Established in the mid-1800s as a mining town during the Gold Rush, Denver embraces its Western heritage along with a forward-thinking mindset. Larimer Square is a testament to Denver’s balance of old and new, boasting rows of creative restaurants, independent shops, and vibrant nightlife spots in Victorian-era buildings downtown.
Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Denver is renowned for its great outdoor adventures. Residents enjoy more than 5,000 acres of parks, trails, golf courses, and playgrounds as well as convenience to Red Rocks Park and Cherry Creek State Park. Denver is proximate to world-class skiing and snowboarding opportunities just outside the city too. City center skyrises provide incredible views of the mountains to the west, while spacious suburbs with single-family rentals make for the perfect place to set down roots.

Property Ratings at Monaco Lakes
Lived there for over a year. Only reason we left is because we were waiting for senior housing again due to the Littleton seniors fire. Our son lived there and was happy Before us and his boss/friend was so impressed visiting there he decided to move there and remains.

Sorry you had to leave, how can you pass up senior housing. If anything ever changes you always have a home at Monaco Lakes. Thanks, Susan Harding
They won’t fix amenities and will continue to raise your rent. They don’t care about their tenants, just the money you give them. Overpriced for awful living.
This property is ideally located & beautifully landscaped, with great residents & the best management I've encountered! Pet friendly & roomy apartments, with helpful maintenance & well kept amenities. An awesome place to call home
Update: Still living here and loving it!! I have my 2bdrm and if snafu's arise the office and maintainence are on top of it!! My fridge died and I had a new one within hours. Anthony, Susan and Keith in the office are always amazing and helpful!! Maintainence is the best. I have lived here since October, 2019 and love it. I love in Building A and have never had problems with bugs, maintenance, parking or the staff. Everyone is kind and helpful. I like it so much that I'm upgrading to a 2bdrm next week! Definitely recommend living here!
Beautiful Property. And that is why the transients have decided to take it over as their own. Unfortunately, management has no interest in securing the property against transients living around the property. Security is a joke and does not respond to calls of transients sleeping in the elevators, laundry rooms, courtyards and parking lots. Take a good look at South Leyden Street before you move in and decide if you want meth labs and dealers as neighbors, because you will be seeing them a lot and property management has no intention of helping the situation. Too bad. They have the power but choose not to do anything.
Don't waste your money living here. I recently moved to this location from out of state, site unseen. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!. This place looks nothing like the website so don't let that fool you. Let me give you a list of the problems, so far. 1) the remodeled unit is a cover up job with cheap materials. They try to use tan and brown colors to hide the roaches in the apartment. 2) they nickel and dime you for everything including property taxes....They will even try to charge you twice for utilities so you constantly have to watch your bill. I am still trying to figure out why am I paying for exterminating when my apartment seems to continuously have a roach problem. (coming through the walls and floor) 3) they're maintenance and customer service is terrible. They don't make contact as requested and they do a horrible repair job. 4) they will illegally tow your vehicle I am sure for a kick-back from the tow company. 5) The complex is constantly noisy (unattended dogs and children) and filthy.(discarded furniture and graffiti) 6) there is constantly trash everywhere in the the common areas. 7) costs too much for the non-value Positive notes.... none...
I have been living here for about a year and a half now, office is great, maintenance gets to my work orders done usually within 24 hours, grounds are always kept clean!!
Very greedy agency with poor customer service and a ton of unnecessary fees. The utilities bill is the same in January as it is in July for heat... Explain that. Apartment units are old and full of problems. When you move in you pay so much money and when you move out, they deduct the money you initially gave and charge you double or threaten to send you to collections. Always received my deposit and here I owed them money?

We value your opinion and I will be sure to address your concerns with our community team. Thanks again for your comments Susan Harding, Community Manager
Terrible management, unresponsive and then they blame you! All they care about is money and not the actual living situation of the tennants. 2-3 requests plus a phone call for high priority work requests such as heat and toilets. Would not recommend this complex to anyone, not even the bums that live in the elevators and laundry rooms.

