Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at Marlene Renee Apartments
I lived here for a short time and would have left because of terrible experiences with management and maintenance. I had both simple and important maintenance tickets go ignored for weeks to over a month. I was never contacted about a ticket and would need to call the office and property manager to get a response; I was met with apathy and refusal to follow up on incomplete tickets. The units and location are good for the price, but the compromise is having little to no building security or sanitary shared spaces. The building is routinely broken into, packages often stolen, garbage left everywhere for days to weeks. I don't recommend ANY buildings managed by Northwest Apartments, this was my experience in another building managed by them as well.
They never pick up their phones and voicemail boxes are almost always full. Very sketchy area with an abandoned house and sketchy characters will constantly loiter at the main entrance and STEAL PACKAGES. Package theft at this complex has been rampant for over a year and the landlord has refused to put up a camera at the main entrance. If your packages are left outside, they will be stolen if you don't retrieve it immediately. There have been multiple police reports filed of break-ins as well as a major break-in in February where a homeless man broke in and used a fire extinguisher to open the apartment door of a resident at 3am. Please beware if you are thinking of renting here, nothing will be done to improve security. Plus, this is an old apartment and the amenities are extremely old and in poor condition, including the laundry room downstairs that residents use as a storage space for miscellaneous items. Basement stairs reek and have stains all over them. Would give 0 stars if I could.
