We had a short term lease, in transition for a new property and it was a wonderful stay. The pool area is like a resort, the office staff was wonderful and very attentive to any issues or requests, the maintenance staff very professional. All around a wonderful place to call home.

If you love never finding a parking spot, or having an assigned parking spot half a mile away from your apartment - then this is place for you! If you love a combative leasing staff and a dismissive manager that’s even worse If you love being lied to, overpaying buy hundreds of dollars, then this is the place for you. If you want to live at a place where when there is a scheduled power outage and they still can’t remember to open the gates leaving you and your family locked inside the complex for hours - then this is the place for you! Don’t want your deposit back at the end of your lease? Not to worry - they’ll find a way to keep your money Don’t be fooled by the nice amenities.
My wife and I have lived in the A3 and B3 units over the last 5 years and we absolutely love it here! Both of these units face the golf course and have incredible views. We moved out a few years back to relocate further north but we decided to move back this year. We returned to a beautifully renovated community with amazing amenities. The leasing staff and maintenance staff are so friendly and responsive. We are so happy that we moved back here!
You too could live in beautiful Dana Point! These luxurious apartments offer recently painted, all original wood that has been decomposing since the 1980’s. The exquisite artwork of the local termites is on display all across the commons. If you don’t mind living in buildings of questionable integrity, dealing with office staff that do not care about your rights or needs, and are willing to pay way over market value for an apartment, then look no further!
NOT newly renovated. The two places I toured were 1. 'half-renovated' 2. 'not renovated' according to the nice blond girl who we toured the place with. Seems like the signs were put there to deceive. The pool area is new and lovely, but the entire place is under construction (roof, paint, balconys, AND entirely new building is being prepped for construction - heavy machinery shook the apartment we toured and the lovely golf course view was undesirable with the noise from the bulldozers. You couldn't pay me to live here once the nail guns start, no thanks!). I overheard a resident speaking about all the noise. Residents seem pissed. I also saw a cop SUV in the back lot talking to a man. All red flags here. I found better options in Dana Point with the same or nicer amenities at the same price or cheaper too! Just an honest review. Very let down and don't want it to happen to you. Beware.
My husband and I just moved out after 2 years of living here (we bought a house yay!). We had such an incredible experience with the front desk staff, maintenance, and overall living experience. We cleaned up our apt decently well upon moving out, but we honestly didn’t expect to get any of our deposit back because of normal wear and tear around the apt and on the walls and lack of deep cleaning on our part. We got a check in the mail for about half of it back today and we cannot be more thrilled! Such an honest, great place to live. Lounging at the pool and in the jacuzzi makes you feel like you’re on vacation at home. I’m from California too (I’m used to the awesome weather) and I’m pretty picky/ particular about esthetics and Monarch knocked it out of the park. Never had a problem with bug infestations or neighbors either. Shout outs to Krystal and Fernando! We love you guys!
As a current resident of the Monarch Coast apartments I absolutely love it here. The staff is very friendly especially our favorite Alana. We have a spacious 2 br. Newport over looking the St. Regis golf course. The apartments have 2 pools, 2 spa's and a newly remodeled gym. I also love that the apartments are connected to the monarch trail and from there it's a 10 minute walk to the beach. I would highly recommend these apartments to everyone.
The weather is perfect, all the time. It is 80 degrees, sunny, with a light breeze almost every day. These apartments are close enough to walk to the beach on a paved path that you can take directly from the complex. Only about half of the apartments have been updated. Every unit has a fireplace that is both real wood burning and gas. There is no crown molding but there's a window on nearly every wall. Overall I'm very pleased with this apartment and I plan to stay for a long time.
