Old Town sits across from Washington DC, along the Potomac River in Alexandria. Founded in 1749, the old charm of the neighborhood lives on in converted Colonial-era buildings which now house modern conveniences. Along Old Town’s cobblestone streets, you’ll discover an array of independent boutiques, artisan shops, wine bars, and farm-to-fork restaurants.
The farmers market in Market Square is your place for fresh cut flowers, hand-dipped candles, and made-from-scratch baked goods. The plaza is more than 250 years old - George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate was a regular vendor back in the day!
King Street is not only dotted with eateries and shops, but also nightlife and live jazz! The iconic Gadsby’s Tavern on North Royal Street fed many early presidents and continues to run as a restaurant - but also as a museum! King Street and Waterfront Parks provide residents recreational and boating opportunities along the river.

Property Ratings at Monticello-Lee
This place is a hidden gem, the location is fantastic, you can walk to restaurants, coffee shops and Bradley metro. The staff is fantastic Karime, Angelika and Jose are great people that work together to meet the residents needs, they have always make me feel I’m at home and that’s not something easy to find.

Thank you so much for sharing your living experience at Monticello Lee apartments, we truly appreciate your feedback and it brings us great joy to hear we make our residents happy.
Similarly to the other poor reviews, my apartment consistently has roaches and they’re HUGE. “Pest control” came but they didn’t do anything. There’s a roach that’s in my light fixture that’s attached to the ceiling… how does that even happen? Management clearly doesn’t care. All I know is I can’t keep living like this and I can’t wait for my lease to be up.

Thank you for taking the time and sharing your experience with us. We have policies and processes in place to address any pest concerns brought to our attention but we are always open to adjusting those to better serve and accommodate our residents. We'd be more than happy to discuss your experiences further; however, the name you use here does not match with our resident's records. Please contact our leasing office directly when you have an opportunity. Thank you.
Terrible apartments with unprofessional staff. Place has no parking. Literally none. Parking is like a lottery system where they've given out far more spots then they actually have and if you can't find a spot you risk getting a ticket from the city of Alexandria. Cockroaches. Lots and lots of cockroaches. Doesn't matter how clean you keep your unit your either going to have a lot of them or a little. They bring in exterminators once a year but it doesn't really make much of a difference. So now your thinking "well the advertised rental rate is really cheap". No it is not. They will massively increase your rent every single year. They will lie to you, either to your face or in writing if you complain promising not to increase it "next year" then doing just that. After 6 years in a studio I now pay what I could be living in a new building single bedroom for and finally have my move out date. Avoid at all costs. Seriously just pay a little more to deal with an honest company and a place you won't have to deal with dishonest property managers. Oh and laundry is almost $5 to run a load and there's 2 washers and 2 dryers shared between an entire building for most of the buildings.

Hello Stephen, We are sorry to receive this negative review but we'd appreciate the opportunity to discuss any concerns or negative experiences you may have had, however, we never receive a pest control complain from your unit and we don't have register that you had a car while living here. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at any time.
If you want to deal with constant roaches and unpleasant smells in your apartment then this place is for you. Management never really did much about it when we would addressed these concerns to them. Then 7 months after moving out having a debt collector hound us for fees that we were never knew that we owed - no letter/bill. Renter beware.
Monticello Lee is a beautiful property and the management team is amazing. Maintenance is very fast and I’ve enjoyed this property

We are happy to hear that our team provided you with excellent service. Thank you for sharing your positive experience Monticello Lee Apartments.
Monticello Lee Apartments has the perfect location just 3 blocks from the waterfront, walk distance to restaurants, bars etc. The Management team is amazing and really helpful with your needs.
Wonderful location in old town Alexandria and I had a few good years here, but in the last year I had some problems. I had a really bad roach infestation that lasted like 6 months (despite multiple visits by pest control). The new management team is also just ok, they were often a bit condescending and rude in interactions. Maintenance is great, though.
Not only is the location amazing, but the staff is too. Jesse in the office is just fantastic and the whole application, moving in process was so easy. They're honest and upfront, show you multiple buildings and the best part: NO ANNOYING FEES, no parking fee and no move-in fee. Absolutely perfect sized bedrooms (WAY bigger than some in the area that charge more), huge closets, and the surrounding streets have great places to eat, shop, etc. Plus the neighborhood is calm, safe and filled with adorable dogs being walked. The building is always very quiet and they even decorated the front for Halloween - love it. As someone who spent a lot of time looking for reasonable rent in a spot that still made me feel safe - I thought it would be impossible till this place!
Good in general. Recently I saw a roach in the hallway..Street noise could be issue if you choose to live in a unit facing South Washington street (6 car lane traffice) I mostly struggle with dynamic pricing.( probably like other rental places) 3 weeks after I moved in, the rent per month went down about $100 per month for similar studios. When I toured the place, the management offered a lower price. After 2 months, when I needed to sign a contract, the management upped the rent for lease. I was told it was the standard pricing.
Decent sized one bedroom apartment. Reasonable rent. Great location.
I absolutely adore my corner unit apartment with a walk-in closet and very decently sized dining room. However, dogs are not allowed and the nicely maintained courtyard could use a pool. I would not move because of these wishes but it is worth mentioning.
Apartments are clean and nice. New paint and appliances. Hardwood floors throughout. They were built in the 40s, so they are relatively old. Thus, thin walls and loud hardwood floors make the apapartments noisy. That said, great community and location. AT3 and 10A, B, & R bus goes to Braddock road metro. And, old town king street is 12 minutes away walking.
I have been living in a ground level studio here for a little over a year now. The rent is very affordable, especially for the area (2 grocery stores and a CVS within 1-3 blocks, not to mention all the great places around Old Town) and how nice the apartments are. New appliances, new countertops, new bathrooms-all well lit and fantastic. The walls and doors are very thick, so very little sound carries from neighbors-I have never once heard noise coming through the walls. My apartment also doesn't get cold or hot with the weather, but stays the same temperature. The management is also great. The office has a couple people there at a time Monday-Saturday. They are helpful and pretty nice. I once forgot to leave a note for UPS so I called the office and someone personally walked across the street to leave a post-it on my mailbox. I also had a small leak in my ceiling over a weekend, and when I called about it they sent someone to fix it Monday morning, and it was like new. I've loved living here, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone. I have some family moving out here soon and this will be my first suggestion.
