Folks around the Bay Area most likely know Santa Clara as the location of Levi’s Stadium, home field for the San Francisco 49ers and host venue for college bowl games and various concerts. While the stadium has certainly redefined the city’s public image, the community retains a diverse palette of cultural offerings.
Like much of Silicon Valley, the tech sector is heavily represented in Santa Clara, and serves as one of the most prominent industries in town. The Triton and DeSaissit Museums bring unique art exhibits to the city, while attractions like California’s Great America and Central Park provide excellent opportunities for family-friendly outdoor fun. With San Jose right next door, the options for shopping, dining, and entertainment become nearly endless.

Property Ratings at Monticello Apartment Homes
AVOID AVOID AVOID! Read all of the reviews before you sign the lease. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I’ve lived in bay area for many years at different communities, but nothing comes close to the top-tier level of incompetence and disregard shown by the management here—easily the worst you’ll find in the Bay Area. Save yourself the headache – and your belongings – and look elsewhere. Living here has been a nightmare from day one. We trusted the so-called “secured” bike room to protect our $4,000 bikes. Big mistake. They were stolen, and management couldn't care less. For a facility that touts security, this place does a terrible job at actually being secure. The cherry on top is the incredibly rude management—specifically, the MANAGER. They’ll be friendly when it’s time to sign lease, but don’t expect anything beyond that. They are extremely rude to residents.Otherwise, they treat residents like nuisances(All the negative reviews about the management are true, please please do read them) . If you do get any attention from them, it’s to hassle you with constant interference in your private property – and the rules are never enforced consistently. They have zero respect for tenants’ personal space or privacy. You’d think following the rules would protect you, but no. Even with all the necessary permits in place and parked in the correct spot, your car gets towed multiple times. We’ve wasted so much time and money dealing with towing companies because of the management’s neglect and they don't even care. Please AVOID this community by all means

Our goal is to provide an exceptional living experience for all of our residents, and we are disappointed to hear we fell short of your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and help us improve. Best, The Monticello Team
so disgusting! my new car is towed away in my own parking slot and i paid $395 for this, just because the plate number is my temp plate when i bought the car and move into the apartment. The parking slot number is right and the valid date is right, and you said it is not my car? You disppointed me so much!!!!!!Never ever live here!!!
The worse Residence Service ever. Nobody was available yesterday to help me with a mouse at my unit, and literally the manager said "catch the mouse is a favor, I am sorry for you". I created a pest control service request as oriented and SO FAR nobody showed up. At this place, expect a lot of rules and none rights. Too pricing for what is offered.

We are sorry to hear your experience has been frustrating, Marcela. Our community offers complimentary pest control service for all residents upon request and we are glad that you have brought this to our attention. We appreciate your patience while we follow our procedures to address this matter and remain available to assist you. Best, The Monticello Team
I'm absolutely disappointed with the management at Monticello II Apartment Homes. Despite having a valid parking reservation, my car was wrongfully towed just two days after my lease began. The excuse was the absence of a permit sticker, but the leasing office utterly failed to communicate this requirement or provide adequate notice. While I was away on a business trip, my car was towed, and I only found out upon my return. I was forced to pay exorbitant fees to retrieve my vehicle. The leasing office's irresponsibility and sheer arrogance are astounding. They intentionally gave the towing company 24/7 access to conduct predatory towing without notice, exploiting residents. This whole ordeal has caused me immense financial and emotional distress. The management at Monticello II is not only incompetent but also completely dismissive of their residents' rights and concerns. I strongly advise potential residents to avoid this place due to their blatant disregard for tenant welfare and utter lack of professionalism.

We are truly sorry to hear about any confusion regarding parking guidelines in our community. At Irvine Company Apartment Communities, our goal is to offer residents exceptional service – and we are disappointed whenever you feel we’ve fallen short. We apologize for any frustration you have encountered throughout your residency with us and we will continue to make every effort to address any concerns. Best, The Monticello Team
The place is new and the inside is nice but that is where the positives end. The fire alarm goes off regularly. At least once a month at some random time, that is usually early in the morning when you are sleeping, the fire alarm will go off for ~10 minutes then stop because there was no fire. When there actually is a fire no one will leave the building because of how many false alarms there are. Property management is pretty unhelpful/rude. I had a package go missing and their only response was that "it was some other company that handles the packages". Even though I know they have access to the package lockers since they opened it up for me previously. This was infuriating because the shipping tracker was marked as "signed for" which is what happens when the delivery person supposedly puts the package in the lockers. Even though I told property management that this was delivered they offered zero help other than to contact the shipper (who couldn't do anything because the package was "signed for"). I asked if they could check the locker again and they wouldn't. On top of that lost package, I had a package that was delivered but I couldn't get it for a few days. They sent it back to the shipper without even trying to contact me to see why I couldn't pick it up. Why do they think this is ok? Move out was just as horrible as the rest of my time there. Somehow I was on the hook for an expensive cleaning of my apartment even though I had cleaned everything myself before leaving and there were no damages. What is the point of a security deposit if they just come up with a fake reason to keep it when you leave? Bottom line, do not rent from here unless you want to regret your decision.
The leasing specialist has no integrity at all. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

