Vibrant and historic Downtown Syracuse is much more than the city's hub. The cobblestone streets, wide sidewalks, and stately brick buildings create a fantastic shopping and dining district, while the neighborhood's proximity to Syracuse University adds a student dynamic. At the heart of Downtown Syracuse, Armory Square -- a large collection of historic warehouses and the armory that's now a museum -- is the city's nightlife hotspot. The Armory contains a large concentration of restaurants and bars as well as several unique shops.
Some of Downtown Syracuse's most beloved landmarks include the Clinton Square Ice Rink, the Museum of Science and Technology, and the historic Landmark Theatre. The ornate theater, decorated in rich red and gold, first opened in 1928. Another landmark, the McCarthy Building, was built in 1894 and is the oldest building in Syracuse.

Property Ratings at Merchants Commons
I have lived at Merchant Commons for three years and a half. This is the second apartment I have even stayed in my life, and way better than the first. I loved how big the apartment is (2bedroom 2 bathroom), Tony is a nice guy and it might take him two days to fix sth, but it's usually a minor issue so it's alright. The location is great, it's close to many restaurants and cafes. I really enjoyed my time there and the only reason why I left is because I am moving to another state. There are few things to mention though: 1) Parking was an issue, even though we were paying more to park on the first floor and not the ground, parking was not assigned. Throughout my staying there, I wasn't able to find a parking ten times. It is annoying and I really hope they will resolve this issue. 2) If you are a light sleeper, avoid the third floor (which is basically the first floor after Syracuse Media Group). It gets a bit noisy in the weekend when drunk people leave the bars, but honestly I only heard them four times living in higher floors 3) Having big windows on the corners is great, but I think there was a leak or it wasn't sealed. It gets really cold and we always had the heat on 72 minimum to 75. This is an issue for those who stay on the corners only Other than that, I already miss this place.
There aren't enough words as to how over priced, underwhelming, unsafe, badly managed, and frustrating this property was to live in.
