Property Ratings at Midtown at WKU
Moved our daughter into a 2 bedroom this weekend, October 28. What a nasty place. Mold in toilets. Hair clogging up bathtub. Mold on ceilings and in corners. Front door threshold rotted. Mold on threshold. Hair around bathroom faucet.Ceiling fan too wobbly to use. Their excuse…well it is a bunch of college students living here. Wow!! The unit has been vacant since July. They’ve had three months to get the place ready to move in. BEWARE!!!
The parking here in the first few weeks has been horrible. I've had problems such as getting towed and not being able to find parking as well as many other tenants who all have parking passes. Tow trucks come by every 30 minutes looking for a car to tow, not genuinely trying to be the good guys clearing up the parking lot but more than likely costing the tenants who are more than likely college students so they can make a quick buck. Like in a situation like mine where I got home from school and before the next morning it was towed causing me to miss class and costing money that I shouldn't have to pay.
Beautifully appointed apartments and the staff is so welcoming and helpful.
I love living here in midtown, the people who work in the office are super nice, it’s close to campus, and it’s an awesome community for college students and pet friendly.
We moved our daughter into Midtown 2 weeks ago. The experience was awful mainly because of the condition of the unit we moved her into. It has not been cleaned or inspected before we arrived. The list of issues was numerous, but included the following: ceiling fans with so much caked on dust we had to removed the blades to clean them, vents and air returns that were filthy (I don't want my daughter breathing that air), refrigerator was dirty, kitchen cabinets doors and interiors were dirty, oven was dirty, hard floors had not been cleaned (there are black raised spots that are sticky feeling), carpets had not been cleaned or vacuumed (my daughter found nail clippings on her bedroom floor), & sliding doors had not been cleaned. We noted this and many other things in the Move-In check-list as instructed by Midtown staff and I also logged maintenance tickets to make sure they were addressed. I spoke with a rental manager and someone from customer service that works in the central office in Missouri and both were polite. I will also note that the front desk staff is very polite as well. The result was the following: $50 rental credit on the account for my time and trouble (we had already spent 5 hours cleaning and will have more when I return this weekend), an explanation that they do not have cleaning people on staff therefore any cleaning that still needs to be done was not their responsibility & cancellation of the maintenance tickets related to move-in cleanliness. In my opinion, that is poor customer service and a lack of pride in the apartment complex to allow a resident to move into a place in that condition and then refuse to remedy the situation. This situation could have been addressed by hiring a cleaning company to come in and correct the remaining problems. I do NOT recommend this place and would urge parents and students to think carefully before renting an apartment at Midtown.
The only thing that’s good about this apartment complex is the location. They’re cheaply made and overpriced. If something is stolen, don’t expect to get it back or have a report written up or anything. The only security they have are the people putting boots on cars. There are more affordable housing options in the area.
Midtown is such a great place to live as a college student. The employees are always happy to help you with any problem you have, especially Charleigh. She is always so sweet and bubbly.
Great location and staff is always so helpful! Prices are unbeatable.
Midtown provides the perfect living space with lots of convenient amenities. I would recommend everyone live here
We are thrilled with everything about Midtown. MacKenzie was so helpful with everything. My daughter and her friends love their new home. Spacious, great amenities, and clean. I’m so happy we chose Midtown.
Great staff, conveniently located, and events for students! The complex is a great place to live and still have the college campus experience.
I went by today and took a tour with Madison and the apartments are so much nicer in person than online
Units are spacious and in style. Respond quickly to questions and maintenance needs. Mackenzie has been wonderful to work with in making our living arrangements suitable for my roommate and I.
Despite a very negative experience in my apartment (bugs, rude manager, broken fridge for over a month, etc...) I truly have enjoyed using midtown's facilities such as their gym, pool and especially study lounge. Midtown describes themselves as 'student housing.' They literally have WKU school breaks written into their lease (saying they are allowed to enter without warning during said-breaks). Therefore, as a student, I signed my lease assuming they would be very considerate of my demanding study needs. HOWEVER... I have quickly realized that Midtown hires VERY unprofessional employees to work their front, main office, which happens to be directly connected to the study lounge. Almost every single time I have been in the study lounge studying for a big exam or simply doing homework, which happens to be often, I have been distracted by the workers screaming, face timing their friends, gossiping with each other, etc. Multiple workers work at once and they are constantly running in and out of the study lounge, making it extremely difficult for anyone who is in there to focus. They hold meetings in the study lounge, clean out supply closets, etc. in the middle of a crowded room while multiple students are trying to work. There have been days that workers have come in, sat down and watched netflix out-loud and single-handedly forced students, including myself, to leave the lounge. SO, although many of the facilities are very comfortable to use, I have found myself using them after the workers have left for the day. This is very unprofessional (along with many other complaints that have been raised about this complex) and disappointing for a very expensive apartment complex that is supposed to be focused around students.
I have had roaches since the day I moved in and have had to empty my pantry twice from the infestation. They have also joined me for showers and crawled on my face in my sleep. After needing it sprayed for the fourth time the "property manager" came up, commented that he hadn't been in a unit like mine before. Then proceeded to berate me (the tenant) in my own apartment. This isn't the kind of experience you should expect from an apartment priced at this point. This place is a nightmare to deal with, you're better off looking elsewhere.
Midtown has been a great place for my daughter to live. It is safe and very close to campus.
The best quality apartments in Bowling Green! The location is great too.
Signing my lease with Midtown was the best decision I made. As soon as I walked into the lobby I felt at home. Everyone who worked in the office was so helpful and kind. I had a tour of the facility and was blown away by how nice everything was. Midtown is by far the nicest apartments I looked at. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen is gorgeous. The gym is big and has a lot of workout equipment and it over looks the rooftop pool. It is also minutes away from campus and downtown BG. Being able to walk to campus everyday and not having to worry about parking is a great bonus. Living at Midtown is like being at a luxury resort.
At first, picking Midtown as my new apartment seemed like a great idea. It was right next to campus. Everything was new so the price was understandable. But, it seemed like the furniture and everything else in there was cheap and easily breakable. I graduated in May, so I cleaned my room before I left to go home, but my lease didn't end till July. When I left, I took everything with me and there was nothing left in my room. When I was home but my lease didn't end, I got a tip that someone was living in my room over summer so I called the front desk to notify them about it. Later on in the month, Midtown sends me a bunch of charges including 3 bags of trash for $25 apiece. My "damages" charge was over $200. So, a total of $75 for trash. I just graduated college so that kind of money is quite a bit to me. They showed me the pictures of said trash and none of it was mine or was there when I moved out. I told them it was most likely the person who moved into my room while I was gone. Plus, there was not nearly enough trash to fill 3 trash bags. It may have just taken one, if that. They must have used grocery bags or the smallest ones they could find. They still told me I was responsible and that I should have come back to my apartment to look around and see if they left trash. I don't live in the same city as the apartment so I wasn't going to drive a couple hours just to see if whoever lived in my apartment while I was gone might have left something there. In summation, Midtown is a greedy apartment complex looking to take advantage of mainly college kids. It might be nice to live in while you're there, but when it's time to move out, you'd better bring in professional cleaners or they're gonna charge you quite a bit for it.
