Property Ratings at Mary Locke
The below post glorifying this apartment complex from three years ago is obviously out of date. Nothing about this place is special or safe which is the most concerning. On multiple occasions we have had to contact the police about homeless people sleeping in the hallways and stairwells of the complex. They lurk all around including the parking lot and dumpsters. When contacting the leasing office about it they simply told us to call the police instead of doing something about it themselves. Wise properties has never done anything improve safety or security and it continues to be a problem. Until this is fixed I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Aside from this the parking is terrible, there is something constantly wrong with the appliances. Just this year we've had problems with a ceiling, dish disposal, washer, dryer, and air conditioner. If you are looking for a safe affordable apartment where you feel comfortable and safe to have friends and family over look elsewhere, you are better off meeting with the homeless bums who hang out at the Krystals which is open 24/7 right next door.
My wife and I are about to move out of the building after living for one year. The apartment itself is stunning- high end finishes, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, washer/dryer included, big windows, ceiling fans (remote controlled), we had 12 ft ceilings on the first floor (don't know about the rest) as well as stained concrete flooring. The location is fantastic. You're on the north shore within walking distance of Coolidge park, restaurants, shops, the new Publix, Whole Foods, but you're just down Cherokee enough for it to feel more quiet. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the leasing office is a little difficult at times. We had a handful of misunderstandings where one thing was said but then taken back and because the lease itself was concise, it didn't spell out those details in contract form. Definitely double and triple check with them everything they say. They are great people who offer great residences though. All in all, its worth it!
