Property Ratings at Mariner's Cove Apartment Homes
Got email confirmation for a tour appointment 3 times only to arrive and be told that there was nothing to tour and never actually was. Waste of my time. Someone could have informed me.
I’m here five years. I’ve always had excellent relations with the office. The maintenance staff is on top of things immediately. I’m very satisfied with the choice I made.
Moving down from NYC is never an easy process and looking at a residence without actually being there can be difficult at best. What I love and appreciate the most in my move was the transparency of the front desk staff Amanda, Kayla, Cierra and Sydney. They are phenomenal and hopefully are recognized by Diane. Diane helped with some of my special needs that I had and helped pull my transition together. As far as some of the other reviews I have read, I have to disagree. I realize that everyone has an opinion and I have been here 1 month and any issues that I have have have been quickly and professionally addressed. I myself have walked around and find the area of stores to be very convenient for me to get to and think that this location is quite wonderful for my need as well cost effective. The grounds are clean and maintained as well as the pool, gym, sitting areas and children’s park. Most other tenants that I have encountered are polite and respectful. I would recommend this location
Roaches literally everywhere, it was an absolutely disgusting experience, I dreaded every walk home from my car. Not a safe place in general, you have a 90% chance of getting your car broken in to and your stuff stolen, everything in the apartment itself is outdated, walls are stained and disgusting and the air vents even worse. I consistently kept getting sick, there has to be a mold problem going on, DO NOT MOVE HERE!
DO NOT MOVE HERE. There are roaches everywhere. I’ve complained, they’ve brought in pest control and I literally timed the guy that was doing pest control he went in and out of my apartment in four minutes. I still see roaches all the time. I don’t think they do what they’re supposed to be doing when it comes to roaches. Stay away from here!!!!
I love it here it’s the best ever they’re very respectful and welcoming I recommend everyone to come here and they are VERY fair .. Great townhomes and apartments!! Nice flooring very spacious as well. Great are for you and your family to live. Friendly environment!
The only reason they have 4 stars is because they give incentives to leave good reviews. Apartments are spacious, maintenance men are very friendly and try to get things done quickly. But the “updated” apartments are some cheap floors installed which weren’t done correctly. The walls are cracked and show signs of water damage. The heat doesn’t go above 73, but they don’t tell you that at ANY point. They just bandaid the problems and cover it with paint. The office staff is rude and don’t really have answers nor do they accomplish anything. Such a shame, this could be a really nice place to live if they cared about maintaining the apartments and complex.
This property is a disaster! I honestly don't know where to start. BUG - The lies they tell you about the bugs... don't believe them. They are everywhere, yes they will spray for you but it doesn't do much. You'll still see them everywhere. Dogs - They don't really care about what breed of dog you have, you'll see multiple pit bull mixes on the property. Don't get me wrong, I love them and could care less but if you get turned away because of the breed of your dog. I'm sorry cause its not true. They also could care less if someone's dogs poop and the residents don't pick them up. Just know you'll have poop everywhere, my dog constantly has worms and fleas even though he's on protection and doesn't go anywhere near the dog park, which isn't at all a dog park. It's too small for anything really to get done. Their upgrades are crap... they just cover crap up and try to make it look nicer but the foundation of the apartment is still falling apart and settling. You can hear your neighbors... terribly. Floor creak and you can hear your neighbors running their laundry machines or dishwashers. Weed smell is everywhere and they don't do anything about it. Sewage backs up all the time in the courts as well as in your home. Mine has 3 times and each time they just "clean" the carpet that was already old when I moved in. The apartment now constantly smells musty and I don't even bother asking for a replacement cause I know behind the scenes how things get done and it won't change anything. The office people suck. The property manager is rude and only cares about making money not taking care of the residents. If you move here be prepared for a lot of attitude if you complain about anything. Your packages no longer are safe in the office, they are now delivered to your door and constantly get lost. I've had to have a replacement item from Amazon 3 times... and lost a package from Esty as well. AND THE PARKING IS AWFUL. We have none. Save you money and your time and go somewhere else. They don't follow the lease or regulations here... Good luck if you don't take my advice.
They don’t fix problems with the apartment. I’ve had many problems with the apartment that have only had bandaids applied. Even serious issues like fires in the furnace were brushed over. Now I have an issue with smoke leaking into the apartment that they won’t deal with. Don’t waste your time or money here. Look elsewhere.
Property Manager at Mariner's Cove Apartment Homes, Responded To This Review
We are sorry to hear you feel this way. We don't recall any fire or smoke issue with our furnaces? Please bring this to our attention in the office so we can address it. Thank you
They will rent an apartment to you with unusable 20 year old utilities. My Dishwasher is older than I am. When asked if I can get a new one - no answer. The plumbing should all be redone. My fridge sounds like a F14 taking off and is way past its shelf life. Etc. If you are used to competent property managers do not consider this place. For some reason the landscapers they hire are out here making noise, a lot of noise, for several hours a day, with ZERO RESULTS. They scream up the grounds from 8AM to 3PM but the grounds are still atrocious. Debris all over. Bushes overgrown. Grass all over. Meanwhile their landscapers are causing horrendous noise for HOURS, almost every day. What are they doing? Just walking around with the most out of date power tools known to man? It is infuriating.

