Property Ratings at Mark Twain II
Property is poorly maintained. Water heater is currently broken for the second time in less than three years, last time it was broken for an entire month and we didn't even get a discount on rent. I understand that things happen, but when it is something major like that the residents are owed a generous discount, lack of maintenance is affecting their quality of life...I don't get the sense that Apartment Homes by Tonti cares. Office staff is a mixed bag, some are kind and helpful, some are rather rude and act put out anytime you ask for anything. Apartment Homes by Tonti will raise your rent every new lease, even though the quality of the property is going down. Not a very ethical company, you can do better.
Poor management, broken appliances, a/c have been broken since July it’s now October. Bed bugs, roaches, lizards & gnats all over. Carpet outdoor is filthy, old & holds water from the rain. 0/10
I recently moved in to Mark Twain II on March 15 & I must say everything has been perfect from the time i came to tour until now. The unit is very clean & spacious just like the unit i toured, it has no flaws. It's also very quiet, pretty & peaceful i would recommend these apartments to everyone. Ms. Cristal assisted me with everything since day 1 & she's absolutely amazing! She got me exactly what i wanted & was very helpful & kind, she has the best customer service. I feel very comfortable and secure in my new home
I recently moved into a one bedroom in Mark Twain II after viewing several places in the area. To me, Mark Twain has everyone beat from professional staff, clean property and apartments and all repairs reported were handled very quickly.
Joanna is one of the most sincere people I’ve ever met in a management position. She goes above and beyond to ensure that all request are met in a timely manner and even in her off hours if she has to she will follow up with no problem. During the hurricane I knew she was the perfect manager for this Property. She’s a rare jewel and we are definitely luck to have her!
Joanna the property manager and her staff is AMAZING. I lived in these apartments for 11 yrs and never seen the things she does like make sure we are updated with emails about what is going on during hurricane Ida I was out of town and I felt so relieved because she kept us updated about what was going on and even let us know that lights were back on and the staff CLEANED OUT my refrigerator was a PLUS that’s something they didn’t have to do. But it was amazing coming home knowing that your refrigerator has been cleaned out cause I didn’t have to come home and do all that and smell was not bad. She is very friendly and I hope that she stays here. I absolutely love her she is the BEST!!! Thanks for all you do Joanna and Staff??
I am not sure when these apartments were built. I am thinking maybe in the 1980s or 1990s. They do not build buildings like this anymore. These apartments are so well built the lasted through Katrina and Ida. The AC in these apartments work incredibly well. You have everything you need and more here. That staff is outstanding. Joanna and her team have done an amazing job keeping residents and their belongings safe after Ida. I couldn’t be happier to live here. They have an outside company come get the trash, so we don’t have to worry about the city not picking it up. I love this place. I am safe here. There is active security and cameras. It’s a nice place to live.
I have been a resident at these apartments for 14 years and our property manager we have now, Johanna is by far the best we’ve ever had. Her and her staff’s performance in the aftermath of the hurricane has been outstanding . She is friendly knowledgeable and constantly keeps us updated on news and what’s going on in the property. Also unlike in the past when you have an issue and you send her an email she responds quickly and follows through on any issue. Tonti has a winner here I hope she stays here a long time. Kurt Hasenkampf
I would like to give a huge thank you to the property manager of mark twain II. Joanna and her staff always go above and beyond to assist residents but I personally would like to thank them for the amount of time, effort and determination they put in after hurricane Ida . Joanna made sure to keep residents updated with every piece of information she received ! I’ve never experienced this with no other complex I’ve lived in . Thank you so much for going above and beyond to help the residents with everything during this difficult time . You are appreciated .
Mark Twain II apartments has always been a wonderful place to live. My building is quiet, my neighbors respectful, grounds well maintained. Immense praise to our property manager and her employees. Joanna and her team have done an amazing job in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. They've worked tirelessly to check our units for damage, and clean up the property as quickly as they could. I'm very thankful for the care that they show to their residents.
The property manager, Joanna, and her staff are hero’s. After Hurricane Ida they cleaned out all the fridges for those who evacuated and could not do it on their own. She went into each apartment and took note of any damage. I can’t thank her and her team enough. I am so grateful for the staff here. They keep up the property and fix thing regularly. I love living here.
They will find any kind of excuse to charge you over $1,000 when you move out.
Horribly noisy neighbors. I've had to call the police many times and management does nothing about the situation. Property also has an ongoing weed problem. Lease says you can't be a nuisance to your neighbors, but there is no enforcement of rules or standards. Some office staff are at least polite, some are rather rude. They raise rent frequently too. I've forgotten what it's like to have peace and quiet in my own home.
