Property Ratings at Melia
*WARNING* DO NOT LIVE HERE…I have lived at Melia for a little over a year and it is the worst apartment you can ever live in. Theft from employees. Hot water has been off over 15 times since I’ve been here or no water. I have several maintenance request that they closed out without fixing. Missing smoke detectors, no washer or dryer, no dishwasher, broken disposal, stove doesn’t work properly, floor caving in, electrical problems, roach infestation, shower not working properly, holes in walls, carpet so old and disgusting, vents leaking yellow stuff, door frame is so bad the door can’t even lock, mold everywhere and foundation of the building cracking. Code enforcement doesn’t do anything but report, the apartment complex goes through new people like you change your underwear. “Assistant manager” doesn’t care and lies. They charge you for every little thing. There is illegal stuff going on in this apartment complex. Charging 300 to over 400 a month in water I have never spent that much in water in my life and they won’t show you proof of water usage. This place is a nightmare. Trash cans are so full due to cleaning crew or maintenance filling it up. Property is very dirty. You call the office no one answers. They say to come into the office so you can make payment arrangements or work on the issues in your apartment which is a big lie. Previous maintenance said the managers just trash the maintenance request and the assistant manager doesn’t care about the people which shows. Save your money and time.
GVA management are not here to improve resident's lives. They do not complete any maintenance requests. In order to get anything done you must contact code compliance in Texas. Stay away from these dilapidated apartments and drug haven.
This is the worst property you could ever live at. Don't waist your time and money getting stuck here. RUN, RUN somewhere else! I have had 5 different management groups in 2 years. Air conditioning issues, no hot water, bugs, mold, etc. Don't waist your time please!
The service is really bad when it rains the water gets in the first floor and the building old they have issues with plumping and etc…. They try to make excuses to take the deposit is really poor service.
None of the washing machines work, gun shots in the complex every now and then, a/c works great

Thank you for taking the time to give us your thoughts. Please let us know what machines are not working and we would be happy to get them fixed. Please call the office at 210-349-2726.
I enjoy the apartment complex. I put in a work order and they come within two days and are Covid-19 prepared. Management has been kind and has walked me thru payments with the new online website. My daughter enjoys the pool and the playground. I haven’t had any pest issues or a/c heater issues. The only reason I haven’t given a 5 star rating is because of the parking. Everyone owns like 3 or 4 cars and you have to constantly battle it out for a parking space! But other than that small thing, I haven’t had any issues.

Thank you so much for your kind words! The team works so hard and comments like this make their day
I believe everyone should be aware of our experience before considering moving into Melia apartments. We moved in November 20th, 2020 and it has been a nightmare since we moved in. Initially we “weren’t allowed to see the apartment” until after we signed the lease which seemed like a red flag but we were told our “renovated” apartments was ready to move into, which was indeed false. Our “renovated” apartment isn’t quite renovated, the cabinets are old and crooked, our “new” bedroom door has a hole in it, we have broken light fixtures and our air system has been broken since day one. We had been living for over a month with no AC/heater. A cold front passed for a couple of weeks, and our apartment had been below 50 degrees to freezing temperatures. We were promised portable heaters and *maintenance services but the staff at Melia didn’t keep their word. Now that the temperatures are rising, it is too hot to sleep at night even with a fan in use. What is also disgusting about living here is the infestation of large rats. We’ve had to throw out food because of the infestation. Rats aren’t the only issue as we have came across roaches. It’s ridiculous having to pay for a “pest service fee” when they cannot provide the service. The property manager has tried getting maintenance to help us with our issue but the rest of the staff have bad attitude, they’re unprofessional, disrespectful and incompetent. The maintenance team has came into our apartment to basically leave a mess and get nothing done. We left out of town for a week and came back to our downstairs restroom defecated by a staff member. Living at these apartments has left us hopeless about living comfortably in our home and it is only the beginning for us. I would hate to learn that other people might experience the same issues as we have. It is utterly absurd.

