Despite a similar name, St. Paul’s Lowertown is different from downtown in both location and character. While most residents know Downtown St. Paul as the entertainment hub of the city, Lowertown — its neighbor to the east — is developing a unique identity all its own.
Art galleries, restaurants, and local businesses are setting up shop in the warehouses and factories that put St. Paul on the map in the 20th century. Mears Park and the greenway along the Mississippi River provide much-need recreation space in this growing city. Residents of Lowertown enjoy a booming nightlife scene, as well as short commute times thanks to the interstates around the area.

Property Ratings at Mears Park Place
I’ve been at mears park going on four years and I’ve never had any big problems, good management, they get to maintenance issues very fast. I feel safe, the amenities are nice. The only issue I’ve had is the fire alarm goes off a lot which is annoying but they can’t do much about people burning toast can they. This is a great place to live and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Hi, we are so happy to read such a great review about Mears Park Place! Feel free to reach out to us if you need anything. Have a wonderful day.
It's unfortunate. I once thought this was a great place to live. Over the years, we got to know Mears Park Place and their management team. It's highly unfortunate how shady they've been and how poorly we've been treated. Save yourself a headache and pay the extra $100-200 a month to live elsewhere in lowertown. Apartment flooded due to exterior leaks. I'm still waiting on repairs (7 months later, lol). Thanks for warping my speaker stand and end-table. I didn't even bring up my damaged property because I have no faith in this management team to make me whole if they can't even fix the apartment. Best of luck to the next resident, you'll get a couple floods in the summer when it rains and the wind is coming from the north... Heat was broken during December (both years), only took 4 maintenance requests to fix that this year. Roommates bike was stolen from the garage, thankfully they didn't steal mine, they only stole my lights, bag, seat, and other accessories! Have fun dealing with the homeless junkie sleeping in the elevator lobby or sneaking around your car in the garage! Security's a joke, security doesn't even abide by their own mask rules, so watch out for her if you care about the pandemic. Constant elevator outages (by the way, the elevators are tiny so best of luck moving in/out). Enjoy the fire alarms. Haven't even had the chance for them to rob me of my security deposit, but I have no doubts they'll nit-pick the heck out of this outdated apartment (I move out end of Feb, but will be leaving as early as humanly possible). I love Lowertown and Saint Paul, and at one point Mears Park Place. But I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Better looking elsewhere.

Loved living here, great location, great staff. However, when time came to submit for not renewing lease--- the apartment is shown on a very frequent basis. You are given 24hr notice, but shown so often I received a notice 11 out of 14 days during one stretch. If you work from home at all, be prepared that it may be shown during that time. Feels like you are a guest in your own apartment during that time and don't turn your notice in early. They only start showing it earlier. Last 3 months of a 12 month lease, the apt was being shown so regularly my cat was getting sick from anxiety of constant strangers coming through.
I've lived here for about 2 years now. Management is GREAT! I can walk to the farmer's market every weekend in the summer. The workout facilities are very up to date. There is 24 hour security. The underground, heated garage is worth it. If there is ANYTHING wrong with your apartment, they will be there to fix it right away, and they always let you know when they may need to enter your apartment and let you know once they have done so. I once called on a Saturday afternoon because of a possible leak, and someone answered and came to check on it right away. The prices are fairly good, especially for the location. Overall, it is a very good place to live.
Going on my second year here and I don't plan on leaving! It's In a prime location that is gaining a lot of attention. The building is always clean and the staff is SO friendly and helpful. The matinence is always taken care of asap, and the 24 hour security makes you feel so safe in the middle of the city! The amenities are fabulous, the pool, tanning room, huge laundry room the lovely court yard, and the cheapest under ground parking in the city! My only complaint is not having guest parking, they can always find street parking which is metered and free after 5, but they'll be changing it to 10 come first of the year. All and all the best apt I have ever lived!
If your looking for a well maintained complex with newly a renovated gym and common areas, this is the place for you ! Located in beautiful downtown St.Paul, kitty-corner from Mears Park. Enjoy music in the park and food trucks with your neighbors in summer. In the winter, stay out of the elements by taking the skyways to work. You can stop by the rental office after work or on the week-end to pick-up your packages. This is great during the holiday season. Also, use Cobornsdelivers to order groceries or take a short walk to Byerly's. Mears Park Place has many floorplans to choose from and some units even have washer/dryer in unit!
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed living here. We will unfortunately be moving out soon to a place much closer to where he works. If you like a fitness center, this apartment is probably the best (I have yet to see one that even comes close). It is newly remodeled, runs 24/7, is air conditioned very well, and has tons of different machines. You never hear your neighbors. The sound insulation in this place is amazing. I have been to many different apartments and they are not as sound proof as this one. Perhaps since it's located downtown, the company took extra care when constructing it. Office staff are awesome. They are very friendly and are willing to help you with anything. If something is broken, they tend to it right away and the mechanic does a great job at fixing it. They notify the tenants of any changes well ahead of time. If anything is happening that you need to know about, they post signage everywhere to make sure you see it. Other things: We've always felt safe, it's super nice just using the trash chute instead of having to go all the way downstairs, the elevators are very fast, they have shopping carts to help bring your stuff up, very reasonable pet policy, indoor pool, sundeck, and a GREAT location for Downtown St. Paul. It's 2 blocks away from the Saints Stadium and Light Rail as well as right across the street from Mears Park where they have weekly concerts scheduled and lots of food trucks. If you want an apartment downtown, this is the place to be.
I toured several apartments ranging from two-bedrooms to studio. The amenities are great and the location is just about perfect for me (I work downtown). However, I found it weird that you can live there with a dog but dogs aren't allowed to visit.
Property Manager at Mears Park Place, Responded To This Review
Thank you for touring our property and your positive comments. I do apologize for the confusion about visiting dogs. You can have a visiting dog, however; you must pay a pet deposit and fill out all necessary paper work. This is done to make sure our company breed restrictions are followed. Warmest Regards, Gloria J. Tollefson Property Manager | Mears Park Place
I have lived at Mears Park Place Apartments for almost 3 years and am so sad to leave. This is such a great place to live -so close to restaurants, a BEAUTIFUL park, and is connected to the skyway. The Farmer's Market is only blocks away! The management has been so helpful and accommodating and the entire staff is friendly, professional, accessible, and quick to respond. The maintenance team is exceptional. I have truly never had such a great rental experience and will miss living here!
