midtown Greenway, and the Grand Rounds National Byway. The neighborhood even has a park for your pet -- the Lake of the Isles Dog Park -- and a swimming beach -- the Lake Calhoun North Beach.
Cedar-Isles-Dean, one of Minneapolis' most affluent communities, takes its name from two of the major lakes and Dean Parkway, which extends through the center of the neighborhood. Property Ratings at Marbella on Dean
I’ve lived here for multiple years and am very disappointed with my experience. Have only stayed because of the inconvenience of moving. Here are my issues: - If the hot tub has been functional 25% of the time I’ve lived here, I’d be shocked. It’s constantly under repair, and they often close the entire pool area for repairs. - The elevators are also frequently broken, and when they work they are painfully slow. They are also often dirty. - The gym is tiny and the equipment hasn’t been updated…ever? You’ve got two janky treadmills, two jankier stationary bikes, an elliptical and some free weights/cables. - They clean out the garage about twice a year, and it sets off the entire building’s fire alarm EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Good luck if you have anxious pets. - The package room is only accessible during the office’s open hours from 10am-6pm. If you work during those hours and have an important package, you’re out of luck. - The building is impossible for Uber drivers to find. The entrance is basically hidden and the signage is terrible. - Most of the equipment in the common room is broken. Management is too lazy to replace the pool triangle or chalk. Only one TV works, and the building has had a robbery in the past where someone stole the one good TV. Positives: right on the greenway, near the lakes, front desk workers and custodial staff are friendly. But I highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Hello there, Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to address some points you bring up in your review. When our company acquired Marbella 3 years ago, the spa and pool area in general were in need of repairs. We are happy to say that overtime we’ve repainted the entire room, resurfaced both the pool and spa, installed brand new heaters, installed new jets, and currently installing a brand new bubbler. We are not aware of elevators being broken frequently, and they are service on a quarterly schedule, but if you have any specific concerns about their operation, please do contact us directly so we can assist. Our gym is a major draw at Marbella. It was completely remodeled and all new equipment was added just a few years ago. Equipment is also serviced quarterly. If there is a broken part we have not noticed, please let us know. The lobby spaces and community lounge were also completely remodeled 2 years ago with all new lighting, furniture, fireplaces, paint and wall décor. We are happy to know you have enjoy working with the Marbella staff, and appreciate your feedback. Thank you again for your time.
I relocated from South Carolina to Minneapolis and had no clue about housing/ locations in the Twin Cities. Grace and Amy were so great about communicating with me and answering any and all questions I had about leasing from Lake Calhoun Flats. So sweet and responsive both via email and phone calls!

this place is pretty MEH.. I wish I was paying the 300 more a month to live at the building a block away. Lake Calhoun Flats is updated but cheaply updated. great location with the lakes, the greenway, uptown nearby but again wishing i knew better before signing and paying a little more to live at a much better place a block away. Lake Calhoun Flats has extremely thin walls. you can hear your neighbors and also the contruction outside. This week alone I have been woken up or not able to take work calls from home because our buildings construction work and the workers talking is loud right outside my door and windows starting around 7am. Not to mention the only driveway in is hidden and with massive potholes from the building torn down in front of our building that is building new apartments. there is minimal parking available and tons of cars illegally parked in front of the entrance and some blocking exits. In the winter - the snow is not always addressed immediately and having a lower car at times I was not able to get in or get out. Also- Uber and friends coming over will struggle to find Lake Calhoun Flats. can't see the apartment from street and poor signage. If you enjoy the smell of marijuana in the halls- you will like this place. i made the mistake of signing a 14 month lease so I am stuck here until 2020. miserable experience. i gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the building staff is pleasant.
The best advice I can give anyone looking for a place to live in this area is to avoid Lake Calhoun Flats! I have continually been disappointed with everything in this community. Some highlights would include: being towed numerous times (there is pretty much no parking availability - no matter what the management office tells you!!!), the contact high I get from my neighbors smoking weed, mold in my unit (and the issue not being addressed), lack of cleanliness (I don't appreciate the dog poop not being cleaned up inside the building in a reasonable amount of time), lack of notice when they come in to inspect the units, fire alarms going off at all hours and for long periods of time... you get the point. For your sanity, please live somewhere else!

I love living here! I've been here since November and it's the best place I've ever lived! The location is EXCELLENT. It's so close to the lakes, the bus stops, whole foods, yoga and 15 minutes walking to the heart of uptown. It's also a 8ish dollar ride to downtown which is an extra plus! The units are super nice and modern. I love the gym and party room too. The people that work here are also so great. Shoutout to Bradley - he's such an amazing leasing manager and always there when we need something! Highly recommend living here :)
I've been a current resident for almost 9 months and will definitely not be renewing my lease. While the location is great, in the time in my unit, the washer/dryer have been replaced 3 times, the heater stopped working and wasn't repaired for 2 days during the winter, and the microwave was only replaced after 2 requests and constant badgering. On top of all that, 2 packages were received and accepted by front desk staff, but when I went to pick up, had disappeared, and I found out that in the lease, you sign away any fault of property mgmt team.

I love living at the flats. Lake Calhoun is convieniently across the street and restaurants are bars are easily accessible with short walking distances. It is extremely quiet in my unit, and I can barely hear any noise from outside despite all the construction happening around.
