Uptown is where renters choose to live if they love entertainment. Throughout the neighborhood you’ll find everything from walking tours highlighting the hangouts of Chicago gangsters to the city's hottest nightclubs and theaters to the best shops and restaurants around. Uptown Chicago stretches along Lake Michigan and includes the popular summer hotspot Montrose Beach. For those moving to Chicago with a pet, Montrose Dog Beach is also a very popular destination. In winter, Cricket Hill is one of the city's favorite sledding spots.
What is it like to live in Uptown? It’s historic, walkable, and distinctive. Uptown is home to some fantastic landmarks, such as Aragon Ballroom. The ballroom opened in 1926, and legends about secret tunnels and Al Capone abound. During the Big Band era, the ballroom hosted some of the biggest names in music, including Glenn Miller, Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington.

Property Ratings at Marine Terrace Apartments
After residing in this apartment building for 3 years, my experience has been riddled with frustration and disappointment. The promised amenities, such as the rooftop deck, have remained inaccessible throughout my entire tenure. The service elevator has repeatedly malfunctioned, leaving me (and almost every other tenant I’ve talked to) stranded on multiple occasions. I had one instance where I was stuck in the service elevator late at night, frantically pressing the emergency buttons and alarms to no avail. Despite reaching out to management about this incident, I received no response. The lack of action from management only added to the sense of helplessness and vulnerability. The presence of cockroaches in both my living space and the parking garage has been a constant source of distress. Despite countless complaints, management allows this issue to persist. The laundry room is barely functional. It's perpetually in a state of disrepair, with malfunctioning machines and unsanitary conditions. The management of this building is abysmal, to say the least. Their consistent failure to address critical issues speaks volumes about their incompetence and lack of regard for resident well-being. Basic amenities are routinely neglected, with repairs taking months (if YEARS) to be addressed, if they're addressed at all. The communication is virtually nonexistent, with management ignoring emails and requests for assistance. Their disregard for tenant safety is alarming. The non-functional emergency features in the service elevator, coupled with the lack of response to maintenance requests, create a hazardous living environment. It's clear that management prioritizes cost-cutting over resident safety/satisfaction. A particularly egregious aspect of management's conduct is their propensity to issue excessive fines for minor infractions. Residents are bombarded with threats of fines for the most trivial of matters, creating an atmosphere of fear and distrust. I recall one instance where the property manager sent 7 separate emails in a single day, each threatening a fine for a different perceived transgression. Don’t breathe too loudly here - it could cost you $500. In conclusion, the issues plaguing this apartment building go far beyond mere inconvenience; they pose a serious threat to resident safety and well-being. Unless drastic changes are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend this building to anyone seeking a safe and comfortable living environment.
There’s Roaches in some units sporadic you never know until you actually NOTICE . Behind the fridge - add on cabinets - two elevators one is freight — And almost 35% at the time elevator issues I moved in 3 times - attempts one the movers fault , 2 the elevator is BROKEN and I would be on 12th floor third time - manager walks in it’s about 10ish and states had no idea - so much attitude unknowable- all my maintenance requests were “closed “ yet I can tell you now the screen in the bedroom is still was not replaced Also the door is taped up lol this is a a joke thank you for the nice view and peace out good luck !!
Wildly subpar building and management for the price. Will refuse to answer any email complaints. BIG SAFETY ISSUES. The doors are always broken or tampered with and homeless have wandered into the building. The police were called. Management tried to cover it up. Elevators are broken a lot. Mail room door broken and left unlocked. If it is locked, good luck getting your key fob to work to open it. Laundry room floods, washers and dryers broken. The “gym” is a joke. Tenants have been BEGGING for better quality… ANYTHING at this point. Units are low quality for the price. Rent goes up and the conditions get worse. Don’t waste your time with this company, you can get way better for your money.
While I was in the process of moving out, a property manager ENTERED MY APARTMENT WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT, took everything off of the walls, then shoved it all in random drawers and closets. This was a day or two after they called my mom (only listed on the lease as my emergency contact) who told them the same thing I did- I had the apartment for the whole month and was taking that time to move out!! They still came in and trashed the place (and left the door unlocked). Terrible management and a subpar place to live for the amount they charge for rent. The location's great but definitely not worth it. I'd recommend checking out any of the nearby buildings before this one The elevators never work and are never reliable. There's no control over the heat (unless you tap into your electrical bill that they don't cover to use the space heaters in the units). Save your money and time by looking somewhere else if you can. Any 5-star reviews are due to management offering money for them, not because the building deserves it at all.
