Property Ratings at Metro Tower Apartments
Save your money, dirty, loud, unprofessional management. Car theft all the time. Elevators always broken. Hot mess and it’s worse in the summer.
Security deposit is cheap so be careful when moving out. They charge for EVERY little detail. Staff are very involved with visitors, so try not to have frequent visitors. If you do have visitors, monitor their parking as they are very strict about parking including overnight parking. Laundry facilities are very small and filthy, and are on each floor. They are often being repaired so you may have to use a laundry room on another floor. Elevators require frequent maintenance as well. The fire alarms get triggered several times a month, so good luck when knowing when to actually get out. There’s also only 2 dumpsters for the entire building which means they’re always overflowing. Due to COVID, packages are being left in the hallways near the entrance. I do not recommend this place for families or young adults.
So we’ve lived here for about 3 months now. Definitely cheap but it’s not terrible. Only issue is at least one elevator goes out every weekend. But remember it’s an old building so it’s not really the apartment staff’s fault, it’s just old and elevators are expensive. And the actual building doors kinda don’t want to let go of the key. We even had the power go out for MAYBE a minute before the generator kicked in. Then the water went out for half an hour the following morning. Might not even be related. But honestly it’s not bad at all, I’d definitely recommend it. Really quiet and well insulated apartments. Only really hear people in the hallway or if someone drops something upstairs. Everyone is really nice and polite, people held tons of doors for us when we were moving in on a cold rainy day.
I have lived at Metro Towers since 2013 and this is where I call home. They have been busy updating the apartments building since I’ve been here, painted building, new elevators, new floor in the main lobby, new generator system and repaving the parking lot. The washers and dryers have been taken over by a private company and they are pretty prompt with repairs. The staff is great; Deb always seems to have everything under control and is never too busy to help with the littlest issues. She always makes you feel welcome when you walk in the office. I wish I had the same dedication and enthusiasm she has for her job. Repairs I needed done in my apartment have been done in a timely fashion and the residents here have been courtesy and friendly. I enjoy living at Metro Towers!
Metro Towers FREQUENTLY has EMERGENCY FIRE EVACUATIONS. Great for handicapped people who rely on the elevator. These evacustions occur at the LEAST 3.times per month. Elevators are completely shut down leaving residents of all floors, I was 10th floor to walk all steps to escape potential danger. While I was there virtually ALL were FALSE ALARMS Harrison Fire Department sent a truck every single time. I asked the Firemen and that is how I know. Washers and dryers are frequently broken down and you do not find out until the machine shuts down mid cycle. Residents are nice. Everybody was nice to me. Some exceptions: One time a heavy glass pie dish was thrown my way from an upper balcony and smashed next to my feet while I was walking across the front (facing bldg) right side parking lot at night coming back to my apt. The manager Debbie is overly sweet and is the most fake insincere woman I have ever encountered. If you want to meet nice people as in residents you will, but be cautious about EVERYTHING THERE.
I found metro towers on apartments.com and was surprised that heat and water was included in the great deal. This is a great place to live for just starting out like me but the building is a bit dated. From the 12th floor from my balcony I can see the lake to my left and straight ahead I can see detroits GM building and nothing but tree tops. The parking lot is very large with paid parking spots under a structure. There's a pool open every summer that's free for the use of the residents. The overall management of the building is ran fairly well and reasonably priced .
Love the people in the office! Super sweet and try to do everything they can. Things do take forever to get fixed by the maintenance men so I usually have to do it myself. But there is a lot of friendly people here. There's good and bad just like every other place. Getting free rent would be a huge relief and a huge load off my shoulders i'm only 18 and i'm trying so hard to be on my own and be independent. Not having to pay rent would be so much easier and I wouldn't have to worry. I would be soo grateful
Looking to move due this place is unpleasant. The other residents steal shopping carts from Kroger and leave them on the property. Free rent would be truly helpful to move to a better apartment.
I was surprised by the friendliness of the people in my building. Everyone who I have come in contact with has shown kindness and concern. So refreshing!
