Property Ratings at Merrifield at Dunn Loring Station Apartments
Management responds immediately to any request which is much appreciated. New clubhouse and pool are amazing. Very family oriented with friendly neighbors. Great playgrounds, gym and basketball courts. Location is so convenient to metro, shopping and the Mosaic district. Very good value.
Lived here for a few months. It didn’t take long for the mice to show up. No one could help us. The pest control person told us to move because it wouldn’t get better. Their management was terrible and didn’t help us at all.
The office does not respond to any issues or emails. They are unprofessional and disorganized. We have never encountered such a group and have been baffled by the lack of service and constant issues. If you email the staff, you will not get a response. Go to another local apartment complex.

I am the type of person to always give benefit of the doubt. So when I saw the affordable price with the newly renovated apartments I was certain I wanted to live here. A few months into living here I found cockroaches. This was an on going problem for months. I regret living here immensely. Most days I have to leave to stay elsewhere because the constant cleaning and treatments don’t seem to fix the roach issue. Not to mention recently I woke up and my car was randomly towed when I am a resident and I have a permit to park here. The laundry services are extremely expensive (5 dollars per small load) and the washers do not work well. Dishwasher is old and does not work well. I work from home and I have to deal with dogs barking constantly and children running up and down the stairs. On two separate occasions I had unknown people knocking on my sliding glass door late at night. I do not feel safe, the apartments are crawling with roaches, management is incompetent.

Cockroaches and mice. That is all this place has to offer. Do not get deceived by its location. In the end, no matter how clean you keep the apartment, they will charge you one way or the other, without giving any kind of proof of damage.

In living at Merrifield at Dunn Loring Station, I've really enjoyed its strategic location and having easy access to the beltway, I66, Route 29 and Route 50. My office is in DC and I regularly visit work sites in Bethesda/Potomac as well as Great Falls/McLean and no matter where I'm returning from, the commute is so simple. Even when I choose to take public transportation, having the Dunn Loring Metro within a ten-minute walk makes it a breeze. While by the Metro, I also have access to a variety of shops, restaurants and services, including Harris Teeter. Taking a leisurely stroll or a quick drive to Mosaic District gives me access to much, much more, including Angelica Film Center and the convenience of Target. While currently suspended due to COVID, from 6:15 AM - 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM, Mosaic District has a free continuous shuttle from and to the Dunn Loring Metro which anyone is welcome to hop on. To be within walking distance of all of this just makes life simple. Just a 10-minute drive from home is also Tysons Corner Mall and the various other amenities that are available in the Tysons area. The leasing office and maintenance teams have been fabulous at responding to my requests over the years, with the maintenance team being very responsive even at odd hours of the night and on weekends. Marc at the leasing office is a film buff and has graciously pointed me towards a great many movies. The few times I’ve watched something he hasn't yet had the time to see, I’ve revelled at the opportunity to give him a brief review and recommendation. One of the things that has really impressed me over the years is how well the grounds are maintained. This may be an unusual mention however the landscaping is always very well maintained and is that much more pleasant in the garden apartment setting that we’re in. Coming home to great greenery is a great feeling and because my unit (a spacious one at that) is on the ground floor, it literally is my front yard. During snow storms, I’ve consistently been among the few who make it to work because the maintenance team does an amazing job of regularly plowing the roadways as each storm progresses. In 2010 I had the most memorable time having been amongst the few cars around town during one of the heaviest recorded storms, only because the maintenance team did such an amazing job of making sure we had access to all the roadways. It has and continues to be a delight to live here.

Hello and thank you for your positive review of Merrifield at Dunn Loring Station Apartments! We’re so glad to hear that you’re loving our spacious apartments and convenient location. We appreciate your feedback. Have a great day!
I moved in recently to a renovated apartment. Beautiful finishes and large rooms. I love to cook and the kitchen is huge and the appliances are high quality. Gas cooking, which was one of the reasons I rented here. I have a large table which fits in to the dining/living area. There are other newer choices in the area but Merrifield has the size and luxury I was looking for.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a bigger apartment at a reasonable price by the metro and we were excited to live in the Merrifield at Dunn Loring Station apartments. The renovated units are modern, beautiful and functional. USB ports, dimming lights, modern flooring & design and a great kitchen with tons of storage. The NEWLY renovated fitness center is awesome and huge with tons of equipment. Basketball court, tennis courts and common areas all over. It’s a huge property and surprisingly very quiet and calm. The Maintenance team is very quick, nice and efficient. All handled online. And lastly, leasing staff and management are very approachable and happy to help resolve any questions or issues. I would highly recommend for anyone looking in the Northern VA area :)

We've been a tenant at Merrifield at Dun Loring for over ten years. Everyone from the staff, to management, to maintenance are very professional and always attentive to resolving any concerns. We have never had any issues that was not resolved to our satisfaction. With the rising rental rates in the Vienna area, their rates are very reasonable and competitive and if we may say, worth every penny.

