Old Towne Petersburg displays incredible historical architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries in the heart of Petersburg. This significant locale is an inviting culinary and shopping destination, with almost all of its restaurants and shops in historic structures. There’s several locally owned restaurants that offer Italian, Greek, Latin American, Southern cuisine and more. Old Towne also boasts approximately a dozen antique shops, primarily on West Old and North Sycamore Streets, but also on North Market, Bollingbrook, and West Bank Streets.
Old Towne’s location along the Appomattox River puts residents close to waterfront dining options and walking trails. You’ll find newly renovated apartments in long-standing buildings all with a unique charm, and with U.S. Highway 301 and Interstate 95 so close, you can be in any of the surrounding communities in no time.

Property Ratings at Market Street Lofts
I lived here for about a year and a half. There are pros and cons. The maintenance team and leasing office team are both awesome. They respond quickly and try their best to help. The actual aesthetic of my apartment was super cute. You definitely won’t see a nice picture online and then get there and be shown an ugly apartment. They’re all updated. They are extremely consistent with pest control services as well. As for the not-so-great stuff….the walls are paper thin. And when I say paper thin, I mean I could hear my next door neighbor clear her throat and it would sound like she was in my room. I called the cops a few times for extremely loud parties being had in the common area downstairs that would literally rattle my furniture and keep me awake on week nights-well into the mornings most times, because my apartment was directly above the common area. It always stinks like trash inside the building because the residents don’t follow the rules of when they’re allowed to place their trash out in the hall so the trash is steaming all day during the summer. Often times I’ll see dog poop or pee on the floor inside the building. It also always smells like weed. If your neighbor smokes your apartment will get hot boxed. The vents are linked in a way that you will smell everything coming through from your neighbor. The loft part of my apartment was a good 5 degrees hotter than the kitchen/living room. Poor venting design I’m assuming, made my electric bill wicked high trying to keep my room cool. The area is also not safe. The price of the unit, plus Wi-Fi, plus electric, plus water isn’t worth living in Petersburg. Think about it before you move here. And if you do, for the sake of everyone else that lives there, don’t smoke in your apartment and respect the quiet hours from 10pm to 7am. A little respect goes a long way.
Property Manager at Market Street Lofts, Responded To This Review
We sincerely regret that your experience was less than perfect. We care deeply about our residents and want to provide the most comfortable experience possible. We hope to be able to improve and provide a more positive experience.
Do not move here! The construction is very cheap. The maintenance man is in our apartment every other day about something breaking. The walls are very very thin. This is our 3rd apartment and the sound has never been this bad. We can hear our next door neighbor tv. We constantly get waken up people in the gym playing loud music every morning. Management doesn’t do anything but lie to you in a nice way. If you like peace and quietness look elsewhere because this place is not it.
