Property Ratings at Montecito West
These apartments are very run down - even when choosing an "updated" unit. Prepare for an expensive utility bill if you choose to live here due to the drafts from the doors and windows. The staff "loses" packages and tows their renters' vehicles. They must make a commission on the number of vehicles towed. Horrible choice and expensive for what you actually get.
The complex began doing a lot of improvements to the grounds. The improvements we desperately need (better drainage) have been forgotten it seems for cosmetic updates (new fences, patio resurfacing patios). I have to jump a giant mud puddle that is growing grass to enter my place through the back door. The front door is completely obscured by overgrown hedges, even solicitors won't leave notices on our door. We used to have lovely storm doors! I could open my front door to the storm door and let in beautiful sunshine and have a great view of my hedges... but they took the door away. Now my living room with it's two foot wide windows is a cave. Why don't I get any light from my tiny windows? Because there are over grown hedges in front of those too! These hedges are the only sense of security and privacy I have against a growing number of vagrant and homeless individuals that like to sit on the stairs leading from the road to the sidewalk in front of my building. I do however want my storm door back. I even called the local Drucker&Falk office to speak about it. I was told they'd "take it under advisement". Spoiler alert: they didn't. I've had two sets of neighbors to my one side. Both have left garbage on their porch constantly, the first set even dried their children's underwear on the porch. The landscaping seem to delight in blowing the garbage from the neighbors into my porch with their leaf blowers. Our mail man is delivers mail that doesn't belong to us while making important mail like drivers licenses and replacement credit cards mysteriously disappear. If you complain to the USPS they won't respond. Mail everything to your office or get a PO box. The maintenance staff when I first moved here was great. They somehow managed to make it enjoyable to have an ancient heating and AC unit held together by duct tape and hope. They were prompt and cleaned up after themselves. Since then we've had a steady stream of new faces and they seem to just get worse. The latest ones leave messes when they fix anything, which is almost the only sign you'll get that something has been done. Just make sure to lock up your pets if you make a request, they leave the door open to your place while working. The only thing about this complex that I can count on is the office staff. They are kind and understanding, the only saving grace for this dumpster fire. At least my car has only been keyed once and my apartment is no longer infested with shrews.
I love where I live. It's walking distance from all the major shops I do my weekly shopping at and it's nice and quiet.
I m currently living in this apartment call montecitowest and so far I like that way they respond to a call But I don't like is the they are raising the rent price every year and I think they should have rent control for a period of time
