Property Ratings at Mohawk Terrace
January 8, 2024 I chose to make Mohawk Terrace Apartments my home once I saw all the rooms were spacious with very large windows letting in the light. Even the hallways are spacious, well lit and kept clean and unlittered. Laundry rooms are convenient on lower level ... again, kept clean and well maintained. My apartment is on the second level and my porch is large enough for a good sized table and chairs. I love having friends to dinner and entertaining outside, weather permitting. Many apartments have views of the Mohawk River --- beautiful, no matter what season. The last thing I need to note before closing ... Rental Agent, Jaylene, the face of this community, will make sure any needs you may have or problems you need solved are taken care of in a timely and professional manner.
Going on 3 years now at Mohawk - we love it - great location close to Latham, Clifton Park & for my wife who works in Albany its about 15 minute drive, tops, to her job. Love the property and my neighbors - its quiet, the apartment is big enough for my wife and I - she loves the central air which great in the summer as well. Laundry in the building is convenient too - staff is super nice, efficient, & trustworthy.
I have lived in Mohawk Terrace for over 20 years, and I have been extremely happy here. The living room and bedroom are both large and it is usually quiet. There is central air and I have a patio. Maintenance staff and office staff have always been very helpful to me. It is a close walk to the bike trail on the Mohawk River. Complex is set in a park like setting which is nice to walk.
Great place to call "home". We lived there for almost 6 years. The entire staff always greet you with a smile and are very helpful to our needs, and are quick to attend to any problems that arise . Especially Jaylene at office and Bill the maintenance guy were superb. The grounds and facilities are kept clean every day by friendly courteous workers. Price was very reasonable compare to the other apartments around in Clifton park area.
Although I was only at Mohawk Terrace for about a year I enjoyed my time there and was satisfied with what it had to offer. My apartment was clean when I moved in; it was spacious with a good amount of storage that fit my needs. The office staff was helpful when I needed to contact them and the grounds are well maintained. I cleaned the apartment when I left and my deposit was returned to me. It's also a short walk/drive to a nice walking path along the Mohawk River for anyone looking to get some exercise.
I’ll just start with objective facts. Then some opinion. You can scroll to the end for my TL;DR. In no particular order, the following has occurred: I did not have a functioning doorbell. Replacement was not completed because it would require a replacement of the entire intercom system. I was told this was too expensive and considered a “privilege” because it is not in the lease. The appliances are literally from the 1970s. My fridge had an extremely loud compressor (80 + decibels measured on my phone) when turning on. This sounded like a jarring rattle. Bathrooms, countertops, and closet doors also appear to have been from the 70s, including the colors. Keeping my apartment at around 65 degrees during the coldest part of the winter yielded $230-260-ish electric bills. I was told, “Well, you get what you pay for” Rent price goes up about 2.5-3% every year. This is non-negotiable. When asking to have my lawyer review my lease renewal, the landlord opted to not renew my lease. There are very limited staff for apartment fixes, I have only seen one. The front/ main door to Apartment building 4 has not been able to consistently lock. This allowed hallways to drop in temperature to a measured 48 degrees in the coldest months. The windows and doors are drafty. Snow plowing usually starts 7 am ish. Lots not salted. The two women in the office handle all the business for the landlord who is always absent and lives in Florida for part of the year. I have never met the landlord.
I lived here from 2019-2020, at the time it was a great place to live. I left the apartment cleaner than it was when I moved in and got my entire deposit back. The owner was kind and personable.
These are pretty good apartments. Large spacious rooms, large closets. It is cozy, quiet and comfortable. Very nice and friendly women in the administration. Good area, within walking distance of the Mohawk River embankment, close to supermarkets, cafes, shops and entertainment.
Lived here for 3 years. 2 different buildings. Lived in a 2 bedroom then a 3 bedroom. Main doors dont lock. Intercom never works. MOLD in both apts closets, bathrooms, ceilings. Walls are paper thin. Black water Leaks from ceiling light in bathroom of top floot apt. Noise from rt 7 and bridge is loud. Windows are old and freeze in winter leaving frost inside and on the window sill. Everything outdated. No one fixes anything. They find any reason to keep most of security deposit. Owner lives out of state.
After renting here for nearly four years, they would not return the deposit, siting charges such as $300 for cleaning the windows and $200 for vacuuming the living room. If I knew they were going to charge that much to clean windows, I would have hired a cleaning service before moving out! The rodent problem here is unfathomable - mouse droppings in the laundry room, in the kitchen, etc., and the front door to the apartment does not lock. The intercom does not work as well. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Only moderately well maintained. Upkeep of buildings is largely surface. It looks nice but things don't function well. Appliances and laundry facilities are repaired and patched up when they need to be replaced. A few staff have stayed on and on. The turnover amongst others is very great. There are many apartments in the area that are nicer and a better value. Building common areas are dark and in need of upkeep. Grounds are poorly lit at night. Look elseware!
We were loooking for a safe place to to live with great schools. So my husband came across Mohawk Terrace. When he came for the first time to see the apartments the lady was very helpful and honest. She showed him the actual apartment we would be renting. She even called to let us know about a move in special they had for the day we planned to move in. When we got the apartment everything was clean they vacuum the carpet and the walls were painted!! I am glad we found the Mohawk Terrace its a quiet and safe community!
We have lived in Mohawk Terrace for going on 6 years. The location is great, right in between route 9 and the northway. We are south enough that we are not in the craziness that is Clifton Park but close enough when we have to go into town. The maintenance guys are friendly, reliable and I feel that I can trust them in my apartment if I cannot be there when I need something fixed. The laundry is right in our building so no need to take clothes outside. All around very happy with these apartments.
