The historic Anacostia neighborhood in Washington, DC flaunts its classic character within its businesses and architecture. This residential community consists of Italianate and cottage-style houses along with a few scattered Queen Anne homes and brick-row houses. The heart of the neighborhood sits directly across the Frederick Douglass Bridge.
Anacostia has two excellent museums, a growing art scene and a year-round ice rink, and it attracts residents with the Washington Nationals Stadium and its well-known landmark, the World's Largest Chair. The intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Good Hope Road marks Downtown Anacostia. Located five miles southeast of Washington, this area stands as one of the most famous neighborhoods in the southeast area of the city. The Anacostia Historic District took its place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Property Ratings at Marbury Plaza
Marbury Plaza does NOT have a doorman or concierge service. Package theft is a serious problem. There are perpetual leaks everywhere. The policy states "no pets" but there are many residents who have them. The "evidence" is all over the property.

This is the WORST! They do not repair anything. The office staff is horrible. The last straw is I requested 7 times for an exterminator & they have yet sent anyone! This do not include other maintenance request that they have yet responded too. Ive paid my rent every month & on time!! I am now joining the rest of the building on the rent strike!! Again do not move here

The management staff is horrible (Ms. Johnston). Poor customer service, and disrespectful to tenants. Complained to the corporate office (Edgewood Management), and they seem not care. No wonder the changes has not been made.

There was a fire over a week ago in the garbage chute and the issue still has not been cleaned up and the managements solution is to pile trash in the hallway on front of the elevators. They make enough money, the issue could have been resolved within 24 hours, but instead they leave a huge mess. Additionally the laundry machines are always broken and the management is very lack. The security is a joke and they are responsible for the murder of resident last year!!!!

I will be fair, not bias. The Good: Great location Spacious apartment Security Quiet The Bad: Ruff neighborhood. Roach infestation Apartment needs updating (kitchen & bath) Parking is horrible after 10pm ($75.00 a month guarantees garage parking Unit with a city view ($70.00 extra) Building upkeep is poor I moved there in April broke my lease and moved out in July. This is not a place for young vibrant professionals. Reason being listed in the bad. As well as the longtime residents uses some sort of machine to force out unwelcome neighbors. I kept getting unexplained headache and body aches, whenever I was home after moving there. Once I moved out. My symptom went away. Take my advice. Stay on the Nat stadium side of Southeast. Keep away.

Although many people stray away from southeast DC; I can say my apartment is the best southeast has to offer. My floor is quiet and respectful and my amenities are great!!!! I only planned to stay a year but I am going into my second year!

The apartment is a nice size, but the roaches and rats are a problem. As much as I want to remain there, I am going to have to locate a new apartment once my least expires.

For the last two year, I have lived in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in the high rise of Marbury Plaza. I moved to Marbury Plaza from a luxury apartment in Alexandria, VA to save money. Below is my review: THE GOOD: What attracted me to Marbury Plaza was the affordable rent; the apartment is larger than my previous apartment, costs literally half as much, and utilities are included! Free parking is also available to residents. This is a great deal. THE VIEW is the best feature Marbury Plaza offers. From my living room and bedroom, I have a view of the entire city of Washington, D.C., Northern, VA and Southern, MD. It is quite breathtaking. Marbury Plaza is not in the best neighborhood but there are mostly older tenants on my floor, so it stays relatively quiet. THE BAD: Although I have had a mostly pleasant time in Marbury Plaza, there are a few things a potential resident should know about the building. I had a really hard time moving into the unit. Because of the leasing officer’s lack of response and lack of professionalism, I did not see my apartment until the day I moved in. My move-in date was also pushed back 3 days on the day I was supposed to move. I also received a summons to appear in court for not paying my rent when I had only been in the apartment 3 weeks; this was because the leasing office failed to give my deposit to the accounting department. The building is mostly quiet, but there are a few immature kids in the building who pull the fire alarm about twice a month (often at 2AM). The building also has a rodent problem. Residents can request to have their apartment exterminated at any time, but it does not seem to work. You also have to catch a bus to the metro station. Overall, I will give Marbury Plaza the rate of 3 out of 5. It’s an older building with older building problems, but the space and rent is definitely affordable. If you can, get an apartment with a view… it is defiantly worth it.

My apartment always have some wrong with it. From no A/C for weeks, I lost my keys and it took the office days to change the lock, We had mushroom growing in the apartment. If I have money I will move.

I have been interested in Marbury Plaza for a few years and now have the opportunity to move into the property. I have been diagnosed with MS, and need a facility that provides wheelchair access, which this one does. The facility is clean and amenities are just what I need. An weight room and a pool with laundry facilities on the property. I've just recently been approved to move in so I'l; be a resident on Dec. 4.

I moved in Marbury Plaza 3 months ago and since then, I have had problems with, pests, stove gas leaks, continuous mold growths, ceiling leaks, kitchen faucet leaks, and numerous fire alarms going off, mostly occuring in the middle of the night. Being that my unit is on the 11th floor, this has been not walk in the park. I've tried reaching out to the immediate Manager, Maintenance crew and even UIP, who supposely manage the property, but to no avail. I truly wish I never moved here!! This property would have the potential of being a nice place, but they have to address the many issues with management, maintenance and the overall deterioration of the units. As it is now, the people they have running this place are not doing their jobs and act like they don't care about the tenants. I have concluded, the word "Slum Lord is very befitting. I plan to move once my lease is up and Do Not Recommend this place to anyone!!

There is no longer a dentist office, nor a convenience store or Fitness facility In another lifetime there was also a dry cleaner on the property. The playground is no longer there.
