Property Ratings at Market Villas
Several issues. Prior to move-in several issues were noted. No A/C, smoke alarm battery needed to be replaced, washer broken, missing bathroom ceiling tiles and cockroaches. Normally I don't mind replacing air filters and smoke alarm batteries, but due to this being a lofted space with exposed duct work, you need a 20 ft ladder minimum to access both. I don't have one, and I shouldn't be expected to purchase one to live here. Smoke alarm took a month to be replaced (after move-in) 2 months after it was reported. The A/C saga: It got hot outside, which makes it hot inside. At the time of move-in it was 86 inside. We called about repairs, and no one answered. We called about a window unit and no one answered. We called every business day several times and no one answered. It got to 98 degrees inside. Which was warmer than outside at times. We purchased a window unit for our bedroom so we could sleep. A month after we moved in they finally provided a window unit which helped cool it to 82. Due to the extreme heat our bedroom door swelled shut and we couldn't open it. But that counts as a lock out according to the person who answered the phone, and we weren't paying $150 for them to open our door. It took 3 months before the A/C was actually fixed. And another 2 for them to add an air filter. The outside company they had to use for the A/C was disgusting. There was grime all over walls in the bathroom, floor and we are still finding screws from removing even more ceiling tiles. Don't mind the mice and cockroaches. They won't fix it, do routine prevention, and according to the lease is 100% your responsibility. Glue traps are the only thing that works, and those are horrific. Maintenance staff, now that they aren't fixing an entire building, are great. They come quickly, they are respectful and get the job done right. Sometimes things aren't all the way fixed (our dryer was not wanting to dry in a reasonable amount of time) they came back 2 times since the first attempt didn't work.