They keep jacking up my rent while quality of life goes down. The property itself is nice, but over the three years that I've lived here it doesn't seem to be maintained as well as when I moved in. They claim to have community standards, but no rules are enforced. If, like me, you are unfortunate to have inconsiderate neighbors who party until all hours of the night, don't expect management to do anything but give you an endless string of excuses as to why "there's nothing we can do." Residents are encouraged to call the private security company that patrols the property if there is a problem, again, don't expect anything to happen. You can often smell weed on the property and again, management just can't seem to do anything about it. It's gotten so bad with my neighbors I'm miserable and can't wait until my lease is up.
It's a nice clean quiet peaceful environment.... the staff members or really nice helpful people that shows consideration.
Office staff generally care about helping the tenants. They always make me feel welcome.
been living here for 6 plus years and I cant help but to say this is a great place to live for a bachelor like me. I've always felt comfortable & safe living here. It's been times I left all my car windows down from being drunk and came back hours later and nothing has been touched. I walk around the apartments in my robe cause I feel so comfortable. Ever since this new manager Seth took over, I feel he does EVERYTHING in his power to make sure you feel like your in a five star apartment. He has answered all my requests and kept his word since he been here in a rush timely matter which Is awesome! And wait, he couldn't do this without the help of the beautiful office assistants, like Camika, I honestly feel like they all do more than what they suppose to do. At least for me. It's a great place to live and grow. Respectful neighbors and quiet neighborhood except for the pple who take up more than one parking space.????
I just moved in a few months ago and like it so far. I had visited before because I had friends that live out here. It's usually quiet, you can walk right up on the levee and 2 bus stops are in front of the complex (about 30 minutes into new orleans). Pretty affordable for updated apartments in New Orleans area - especially with a gate. Ask about which pool you'll live by because one of them has been closed since my friends lived here last year. You can use any pool, it's just a walk. The other two pools DO NOT look anything like the pool by the front office. The furniture is outdated and the pools dont seem to be cleaned regularly. The main reason I'm giving it a 2 is that their staff sucks. Always. The manager and bookkeeper are THE only professionals in there. The front desk people can't get anything right. Paperwork is always missing from files and they always call you to come fix it, and then act like it's your fault that they didn't get anything right. This woman named Laurie doesn't know how to work any of the systems and always gets an attitude by phone because she can't answer questions. Also, one of their maintenance is rude. This tall blond one with glasses was mad rude - he banged so loud on my door and unlocked my door before i even got a chance to say I'm coming - I had to rush out the shower and throw on my towel, run to my room while he's standing in my hallway. They didn't tell me what day he was coming or time and he acted like i need to stay ready for him. he wouldn't even look me in my face, he disrespectful and creepy. Ladies - if you live alone, make sure you keep your doors locked here and that they give you a time for maintenance. to come
I have been living at this apartment complex for almost two years and I must say that it one of the best places I have lived in. Very quiet community that has a very professional staff. Well maintained grounds. And for me the is fairly priced for the amenities being offered.
I like the apartments. It located vey close to our New Orleans activities. Great parking and near good schools. Heavily recommended!!!
I’ve been a resident of this property for over a year, and the staff here has always displayed the highest degree of professionalism and courtesy. Any concern that I have ever expressed (very few) has been resolved quickly and efficiently. Overall, I am completely satisfied with my apartment, the complex, the amenities provided, and the community as a whole.
Great place to live and the front office hospitality is amazing ??
The staff is awesome and very attentive and take care of all your needs .My move was a very smooth procees, and I am very satisfied with my service so far.
Very close to the levee. Apartments are always maintained properly. Would recommend to anyone.
Great place to live, very quiet and nice safe place to raise a child.
Great place..The staff keeps me happy. The neighbors are easy to get along with
Very nice apartments and the Area stays clean at all times. Front office staff is easy to work with as well.
It’s wonderful here people are nice here the workers and front office is very helpful things here are safe and pleasant it’s good place to live and kid and pet friendly
We've been residents of Mark Twain 2 since Katrina, first in a 1 bedroom and now a 2 bedroom. Over the years the staff has always been kind and courteous, and the property nicely maintained. The neighbors are quiet and friendly. We're very happy living here. At times we forget we live in an apartment.
I use to live at these apartments in 2010 till 2012 and I’m back and I still feel comfortable here. The compound is always clean it quiet and the neighbors are very friendly and inviting will absolutely recommend to family and friends, very family friendly also pet friendly all amenities are available and easy to access day or night, great apartments.
I’ve been living for four years. Wonderful staff and Grounds are kept clean.
Affordable, quiet and safe!!! I’ve been here for years and I’ve had not one problem. Staff is very friendly and always helpful.
I visited this apartment property on my search, and it was lovely! I saw the model, the pool, and a laundromat and everything was clean and beautiful. I hope to apply soon!
I moved here for my new job, and I'm so glad I made the right choice. My apartment is super nice and I can walk on the levee for exercise!