First apartment.... bad experience. Water is always off for “repairs”. Roaches at night, horrible neighbors... our apartment ALWAYS smells like weed and there’s constant loud music and kids all the time. When we moved in our kitchen cabinet’s had roaches that had been spray painted over, there was also white powder roach medicine all along the corners.. just don’t waste your money. Better off somewhere else.
I have lived in two units here and both the a/c just remains to be broken after telling the office time and time again. The 1st unit I would have to put my fan on the window to let some fresh air in and the 2nd unit the windows are glued shut I’m guessing from previous owners. I’ve complained about that as well because it’s also a fire hazard and it’s been about a month and a half since they said they’ll “fix it” and nothing yet. Parking is just horrible here especially since I live at the edge of the property and if I don’t find a spot I have to park about 100 feet away from my apartment. I also have to tell them to take off the pet fee they keep charging us when we don’t have any pets and it’s all just so frustrating sometimes. I honestly can’t wait till I move out and find somewhere better.
I’ve going on 2 years here and let me tell you try to take care of broken a/c, dish washer or any apartment device is no good. Mine been broken for 1 year and maintenance here is a joke and so is the people in the office running this place Never coming back even if they message me telling me to contact them tru phone or email.
don't move here. terrible people. terrible service. scammers. common thiefs. I had a six month lease. Left 2 month notice + notice that I wasn't renewing lease 30 days before moving out. It's in paper. Four weeks later I get a call from a debt collector saying I owe THE WORST apartment complex in the world two months rent for ending lease early + 285$ AFTER my deposit was deducted for damages to the apartment. 1) I lived their 6 months and my only furniture was a bed... how could I possibly do that much damage? 2) In honestly... I left the apartment cleaner than when I moved in (cockroach infested and disgusting with multiple broken appliances that I couldn't even use (the dishwasher for example)). 3) I moved in and literally had no hot water 3/6 months it was terrible. I bathed myself with baby wipes frequently during the cold months. I'll tell you right now... I'll be fighting this. There is no way Melia is getting a dollar of my money whether it ruins my credit or not. Not like I have anything to give them anyways...
Worst apartment ever. You have problems in your apartment? You won't get a thing fixed. Pool sounds nice and fun right? If it was actually open. It's closed pretty much all the time. Staff is pretty rude. Honestly, you're better off. Neighbors are great. Quiet. Probably the only good thing about this apartment complex.

Neighbors are nice people but horrible service our apartment during the summer (May-October) would not get below 78 degrees until midnight no matter what the A/C was on. We tried everything they told us to do and it never worked. We were then told that everything was fine and it was just "Summer Heat" but yet the front office was cool and crisp at 72 degrees. We complained multiple times until we were told nothing could be done and it was our problem. We also were hung up by the front office on multiple occasions and multiple times told they came into the unit to check it out when in fact we had been home the whole day and no one entered residence. SERVICE IS THE WORST I'VE DEALT WITH NEVER LIVE HERE!!!
We've killed sixteen rats while staying here -- our complex is infested with rats & roaches. Electricity flickers likely because of rats chewing at the electrical. Management refuses to fix absolutely anything -- only three men working on the maintenance team. Today, in the laundry facility (only three washers in one), two of the washers were flooded and out of order and smelled horribly. Sixteen rats... incredible.

Me an my husband went to take a look they showed us one unit and we wanted it well they ended up leasing it the next day so they showed us anther unit which had some issues like cracked ceiling air condition leak to where the ceiling was moist and bugs in the painted cabinets.so the next day they send us an email staying we had to pay 1400 before we move in but from what Stephanie said all we were going to have pay was for the app fee an the criminal background and August rent and the pro rate of julys so we called an asked why it was so much took one fee but tired to tell us we had to pay a deposit and I asked her if we could take a look amt the unit before we sign the lease she said everything is already fix an that we were suppose to sign the lease yesterday she basically telling me no I need to sign the lease first long story short we didn't end up moving in because of all theses issues

Ms. Cobarrubias, Here at Barcelo, we strive to make the application and move-in process as smooth as possible. We qualify everyone with the same rental criteria. Our move-in form, rental criteria, and application all outline community fees such as estimated prorated rent and a starting deposit that may be due at the time of move-in. Please reach out to us at 210-348-7777 should you have any further questions for our management team.
My family and I lived at Barcelo for 4 years. We stayed because we loved the area and the kids school. Not happy at all with my experience at Barcelo. The office staff is very unprofessional and the apartment itself had many issues. I would not recommend this place for anyone.
My mother, brothers, and I had high hopes for Melia Apartments. Considering there are not many affordable 3 bedroom apartments. (the nice ones being in nice neighborhoods.) We come to find that the apartment has mold in the cabinets, roaches at night, noisy neighbors above us, the plumbing in our kitchen constantly breaking. We have videos of our kitchen being flooded. I'm guessing our neighbors upstairs have a similar problem since we had another flooding, except it happened in the restroom. To fix it they had to rip a hole above the tub. It's unsettling to shower with a giant hole above you, but it took an entire week for them to fix it. It took a week, but in reality it should have been a two day repair. How do I know? Because the repair men came in once to look at it, and then after a couple days came to fix it...now we have a giant wooden board covering up the hole(that is currently leaking) instead. Rent is to be on time without exception, which of course is understandable, but when you have a boiler that breaks and no one shows up, it's frustrating. Maintenance I guess has improved a little, they try to be quicker, but with the lack of tools it makes it difficult. ALSO, parking is a nightmare. Yes, you can get reserved parking but if another member of your family has a car there will be a little bit of a walk. As a resident of this area I feel inclined to tell apartment seekers, that I don't feel this neighborhood is a safe one during the night. I hope someone finds this review helpful and good luck!
beautiful property and friendly staff!! Great community and location.