During my 2 months I saw over 150 roaches in all parts of their lifecycle. Though they were concentrated in the kitchen, there were a sickening amount all over every other part of the unit and my furniture. From the start of my lease I was on pest lockdown: rarely cooked, kept the unit spotless, didn’t leave out a drop of water, keep all trash in the fridge, removed all clutter, had rings of diatomaceous earth around everything, carried a Raid can like it was an extension of my body, etc. Still, I saw so many every day and night that I can only imagine what a normal living situation would look like. Roaches are a health concern. Even the on-site maintenance crew mentioned they had roach problems and offered to share some of their supplies with me, which was very kind of them. Though management talked about potentially moving me to a renovated unit where the roach issues are reportedly less prevalent, the evidence of the pests all over my furniture meant I couldn’t just move or they might move with me. Because the infestation was not my fault, I broke the lease with no penalty but was forced to put all of my belongings in a storage unit and professionally treat and quarantine them for a full month. Pest control is a joint effort between a landlord and tenants, but there’s clearly a long history here of a lack of reporting/upkeep from enough tenants and the exterminator keyed me in that management has been doing the equivalent of spraying a wildfire with a hose and hoping it goes away. He’s been telling them for years and years the right way to control the problem, but they’ve been refusing to do it until they decide to renovate a unit. Problem is, when roaches live in other units then they can still travel to the new ones, though there are fewer opportunities since they have fewer cracks. Essentially, I paid to live on roach lockdown in an infested unit and then had to pay further to ensure that I wouldn’t carry the pests anywhere else with me. Absolute waste of money and an embarrassing experience to have to go through. Agreeing with other reviews from a few places, it’s a pity that the complex is infested because there were many great things otherwise. Sadly, anyone with a reasonable standard of healthy living cannot stay here, but if you’re willing to deal with the potential roaches for the other benefits then I applaud your resilience and hope you enjoy the Fios, parking, location, and roomy floorplans.
There are some good points in the reviews before this one. There are definitely loads of roaches. Haven't seen any rats yet (except in the trash areas). They do a very intense bug spraying twice a year, but it only covers the cabinets. Your best bet is to make sure you do a GREAT job of keeping your kitchen clean, otherwise it's scary. Also, make sure you don't live in the floor level. That's where there's a lot of roaches and likely rats. Overall, the price is decent. You get a lot of space. There's ample parking. And the service has been nothing but nice to me. Not a great property by any means, but definitely good.
I lived here less than two months and they keep it very discreet they have a huge roach problem. My apartment itself was fine but I opened the door around 10:15 one night to go out and I swear about 10-15 roaches ran in through the opening of the door. I called to complain , they could care less it took me a whole two weeks to get them to get an exterminator in here. They have no urgency to you unless you calling to look at the property. It’s not well kept, I’ve seen rats almost every night by the building . And they poison them and then leave the poisoned rats just lay out in the grass for weeks the smell is rancid !!!!!!
Customer service is worst. I wont recommend anybody ever to stay here.
Wanna be an exterminator when you grow up? This is the place for you! Merrifield at DLS offers hands-on training. You'll get a close look at German cockroaches, silverfish, and crickets. And you'll learn the various techniques for killing them. You'll never truly eliminate all the pests, but hey, that's a good thing, right? It's the education that keeps on giving! To sign up for classes, visit the leasing office today.
Worst apartment . Guys please be aware . You can notice only cockroaches and manner less leasing staff .
Hi Renters, I am a current resident at Merrifield. The location of the apartment complex is very good, but the major problem with this apartment is its roaches problem. The apartments are quite old, with very limited storage place, most units are non-renovated. The roaches problem over here is kind of huge!! We keep our kitchen so very clean, still every morning and evening we see 8-10 roaches everyday, its actually everywhere - within the kitchen cabinets, drawers, near the cooking burner unit, around the dishwasher..just everywhere!!! Seems like it is a roach infested apartment complex. We cannot keep any food items open, even for 10 mins. If we start cooking, we can't take a break in between..as roaches might come from nowhere!! We have to finish whatever cooking we have planned to do, clean the cooking area and surroundings, and preserve the food in refrigerator. We cannot also keep open vessels and have to be prompt to put it in the dish-washer after finishing our meal, again for the same