I moved to Mark Twain II in late summer 2017 and it has been one of the best decisions ever. Before I moved to the area, I wanted to make sure that the place I moved to was a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. I’m a college student and I live alone, so safety was one of my biggest requirements when looking for a place to stay. Mark Twain II really meets that standard because it is a very safe, gated community. The staff is friendly and is always trying to accommodate to tenant needs or concerns. It’s a beautiful property with multiple laundry facilities and pool areas. I would definitely recommend Mark Twain II to anyone that is looking for a comfortable, safe, and clean environment.
I have lived at Mark Twain 2 now for a while. They are improving a lot of the amenities and apartments. The staff in the office has improved as well. Overall I have enjoyed living here. Access to the levy is a big plus!
Staff was very kind to me after i always ask for my spare key
Staff at the property is very nice,Great place to live very quiet. Definitely nice and clean! Spoke with the office staff about property before going over to the property and they we're very professional and welcoming. Thanks for being kind and polite to me over the phone which means coming into the property was very heart warming and family friendly.
Visited the property and it is very nice and clean! As a matter of fact It looks exactly like the pictures and 3d model. The staff was so eager to help.. Im most definitely putting in my app.
My kids love it here. Great place to live. The staff is very friendly.
Staff is awesome, property is very clean, nice, and quiet! Definitely a nice place to stay
I ordered a boflex bundle weight set on Feb 17th thinking the package would take a week to come it didnt it came in three days.Fed Ex delivered my packege in front of my door.my package sat in front of my door for 4DAYS and it still was there nobody touched it a 800$ set still there after 4DAYS amazing.Im a offshore worker who is gone weeks at a time I was suppose to come home on Feb 21rst my Birthday but the day got push back twice.7days after I ordered my package it still was in front of my door.the people in the apartments are excellent everybody stays to they self.after this incident i knew i picked they rite apartments to live in.Plus the apartments are clean and fresh???R.Green!!
The apartments themselves are nice and staff is also helpful. But the parking on the left side of the complex is ridiculous. No one parks correct meaning they park in fire lanes blocking you from getting in or out or double spaces. I’ve reported this to the office and security. The office said they are working on something but security is really there for no reason. They don’t help with any of that. They pick and choose who and when to call a tow truck and it’s horrible. Of all the problems that’s being reported and hardy handled , this is one that they obviously don’t care about. The gates are often broken and i’ve seen random people walking in and out looking through the dumpsters.
Stayed here 7 months. The grounds where nice but when I signed the lease I was told 30 notice of leaving which I gave. When I gave notice they acted as everything was good. Now come to find out they changed their policy and didn't update or warn me. They charged me an additional 800 dollars for failure to give proper notification
On the surface it looks like a really great place to live, however throughout two years here we have found many problems. Being a young couple and not from the area the gated property was a huge draw. We learned quickly that the gates RARELY work properly, they are almost always open. Within the first week of moving in we received a very strongly worded letter to remove the never-been-used BBQ pit from the balcony, since then we have noticed at least 4 other apartments with BBQ pits on the balcony for several months (one for over a year). The putting green and tennis courts sounded really great too for, but the tennis courts are in terrible shape and the putting green is basically a huge bathroom for pets. The pool areas are nice and always clean. The inside of the apartment does have a lot of storage place and that is awesome. We have had a couple issues in the apartment as well(leak in the bathroom ceiling... on the second floor, air conditioner leak that soaked the carpet). Both times we had to make several calls to the office to get the problems resolved. We even called and asked specifically for the manager but we were told both times she was not in and would call back, she never did. In two years the "quarterly pest control" was done ONCE. Our apartment was somehow "overlooked" resulting in a massive amount of fleas in our apartment, we do not have any pets. It has been over a week since the apartments were sprayed and ours has still not been done. I would NOT recommend this apartment complex.
The Mark Twain 2 Apartments are reasonably priced, while also being in a nice quite neighborhood. The living room is very large and spacious, I have a washer and dryer in the unit and I have a nice size patio whit and outdoor closet. Thats not to mention the two swimming pools, and tennis courts I have access to! The rent for my one bedroom runs me about $705 a month, for a nice place close to my job in a nice neighborhood this is perfect! I would highly recommended this Apartment Community to anyone looking for a nice place thats reasonably priced.
I've lived here for a Lil over six months. Its My fiance and my first apartment together. The pools are always clean and it's a very quite apartment complex. Rent is reasonable and the leasing agents are very nice and understanding. Only thing I would change is I would say that the pools need a BBQ grill and the tennis courts need to be updated! Other than that over all its a great apartment.
pretty good apartments so far so good no troubles very quiet just wish there was a barbecue grill st the pool
Cons: electric drier takes 3 full run to dry clothes, front gate is almost always broken and open, ppl park really bad. Pros: cheap rent, 1st floor is energy efficient, levee access great for running
