Located directly across the bay from San Francisco, Downtown Oakland extends from 12th Street north to Grand Avenue. It includes Lincoln University, several bank headquarters, a variety of restaurants, shops, and theaters. The historic Fox Theater and the art deco Paramount Theatre both offer live performances. Sports fans head to the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum to cheer on the NFL's Oakland Raiders and to the Oracle Arena to cheer the NBA's Golden State Warriors.
Oakland's "main street" is Broadway, which extends from 8th Street to 17th Street. The neighborhood's history dates back to the 1850s, and the downtown area is home to some of the nation's finest Art Deco architecture. Some places to visit include the Pardee Home (built in1868), the Rotunda Building, and the African American Museum and Library.

Property Ratings at Monogram Apartments
Living at the Monogram apartment homes has been great these past two years. My apartment at Monogram is a unique blend of spaciousness, modern finishes, and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. It’s not just a place to live, but a sanctuary to retreat to after a long day. The large windows flood the space with natural light, and my balcony offers a 360 view of the city. The amenities here are amazing. Since it is attached to the Kissel Hotel, we share with the hotel a modern and fully functional gym, as well as valet parking, the hotel bar, and club access. While there is no pool, the Y is across the street, and they have a pool. I also appreciate the secure and clean environment, with weekly cleaning of the common areas and monthly hallway carpet cleaning, which makes everything look pristine. The location of Monogram Apartments is not just convenient, it's a gateway to a vibrant lifestyle. With shopping, dining, and public transportation just a stone's throw away, it's the perfect balance between work and leisure. The management team is helpful, and the maintenance team responds timely to work orders. Living at Monogram Apartments has been a pleasurable experience, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new home.
Property Manager at Monogram Apartments, Responded To This Review
It's awesome to hear you love your home! Thanks for this great review of the community, amenities, and our team's customer service. We'll be sure to share your five-star feedback with our team!
I've recently moved in and have had a host of issues. The building itself is nice mainly because it's brand new, but that also leaves a lot to be desired. There's still lots of the building that feels unfinished or uncleaned. One example is the bike room, where some of the walls look to be made out of plywood. With having my bike stolen recently from another bike locker room which was 100% more secure than this one, I would not be leaving my bike there. The move-in wasn't the greatest either. It seemed as if the management was short staffed and the on-boarding process was disorganized. The set of keys I received did not work and it's been three days and have it yet to be resolved. We've been having to share 1 set of keys between two people which has be extremely frustrating while moving in. The biggest issue right now is that I emailed about an extremely urgent matter regarding potential Black Mold, which is a HUGE deal. I have yet to hear back after 12 hours. I called the office and was told by whoever answered the phone that they will take a message and relay it to the Property Manger. That was an hour ago. Additionally, they stated that they only have 1 maintenance staff member today and told me that they might not be able to get to us today. Yes, they said that they might not be able to address the BLACK MOLD right away... Will update this review if they ever get someone to come by and fix everything. Update 5/2022: Called back to the office and got the property manager. Supposedly my message was delivered, but I guess black mold is not considered an emergency. I was told that it was my fault for sending an email outside of business hours, but at least a courtesy reply would have been nice so I knew my issue was being worked on. Also, the resident portal wasn't updated with my information so I couldn't submit and track a ticket there. As a new resident this is not encouraging. I understand that they are severely understaffed, but I really hope that their Community Director sees this review and provides they with more help.
Property Manager at Monogram Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello Christopher, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you have not been satisfied with your experience at Monogram Apartments. Our maintenance team inspected your apartment the same business day that your concern was communicated and a work order was submitted. At that time you were informed that the substance in your apartment was dust and not black mold. The team cleaned the area and advised you that they were going to replace the central system air filters. The team also responded to your email indicating that one of your sets of keys was not working the next business day as the email was sent at 1am. Your key was reprogramed at this time. We do recognize that they property is currently understaffed and are actively working to hire quality associates who can make you proud to call Monogram home. Please reach out to us at (510) 983-8214 with any additional questions or concerns. We're here to help! -Gallery 459 Management Team
