On the west side of Baltimore, extending along the Patapsco River and with Patapsco Valley State Park extending along its west side, Catonsville provides a picturesque setting just minutes from the city. Catonsville is a college town, home to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and the Community College of Baltimore County. Frederick Road serves as Catonsville's main street, lined with historic architecture and containing a variety of shops, art galleries, restaurants, and other businesses.
Catonsville is home to several great destinations and landmarks. Hilton, built in 1825, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The mansion is located on what was known as "Taylor's Forest," first surveyed in 1678. Today, it is part of Patapsco Valley State Park, and the Hilton Area Hike Start is located off Hilltop Road. UMBC is home to the Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall, a performing arts venue.

Property Ratings at Montrose Manor
Location is perfect and ideal for walking anywhere. Parking is terrible if you have more than one car. Bedrooms are huge which is great. You do have access to a storage unit which helps alot. Kitchens are small and so are the bathrooms. Staff is always friendly especially mrs pat. Walls are kinda thin but not too thin. My building I live in is very great and quite. No bug problems. Ac is very loud since the return vent is right in the living room.
Property Manager at Montrose Manor, Responded To This Review
Thank you for choosing Montrose Manor Apartments, and for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that you appreciate our location and the size of our bedrooms. I will pass on your kind words about our team. and want you to know we're here for you should you ever want to discuss your experience further. Thank you again for choosing Montrose Manor, and we hope you enjoy your stay with us.
The management staff is awful and not helpful at all. Everything is misleading and you should not move in unless you know everyone in the building, because management will not address any issues in the building (loud neighbors, neighbors smoking weed with impunity even though it comes through the vents of other apartments, scammers coming to your door multiple times a week, etc.). They shut off the water at least once a month with little warning. The air vents are so loud and they pump out dust like they haven't been cleaned in years. There is a huge bug issue during the summer and fall (we had to pick at least five bugs off the wall every day for months because they kept coming in through the vents). I could go on and on. This place is beyond over priced and is not worth half of what it costs. Do your research. I wish I had done mine.
My husband and I have lived at Montrose Manor for 5 months and love it here. The property is well maintained and the one maintenance request we made was addressed immediately to our satisfaction. The apartment management/ maintenance staff are the best - friendly, happy people who seem to know the residents as individuals. We chose to rent at Montrose Manor partly because it is pet friendly. It is great fun to know all the puppies in the neighborhood by name! We feel like we are getting a lot for our rent: great square footage, updated appliances, beautiful wooded surroundings, and a swimming pool. We have absolutely no issues with these apartments and the management and recommend Montrose Manor highly as a place to live.
Not the best apartments. Management does not communicate anything going on and when they do they come off abrasive and rude. They sprayed green fertilizer everywhere without telling residents about it so your dogs can’t even go on it. (Thankfully we were warned by a neighbor how toxic that stuff can be for dogs.) They do not fix anything in your apartment and instead do poor patch jobs. The amount they charge to live here is astounding given the lack of quality you receive now. It used to not be this bad, but recent changes in property management has seemed to make things worse. If it wasn’t for the great location and quality of area we would have left after our second year here. Please start fixing our apartments and stop with these patch jobs or leaving unfinished work. We have a huge hole outside of apartment that leads to the outside and a hole in our ceiling that never got fixed. Also, we continue to have mice even though we have asked for them to send in an exterminator and they never do. Parking here is the worst. No visitor spots up top so if anyone comes to visit you they must park at the bottom of a steep hill then hike up to your apartment.
Worst place to rent. Worst management and maintenance staff. Old building and needs a lot of repairs. Too expensive for a very old smelly apartment.
I love this community and it's a fabulous place to live if you live alone and don't have visitors. Everything is beautiful and quiet, staff is friendly enough, and it's in an amazing location. However, parking is completely unmanageable. There aren't enough visitor spots and those that do exist are both quickly taken and not conveniently located to most of the apartments. When the visitor spots are taken, most people leave their cars there for months for fear of losing that spot. Parking in neighboring establishments gets you a not-too-pleased note on your car and a threat that next time your car will be towed. There are literally no other options unless you park on the street in the neighborhood across Frederick Ave and walk back. Again, I love this apartment, but if you live with someone else or have anyone who ever wants to visit you, it is best to reconsider.