They towed both of my cars tried to lock me in a 60days notice after my lease was over it’s super small and over price and old raggedy cramp apartments old computers do not move here you will regret it
Property Manager at Mariner's Cove Apartment Homes, Responded To This Review
We do have a tow company that comes through and tows cars that don't have decals or visitor passes on the property, we also don't allow cars that aren't up to date on inspections or legal to drive to sit on our property. Sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any questions please contact us in the office.
stasi in golf carts rome the grounds looking to violate someone's lease apantly they want to keep the occupancy rate below 50 % as in the 5 years we have lived here way more people have moved out than in and the few that have came in have moved out in the first year. The latest of the stalin's purges involves the patios and balconies , if you dare to use the these spaces that you pay for then you are involation of your lease and god forbid you have a bicycle and you lock it you to are are in violation you should just hand over your bicycle to the thieves.
Property Manager at Mariner's Cove Apartment Homes, Responded To This Review
I'm sorry you feel this way. Per the safety regulations for buildings only patio chairs, tables and plants may be on your porches and balconies and this is stated in your lease. We hope this answer helps answer any confusion.
I wish I could give 0 stars. This place is absolutely horrible, from the construction to the front office staff. I've lived here for 10 months and I can't wait to move out in 2 more months. The walls are paper thin, we can hear our neighbors every fight and every cough. We hear every step that the people above us take, and they wake up at 5:30 every day. The gym facilities will fool you, they look nice but one treadmill and the only bike have been broken the entire time I've lived here with no sign of being worked on. The front office staff almost always forgets to replace the gym wipes, so for weeks at a time there will be no way of cleaning equipment (think about how gross that is). AND they keep the gym at about 85 degrees, for extra sweat. The only decent aspect is the maintenance crew, who seem knowledgeable and professional, BUT the front office staff never seems to get my maintenance requests until the third or fourth time I ask so I never see the maintenance guys anyway!! I have an open maintenance request in right now because of the horrible drain construction with the showers and toilets (our neighbor's toilet is backing up into our shower - GROSS) AND to actually get the staff to look at my request I had to walk in and confront them. One of the staff, Ariel, had such an attitude. Another staff member asked if Ariel had submitted my request when she checked the messages, and Ariel responded, "What, I haven't checked any messages" with an obnoxious tone. This was at noon! What group of incompetent morons goes hours and hours without checking emails or voice messages. I had to ask for a MONTH to get them to submit a request to change the lightbulb outside our walkway. Literally had to walk through total darkness for a month outside our apartment. Then, when we ask later what they do to encourage security, they had the nerve to say "Park near lights to prevent theft." Unbelievable. There are so many other places for similar prices, and there is no way that they are worse than Mariner's Cove.
Property Manager at Mariner's Cove Apartment Homes, Responded To This Review
Good afternoon, We are sorry that you had these experiences within our community. We do strive to provide great customer service through our offices and maintenance staff. We also have discussed the issues you have experienced with the messages, maintenance requests, lighting and staff on property. We were also unaware of any issue with the treadmill, however we are currently working to make the necessary repairs to this equipment. Unfortunately with the community being built in the 1970's there may be unforeseen issues that arise. In those instances we do take care of them on a case by case basis. If your neighbor has not yet contacted us regarding their showers and toilets please encourage them to do so as soon as possible. As far as the noise level between apartments, you would hear normal apartment noises. Again, these apartments were built in the 1970's and unfortunately the construction is not what it is today. If you are having issues with your neighbors we do encourage you to document those issues and provide the Leasing Office with the that documentation so that we may try to work on these issues. Please feel free to contact the Community Manager, Leasing Manager or Assistant Manager with any concerns you may have now or in the future.
This is my third summer in the complex. While it's not perfect, it's perfect for my family. I have witnessed positive changes since the new owners have come in to the property. The apartments are going through renovations. I personally have not had any done to my unit, but I'm content with what I have. The units I have been in with the renovations are super nice and have a lot of basic amenities that people take for granted like the nicer cabinets and flooring. If there is a maintenance issue, submit your request and they will attend to it promptly. The biggest complaints I have are parking (I wish they had assigned parking), the thin walls that allow you to hear your neighbors, and the dog owners who do not clean up after their pets. I love all of the trees on the property and there are multiple benches to be able to sit in relative peace. There is a nice fitness room, a decent playground for the kiddos, and a pool that is open Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day. The best part of the property has to be the new staff. Unlike the previous staff, I feel like this team cares about the residents. Case in point, they sponsored a resident end of summer pool party. There was a DJ, food, games, and great prizes!! It was a nice way to mingle and get to know some of the other residents and the staff. They were right in the middle of everything and really made it a fun event. Rumor has it there may be more opportunities to mingle in the future. I really hope so!!! Overall I believe that this is one of the better places to live in Virginia Beach. The location, unit layouts, the staff, and the affordability make it a good draw. New owners and staff mean a new start. Read all of the reviews with a grain of salt and check it out for yourself. You won't be sorry!!!
The apartments are located conveniently across the street from a hospital. There is a mall 5 minutes away and a navy base less than 10 minutes. There is access to either 64 or 264 within a 10 minute drive as well. There are also a decent selection of grocery stores and fast food places within walking distance. The maintenance is very helpful and a very quick turnaround. The apartments are also reasonably priced as well.
Right now my wife and I are renting a spacious townhouse to accommodate our four sons. I am a hospice chaplain, and drive 80 minutes each way daily just to get to work. We've had some financial difficulties and are in the process of declaring bankruptcy. This would be a fresh start for my family, and allow us the financial breathing room to take care of our family.
My first year of renting here this was the cheapest for most amenities available. Now they have raised their prices. Which has driven a lot of people out of the complex. Mostly military as there are a few base entrances within 15 minutes. Only one way in and out can cause problems when people are moving in and out. Maintainence responds usually fast but only one guy, Carlos, is actually good and fixes it right the first time.
