Everything you love about Richmond exists tenfold in Downtown: the history, the natural beauty, and variety of things to do. From its historical monuments and museums to its outdoor parks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Stroll through picturesque Capitol Square, visit the Virginia State Capitol to learn about the state’s history, or explore the city’s art galleries and theaters.
The James River flows through the center of Downtown, and residents can enjoy outdoor activities like kayaking, fishing, and hiking. The 3.5-mile Canal Walk along the river is ideal for bicycling and walking, and Byrd Park provides ample green space to relax and enjoy the city views. Explore Brown’s Island, host to a variety of concerts like the Richmond Folk Festival or spend the evening enjoying entertainment at venues like the National Theater or Dominion Energy Center.

Property Ratings at Marshall Street Apartments
The building was built in 1914. Honestly the worst issues are the roof at the moment. There are house centipedes and spiders that come in during the warmer months because the windows are original but I do really love the location, the price is decent, and I was able to bring my cat without having to pay fees because he is an ESA. The apartment Im in is honestly beautiful and once the windows are replaced it’s really just learning to clean the years of build up from previous tenants and move on from it (this apartment wasn’t exactly 100% clean like a new place when I moved in but you pick and choose your battles I guess). I’m just more upset there will be an automatic % increase to my rent and I will have to probably pay fees to leave.
This is the worst apartment I've ever stayed in. It's infested with insects like cockroaches, tics, silverfish, and centipedes. Almost all of the windows are broken and don't have a screen so you can't open them. The building is very old. The heating and air conditioning broke all the time. It's in a really sketchy area. The water had very low pressure. There were small nails sticking out of the floor all over the apartment. I should have realized how terrible it was by how excited the staff was that someone was finally renting it, but I didn't listen to my initial instinct. Speaking of the staff, there were a few times where additional charges would be added to the rent for no reason, and when my roommate and I were waiting for them to fix the error, we got charged a late fee for the rent. Avoid this place at all costs.