We regret to hear that we achieved anything less than 5-stars. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention and helping us improve. Best, The Monticello team
SO many issues with this place. 1. NOISE: Incredibly loud apartment. Managers admitted to me after I moved in that there is no insulation between the floors. I can hear every single thing my upstair neighbors do. Also fire alarm going off ALL the time, even 3am at night. 2. Package delivery is a nightmare. There is so many apartments that I've had the post office deliver my mail to the wrong address at LEAST once a month. Amazon fresh or Uber Eats etc can't be delivered because they can't access the building. I've seen abandoned take out food and CSA boxes outside the gate nearly everyday. 3. Other small nuisances: I know they take your money for cleaning, which I don't understand because when I moved in the floors were filthy and the showers crusted with hard water buildup. The water here is not great. SUPER hard and tastes terrible no matter what filter you use. Also takes over 1 min for the shower to run hot water, which is so wasteful. Also Sewage and Trash is SUPER expensive here. When budgeting, add another 100 dollars to that monthly rent.

We truly regret any inconvenience you may be experiencing. We want all of our residents to have an exceptional living experience and take these issues seriously. If there is anything we can to help elevate your experience, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Resident Services Office directly. Best, The Monticello team
The actual apartments, as well as all the amenities and the location of Monticello are good. However, our experience with the leasing office and the move out procedures were awful. They have no qualms about giving drastic rent increases for current residents in their renewal offer, and then on top of that, you can kiss your security deposit goodbye. Residents are on the hook for the routine between-tenant professional cleanings of the apartment company (and I am not talking about apartment damage, that is a reasonable thing to be charged for), which makes even moving out of the complex involve a hefty cost. I would avoid Monticello in the future, as well as all other Irvine properties. They do not deal with you as individuals, just as dollar signs.

Once your final account statement has been completed, our team would be happy to review any charges with you based on the condition of the unit upon move-out. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our team with any questions you may have. Best, The Monticello team
I starrred a 16 month lease over a year ago after falling in love with this complex. We’d seen over 8 other complexes and couldn’t get this one out of our heads. The staff is so friendly, the amenities are incredible— we find ourselves at the saltwater pools almost every warm weekend of the summer (which was until the end of October last year!) There are incredible gardens throughout the complex which are lit at night. A multitude of grills are distributed throughout the garden areas. The one issue I have is with the dog area. We have two dogs and the only potty area is the turf in the fire lane outside the building, however dogs must be on leash which makes exercise hard for pups.
I did research of nine apartment complexes in the area and chose Monticello for many reasons. I am so glad I did. The staff is friendly and helpful, assisting me in every way possible. They know me by name! The building itself feels like a resort with open airways. Contemporary features. Personal reserved parking included is included in rent! Who doesn’t love their own parking spot? Restaurants onsite, in walking distance! A Starbucks opening soon, and our own Nob Hill grocery store opening in November! If you are a swimmer, you won’t find another complex that has TWO SALTWATER LAP pools! As an athlete, these was nearly essential for me. If you mind the noise, remember to choose a unit away from the pool. ;) Poolside grills are plentiful, numbering 5-6 or more. A must for commuters, just a five minute walk from CalTrain! Accessible to a main thoroughfare, Lawrence Expressway. Resident socials are so much fun and well-organized. It is fun to see so many people, so many cultures. What a great way to make friends! Finally, the clean workout room is amazing. Free classes: PiYo classes twice a week and circuit training once per week. Treadmills, machines available all the time! I am just thrilled. Many more amenities are available, and I couldn’t possibly name them all. I’m just thrilled to be here! Hope to consider you a neighbor soon!!
No cell phone connection on parking and bad connection inside buildings and outside within the apartment complex area. It is impossible to enter/exit your apartment while you’re on a phone call, you’ll be disconnected. Construction is every day from 7AM till 7PM! They promise to finish it every month… when I moved in I was told that they will have finished the construction by the beginning of June, in June they said they’re going to finish by the beginning of July, then they’ve send newsletters saying that they’ll finish the construction by the end of July. Now they are saying that it will be finished in the middle of September. Seriously? Wifi problem - very often your home wifi network will be out of service(electromagnetic radio interference) because of some equipment working on the construction side. I’m not sure this is safe… Water - the poorest quality I’ve ever seen. Your dishes will have white spots and it’s impossible to get rid of them. The same will be with your dark clothes - white spots… Washer - the worst I’ve ever had. It doesn’t wash but damaged my clothes. Who’ll pay for it???? Noise - you will always hear noise from everywhere - construction, tons of neighbors (because there are many apartments and buildings are very close to each other), building equipment (water heaters, electrical rooms, elevators, trash rooms etc), fire alarms (you will hear at least 2-3 times every day) car's noise, Caltrain’s noise, noise from the pool and BBQ areas, noise from children’s playground, etc. Good sleep is possible just with ear plugs, watching TV or listening the music is possible just with closed windows. Working from home - impossible, just forget about it. Parcel pending - is terrible service. All your deliveries will be only to this parcel room and you’ll have to carry heavy boxes to your home by yourself. NO Amazon fresh or food delivery, it impossible for them to enter the building. And FYI in addition to all of the noise, they are also sometimes doing fire alarm inspection starting at 8AM! Leasing office will lie you about construction time, noise, cell phone connection, etc. DO NOT trust them! Enjoy…
