Property Ratings at Mill at Still River
The converted mill apartments of The Mill At Still River in Winsted, CT are airy, spaceous and peaceful. The mill overlooks the Still River and within walking distance of downtown. But the real attraction here are the eclectic mix of tenants and the best landlords and maintenance staff! Other amenities include a smoke free environment, off street parking and washers and dryers on each floor.
The river flows by. The ducks and other birds, the squirrels and chipmunks. Swim and race around and I have to pinch myself to make sure I am not in a dream. I am in a historic Mill converted into the greatest open living space...high ceilings complete with pipes and big beams. Paradise!
My daughter is a student at the local college in Winsted and needed housing for her studies. I was delighted to find such a lovely and safe setting within easy walking distance to her classes. Both Paula and Dave (the owners of the building) watch over my daughter and are available anytime she loses her keys or any number of mishaps which have occurred. Their concern is above and beyond their landlord responsibilities. I highly recommend their lovely apartments as a WONDERFUL experience for any concerned parent. The renovated apartments have beautiful exposed brick, exposed beams, large windows, and lots of character! My daughter is delighted to have a water view from her windows and pet ducks as well!
The landlords are not very good. The one who does maintenance is ok. The apartments themselves are decent. The brick and exposed beams are pretty cool, but the kitchen appliances are very outdated and don't always work the greatest. The walls aren't very thick which makes it so that you can hear your neighbors talking often and can hear TV's, radios, etc quite clearly. Doing laundry is a pain because the machines eat up your quarters and are very small. Usually you have to run the drier twice for your clothes to be dry. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Not even my worst enemy.
I loved this place from the moment I read about it on their website. The place is absolutely beautiful and spacious, (I love the exposed beams, the huge windows and the view), The location is ideal, the management welcoming and the rent affordable. It is clean and well maintained. It's so obvious the people who own the building care about the property and the residents. When I visited, I felt like I was coming home. I am so happy to say, I will be moving into my new home here in just a few weeks. It's everything I was looking for.