I moved into my new apartment in April and I love it! Monaco Lakes has been very accommodating, the staff is great. The Colorado light rail station is within walking distance which makes it very convenient for my transportation downtown. On top of that, I love the courtyard because it feels like I'm walking my dog in a park. I would definitely recommend Monaco Lakes to my family and friends.
We have lived here for a year. Several times we have had family members mail us things that have not arrived - all with gift cards - and we ordered credit cards that also never got to us. Packages are delivered to the office, but you go and check and they say they aren't there. A piece of lawn furniture was stolen from our patio, and we were told the complex doesn't track crimes that happen unless a police report is made - which I wasn't going to do for a $50 chair. Kids are out of control. Parents let them run around and just leave their door open by way of supervision. People "hang" on the loading dock at all hours. Laundry facilities are there, but residents will sort laundry into all machines in the room, using every available unit and just let their stuff sit there. Speed bumps in parking lot are insane. The staff is very nice, if not always able to help. Use this place as a last resort.
unless you like roaches, mice, and maintenance that can't fix something without breaking something else don't live here. waaay too much money for this terrible apartment. haven't been able to use my bathroom sink in over a year because they can't fix it properly.
Love my apartment, its going on 3 years. Grounds, staff, amenities, amazing!!!
The staff is wonderful and the property is beautiful. The neighbors are nice, but can be a little noisy sometimes.
I have a one Bedroom apartment here at Monaco Lakes. My bedroom has 2 closets, a walk in and a wall to wall closet I'm able to fit a Queen size bed a love seat couch and my dresser. Our Court Yard is kept clean and manicured. We have a small Lake with a fountain and a Family of Ducks that also reside here. The staff here at Monaco Lakes are very nice and go out of their way to help us. Even though we are close to 2 busy streets it's very quiet here. I really enjoy living here. Thank you Pamela M, Denver Co.
I am in love with my apartment, with the whole complex. Its a great area and it is close to downtown and shopping centers. The Wal-Mart is right behind the apartment complex which makes it super convenient! The grounds in my apartment complex is beautiful and very well maintained! It is a park-like community and every one here is very friendly! My apartment was given to me clean, and with no damages which I love! Maintenance does their job and gets to work orders within 24 hours! I have had zero issues living here! Once again I absolutely love it:)!!!!
not anything like apartments.com made it seem unfortunately. Been missing things that they said would be fixed when I moved in. The grounds are sloppy and basketball hoops are not useable. Over priced rent for amenities and location. I would not recommend to anyone. I will however continue to use apartments.com because it is the fault of the staff for the failure to upkeep this complex.
The staff is pretty apathetic and don't put effort into helping you. It's insane that they require cats to be declawed and you still have to pay a substantial deposit and pet rent. The power goes off at least once a month. There are geese that show up in the spring and summer that poo everywhere.
I'm not one to write terrible reviews, but I want to save other people the trouble of living here if they can avoid it. I've lived here for two years. The people who live here are fine: a lot of working class folks, students, seniors etc. It's a decent location. I've lived in a lot of lower income apartment complexes. I don't expect perfection and don't require anything fancy. These are old buildings from the 70s or so, and it doesn't seem like management particularly cares about upkeep beyond the stuff potential renters will see. Specifically, when I moved in, my new apartment was not clean, everything was sloppily painted over, and a few lights were broken. There are cracks in the ceiling, extremely dirty baseboard heaters, water damage...and it appears they painted over mold. I can tell they painted over the entire bathtub and shower with unsuitable paint because it peels off when I try to clean, revealing the original color. Sometimes my water goes out without notice and then runs gray or rust-colored. I've measured the apartment because it seems smaller than was advertised, and it is significantly different. When I've asked for repairs, the responsiveness really varies even with timely matters. One time I called the 24/7 emergency maintenance line for something urgent and the voicemail was full, I had to fix it myself (why's the rent keep increasing if they barely maintain anything!?). We had a pest issue (big surprise at this place) and pest control is worse than Comcast. The office staff is basically incompetent, except for maybe one or two people. They act like they're doing you a favor by speaking to you. More than once they've given extremely conflicting information or forgot to do something important. I get the feeling they'll nickel-and-dime my deposit. I once lived in an apartment complex where people were shot, no joke. It was nicer and had better customer service. I think they keep changing the name here so people won't find bad reviews.
I lived at Monaco Lakes for two years and departed July 2013 for business outside of CO. A new owner/mngmt took over in early 2013. Because of their politeness, updates to the complex grounds, new laundry rooms, and remodeled apt's, I returned in six months to rent a remodeled apartment with all new appliances bath and kitchen. Repair requests and issues are handled quickly and with courtesy, and the office staff always has a smile on greeting tenants. More mature, professionals have been attracted to rent here. The location to DTC, Cherry Creek and dowtown are a big plus. I'm very happy here.