reason!! Every 5 months the Merrifield Management is organizing a pest control session, for which you will have to completely vacate our kitchen and washroom for 2 days, the pest control guys will come in and do some treatments to kill the existing cockroaches. Then again the next day you have to stuff back all your kitchen stuffs - but Alas!! The effort completely goes in vain, as from the very next day you will be able to see roaches every now and then!! This is utterly frustrating!!!! As you are putting all your effort to vacate the kitchen every 5 months for pest control purpose, but you are not getting any of the desired result that you are expecting!!!! I would recommend renters to NOT rent this place and move to somewhere else instead where you will get value for the money you are paying!! Even we are also planning to move out. Hope this review will be beneficial. Thanks, Sam.
have been living here from past few years only because it's right next to beltway. the apartment needs complete makeover , appliances are outdated and yes the roaches are there , everywhere. have tried everything but nothing helps.
Staffs would do anything for money! Very unpleasant and waiting for every single opportunity to suck your blood (exactly like the bugs found in every flats in this community). Stay away and just because you have your friends here, don't move and give an opportunity to the looters aka staffs!
I don't understand why some reviews are reporting pest issues - I've never seen a single pest in the 2 years that I've lived in the Merrifield at Dunn Loring Station apartments. I have a renovated unit with a brand new kitchen and bathroom, and it's so affordable! This place is a hidden gem. No complaints, and I've loved having the pools, basketball court, and gym all within a few steps from my front door.
This nightmare of an apartment complex has become the hotel from the Shining. There are strange noises at all hours of the night from every wall and corner of the apartment. Quiet hours mean nothing here. The place smells like the mistakes and regret of every past tenant and current tenant, but with a wiff of cheerfully suffocating fresh paint. You can try to contact building management for assistance but their office hours are so elusive, you'll wonder if they even existed in the first place. Frustrated, you will call the after hours line, only to be told off for your request by a particularly hateful voice. However it is really conveniently located.
I have lived here for about 4 months now and compared to the area this apartment features a prime location walkable to the metro and the floor plans are quite large for the price. However, I have run into a bit of a bug issue but was offered free extermination. Sound levels are great for an apartment building and I hardly hear my neighbors and when I do it is usually only in the bathroom. Some things I really wish this apartment had was consistent package delivery options, laundry in unit is an amenity I take for granted. The leasing office has some very nice staff and are always willing to help. I do not take advantage of most of my amenities like the gym and the pools. But the free parking is definitely a often over looked amenity since most places charge. But it's a very average apartment hence the 3 stars.
quiet neighborhood, clean surroundings, near the metro station
The apartments are okay. Not bad. though they are old but to be fair they don't ask for a lot of $$
Cheapest rent within a 10 minute walk of the Metro in NoVA or any safe neighborhood in DC. 24/7 maintenance, two pools, one gym, laundry in every building, two free guest parking spots, and huge and spacious inside. We also love our huge sliding glass door that opens up onto a large spacious shared back yard!
Hello all!! I've been living in this amazing community for close to 10 years now and it just keeps getting better! Between the incredible accessability to shops, restaurants, movie theatre, golf course, and most importantly metro I see no reason to leave. But I think the best thing about this apartment complex is the staff!!! I've never lived somewhere where the office staff knows me by name! They are incredibly helpful and offer 24 hour help, even if u left your keys at work (which I have!). I 150% absolutely recommend this beautiful neighborhood to everybody!!!
Near the metro station and the Great Wall supermarket
Staff is unfriendly and they never listen to your words.Kept complaining about no hot water in restroom and roaches in kitchen But no use.
I have been living her for almost 2 years. I will move to other apartment soon. This community is very old . The quality of amenities and appliances are ZERO. The maintenance will take forever until fix your problem. The biggest issue is BUGS seriously there are billions of them, shortly you will get used to bugs and hung out with them. The only reason that makes you live her is the metro station.
HORRIBLE! Unfriendly people taking calls during emergency service hours, and indifferent staff in the leasing center. No hot water for almost entire winter season and innumerous complaints only result in "we are working on it". Full of bugs, roaches, and creeky noisy floors. Caught 2 mice already. ONLY reason to live here is walkable to metro. TINY bathrooms also.
