Bordered by Duke Forest on its western and southern side, American Village residents are able to enjoy the forest's walking trails and wildlife just steps from their homes. American Village is adjacent to Duke University and Duke University Hospital, making this a great choice for students, professors, and staff of the university. With its established homes along tree-lined, hilly streets, American Village is also a great option for commuters into Downtown Durham, just four miles southeast; to Research Triangle Park, just 20 minutes away; and to Chapel Hill, also roughly 20 minutes away.
American Village Park sits on the west side of the neighborhood. This four-acre, neighborhood park is ideal for afternoon picnics. It also offers a playground and a walking path.

Property Ratings at Morreene Manor Apartments
New management took over a few months ago. started towing residents' vehicles. inspected apartments, kicked people out, and lied about why. no updated amenities. The laundry room stinks, and half the machines don't work. no washer dryer hookups in apartments, no dishwasher, no playground, and no pool. literally nothing but an apartment and they surprised everyone by raising the rent by $200 while not upgrading anything. roaches and bugs in apartments, and they will blame the tenant. horrible plumbing. incompetent maintenance. the manager's father is the maintenance man and will get in your business when you come to speak to the office. falling apart. they need to go ahead and sell the land and build up the expensive apartments which I'm sure is only a matter of time until they do. 10/10 do not recommend it, which is unfortunate because prior to this new management taking over, it was a decent place to live, and management and maintenance were very thorough.
I have a 2 bedroom 2 full bathroom apartment with a back door leading to a small porch. Its a little outdated but it's extremely affordable, I only pay electric because water, sewage and trash pick up are included in the rent. The complex is safe and the grounds are very well kept. There's a little picnic area with a gazebo and Management is also very helpful, any repairs that I need are always done in a timely manner. My complex is small which I like, there are only 9 buildings total and it's conveniently located to shopping, the highway and my job yet it's quiet because it's located off the road in a predominately residential neighborhood. It's the perfect place for me and my family.
