About Mill No. 1 Apartments
Mill No. 1 is an adaptive reuse of 19th century cotton mill buildings into a mixed-use development project of apartments, offices and restaurants, developed by Terra Nova Ventures, LLC. The architecture team, Alexander Design Studio, has figured out how to make this complicated project work, while keeping the integrity and character of the historical buildings. The buildings straddle the Jones Falls stream for about a third of a mile stretch of this pristine and beautiful section of the Jones Falls. This setting is what distinguishes and makes the property unique among the mill buildings situated in the Jones Falls Valley in Baltimore. Text or call for more information!
Mill No. 1 Apartments is an apartment community located in Baltimore City County and the 21211 ZIP Code. This area is served by the Baltimore City Public Schools attendance zone.

Hampden is only of Baltimore’s trendiest neighborhoods to live and is known for its quirky flair. Once a 19th-century mill town, Hampden has transformed into an enclave for food, nightlife, and art. The neighborhood’s main drag is “the Avenue,” a thoroughfare with an impressive set of independent businesses. Art galleries, vintage shops, and diverse eateries with 3-D signage shape Hampden’s unique culture. Special events like the annual Miracle on 34th Street celebration and Hon Fest (a celebration of beehive hairdos) abound in this bustling neighborhood. Affordable to upscale rentals in every style are available for rent from new apartments to charming rowhouses. Adding a youthful flavor to the area, Hampden is also near Johns Hopkins University, so it’s a great choice for students, faculty, and staff.

Property Ratings at Mill No. 1 Apartments
This apartment has the aesthetics you'd dream of, with all the amenities lacking as a balance. You can't have it all... just know that Jersey never gets better.
We've been looking in the Hampden area for our next apartment, and contacted all of the renovated mills. As soon as we spoke with JersyAnn at Mill No. 1, we were sold. We are moving from out of state, and JersyAnn went above and beyond to show us multiple apartments via FaceTime. She was incredibly helpful, and the apartments were beautiful. They checked all the boxes, and some more. If great management is important to you in an apartment complex, I definitely recommend!
The Mill is absolutely wonderful. The lack of breed restrictions for dogs was our initial draw (we own a Pit mix and finding an apartment that does not ban them is next to impossible), but once we saw the location and other amenities, we were sold. My wife and I are currently living in one of the top-floor 2-story 2BR/1BA units, and it is nothing short of excellent. The area is safe, as it utilizes the buffer of Falls Road, Druid Hill Park and the Jones Falls to keep much of the nonsense out. Neighbors are friendly and welcoming (even those folks from surrounding houses/apartments), staff is responsive and helpful, and the apartments are well put together. They incorporated exposed brick and wood beams to remind you that it is a repurposed mill, but they are entirely unobtrusive and gave someone that isn't into interior design some guidance with establishing a theme. I83 runs parallel to the length of the MIll, and provides ambient city noise. Bikes can be a bit irritating, as they tend to open up their throttle along the straightaway of I83 next to us, but it's nothing we aren't able to sleep through at night with the windows open. The Falls itself (and the lightrail line) runs between the Mill and I83 and is fast-flowing enough that it doesn't stink at all, as it tends to do at some of the slower, meandering parts of the Falls. It's all within walking distance of 'the Avenue' (36th Street) for all of your bar and restaurant needs. Druid Hill Park, Hopkins and the Woodberry LR stop are all within walking distance, as well. There are 2 restaurants being built out in the basement, so now is definitely the time to move in, before the Mill becomes more of an attraction. I wish the infinity pool were heated, as it is covered during the Summer months that it is available; Being in the shade, it runs a bit cool. I sound like I'm a salesman or something, but seriously, give Brendan a call. Can't recommend this place enough.

We moved in last year and have had a great time at Mill 1. The building is beautiful and the manager on premises is amazing. We live in a single and have a ton of space because the layouts were constructed really well. We use the facilities (gym, pool) all the time. We haven't taken full advantage of the communal space, but it is nice and well kept. We have had no major issues so far. All the small things that come up are fixed immediately. We would recommend this building to anyone looking for a new development!

I have lived in Mill No. 1 for over a month now, and I have been very pleased and impressed. I was most impressed, when I first saw the building and the unit, with the taste with which the building was renovated. Many new apartment buildings, including warehouse/mill-type conversions, are not built to preserve the original character of the space, but Mill No. 1 seems to have been designed to do just that. The hardwood floors in my unit, specifically, seem to be original and have great character. Additionally, the appliances in my unit are high-quality and in good working order, and the fixtures and interior design aspects are pleasant and impressive. Overall, the building is well-maintained and clean, and the staff is very responsive to any needs I have had. I am enjoying living here, and I have no doubt that I will continue to do so for the remained of my time here.
I've been living here for a little over a year now and I couldn't be happier. The building itself is beautiful and the apartments a very modern. It's in an awesome area, you can walk just about any where. If you need to call for maintenance, they are there within 48hrs. Brendan is awesome as well! He listens to your requests and try's to make it happen. If you have the chance to live here, you should definitely do it!
