The Loop serves as Chicago’s downtown district and is home to many of the city’s most famous landmarks: the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower), Buckingham Fountain, and City Hall, to name just a few. The skyline is dominated by skyscrapers representing well over a century’s worth of architectural designs and styles, from the earliest Victorian-era high-rises to ultra-modern glass towers and everything in between.
What’s it like to live in the Loop? The neighborhood is loaded with everyday attractions like the lakefront, which gives the neighborhood stunning waterfront views. The dining scene is incredible, with world-class food of every description readily available anywhere you look. The nightlife incorporates everything from dives and corner taverns to swanky nightclubs and cocktail bars. Renters pay a premium to live here, but they get to enjoy all the benefits of having the very best of Chicago right at their doorstep.

Property Ratings at Marquee at Block 37
My daughter recently filled an application to rent an apartment at Marquee Block 37. She was asked for a guarantor. I completed the guarantor application, including income info etc. However, then their system asked me to link my bank account electronically for "income verification." I proposed that since such electronic linking is a security concern, can I provide copies of paystubs to confirm income. This was not accepted by the management office and they proceeded to cancel the application. On top of that they refused to refund the application fee. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SUCH BUSINESS PRACTICE WHERE A BUSINESS ASKS YOU TO LINK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT TO THEIR SYSTEM. In this day and age of cyber security breaches, this is an awful business practice. I encourage Marquee Block 37 management to wake up and reconsider this business practice. In the meantime, we will not touch their apartment consideration with a ten foot pole.

In the first few weeks we moved into Marquee block 37, we had several times experiencing a strong smell of Marijuana coming out of our bathroom. We've discussed multiple times with the property manager Wendy, with each time Wendy telling us we need to report instantly when this smell happens so they can catch the smoking in the action, thus they can issue a proper stop-smoking or evict notice. However, though we did as we were told, every time the maintenance crew came confirming that there were such smells, they did not take any actions to knock on the around apartment doors to future investigate as Wendy told us. We realize the property management does not have the capacity to resolve this issue, thus propose we move out of the building without any penalty. However, though Wendy agrees our proposal was valid and reasonable, she still denies our proposal. I have no other options but to post this experience here so everyone knows better about what is happening with Marquee Block 37 management. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE! (unless you are a marijuana lover of course)
The building's amenities are standard for the area and price point, but Marquee really struggles with it's management. Unclear communication, inflexibility and money grabbing are very prevalent and make dealing with the management a nightmare.
Moved in after being sold on the convenience. I’ve lived in high rises for quite some time and this one by far is the poorest quality. 1. Excessive amount of people who are AirBnB’g. Had I known this I would have never moved in. They don’t respect the building as much as some of the residents. 2. It’s severely understaffed given the size of the building. 3. Absolutely no community activities with the exception of the AT&T soliciting their horrible cable and internet. Also, there were only 50 bagels for the breakfast the building found itself hosting with well over 700 residents. 4. Office staff barely know the residents (knowing my dog doesn’t count) and are too busy trying to sucker some poor couple into living in this pseudo luxury high rise. 5. In the summer time the dog run radiates a putrid smell all the way to the pool. Also, fellow residents are bums when it comes to cleaning up after their dog. What’s saving this building is it’s location. If you are new to the city and looking for a place to stay until you transition it works but after that you’ll find some nicer buildings.

My wife and I have been here for over 2 years (moved in March 11, 2017) and it was great for the first year or so. Management was awesome and so was the staff. Since within the last year, things have gone down hill. Management changed basically for the worst. They state this as a non-smoking community where you will be in trouble if caught and can't be within 10-20 ft of the main door. We now have college kids (after they made an agreement with certain schools) that will smoke pot in the units and we have to keep informing the front desk to check it. People literally smoke right around the corner of the front door and my wife or I inform the front desk staff that have to inform them to go out to a certain area to smoke. I've spoke to the office staff about offering my ability to create signs and print them at work since I work at a printing supply reseller. No update from them what so ever. I would have done this at no charge and so we can have "signs" around the front and per floor regarding these restrictions, but get no word back from management. With having a 7 month old and apparently they DON'T care about those that smoke, it makes my wife and I want to get out of this building quicker than our lease is over. Keep sending emails out and most of the residents don't give a crap or read it. What's the point of rules that benefit the community if they don't implement them properly. The pool area has rules of no glass and residents must wear a certain color band while guest where another color and MINIMUM # of people per unit is so many that they don't even care. There can be a party at the pool with glasses of booze and management emails residents about it not being acceptable. Lastly, a unit next to ours (on the other side of the stairwell) had apparently college students in it with their music blasting and we could hear it pretty well. With our baby around 2 months old at that time and us trying to get sleep, we had to inform them it was too loud for being 11pm at night on a weeknight. I rarely write revies like this, but when being at a place for this long and things gradually change for the worst, others should be aware if they are like my wife and I where you do your best to obey rules and that basically goes out the window to create a crap environment. A few of our friend/neighbors feel the same way about this place now and we all can't wait to move out. Hope this helps with your decision

Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for these inconveniences. Although we do face the challenges of residents who violate the non-smoking policy or trash room policy, our goal is to provide the best living experience possible for our community. I would like to welcome the opportunity to meet in person and discuss further. Please feel free to contact me directly at jtyler@marqueeblock37.com
As the review says you can hear everything. Bathrooms are especially bad. Staffs are unresponsive. No smile. Amenities are broken for a long time and not fixed. Rooftop jacuzzi has been broken forever. Steam room has been out of order forever.
Property Manager at Marquee at Block 37, Responded To This Review
We know how frustrating it is to not have access to all the amenities you love and we sincerely apologize that the repairs to the hot tub and steam room have taken longer than expected. Weather has been a factor in some of the repairs and we are working as quickly as possible to get everything up running. Thank you for your continued patience!
I'm writing this 11pm in the evening and I wish I never moved in here because I can hear what my neighbors are talking through our shared wall. I never thought the soundproofing can be this poor in a new apartment building. It is impossible to fall in sleep with the loud music playing next door. I can literally hear their conversations and I'm not exaggerate things. My advice is don't move in here. It's overpriced and the poor soundproofing is just annoying. I'm sure you can find some other apartments with acceptable soundproofing and a much better price.
Property Manager at Marquee at Block 37, Responded To This Review
I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced problems with noise from the neighboring apartment. Hearing noise from a neighboring unit while trying to sleep is not something that should be happening. Please feel free to reach out directly so that we can discuss in more detail and resolve this concern. I'm the new property manager at Marquee and you can reach me at 312.372.3737 or leasing@marqueeblock37.com
