Property Ratings at Motif
So many things I can say about this apartment complex. I moved during rent inflation and now paying a couple hundred dollara more in rent it’s ridiculous. For the price I am paying I could get a luxury apartment. Nothing here is absolutely great. Its functional but that is all I can say. Old property with “new” amenities. Such a let down. Gates are never closed and if they ever did close then I honestly wouldnt even know how to get in. Only one pool with a hotub . The knob is broken so you cant even get the jets and it’s literally the temperature of the pool. Its colder than luke warm which is sad. Basketball court had no net for the longest like they cant spend $10 for a new net seriously. People are loud. says no smoking at complex but you are constantly spelling a realing stench of tobacco and marijuana. Also THIS COMPLEX IS SO QUICK TO TOW YOU CAR when there is literally NO PARKING. Its sad if you have more than one car. I literally order food all the time because if you leave your spot after 7pm the chances of there being a spot none. One time I went out with my girlfriends and was driving around for a spot for an hr before I gave up. You cant park in the near park because it closes at 10. You shouldnt have to park on the other side of the complex at 7am on a sunday because thats the only spot after 30 minutes of driving around. Im telling you when this lease is up this complex seems like they are going to try and milk you for every $$$ they can get. Pay for better quality please

Hello, thank you for taking the time to post. My name is Denise and I am the Community Director at Motif. I tried looking you up in the system but could not locate as a resident so I am unable to reach out to you directly. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email via your resident portal. We are here to help and there are a few items you mention we would like to speak with you about in further detail.
This place isn’t worth it. There is no parking, when I say NO parking, you have to park in a spot and let your guest use your uncovered spot. Lost my parking pass and wanted to charge me an additional $25. Had issues with roaches, the walls are thin. Not to mention “gates” have been installed but it’s been roughly a year since they were in use. Popcorn ceilings like were in the 80’s with the nice plastic faux wood floors. Customer service has been a hit or miss here. Wouldn’t let me put my lease when I had a roach infestation but let me transfer units just because I had to call corporate and complain. The carpet is horrible/cheap it gets dirty very fast. Roof was leaking from monsoon season I had to call multiple times to have them come repair, and redo my 1980 popcorn ceiling which was not painted back. I was month to month, wanted to stay for another year not going to happen, this place has been the worst living experience living in Phoenix. To multiple strangers knocking on my door, to being accused of playing music when there I have sound system. They don’t do any tenant retention. I’ve seen homeless people dumpster diving to dead birds being on the grounds for a week, and over filled trash. Just not well kept. This place deserves 0 stars.

Thank you for your review! We will make sure to share your kind words with Anthony! Christina and the Motif Team
I have lived here for a few years now, and have became so comfortable living here. Overall, the apartments have improved so much over the last coupler years since they became a part of Weidner. One of the reasons why I’ve became so comfortable is that maintenance is amazing!. I recently met Anthony, who is one of the maintenance guys and he was so professional and polite. He kept me informed of what was happening at all times as he went in and out the apartment. Honestly the whole team is awesome. Thank you for all you do!!!

I’ve been here two years and I can’t wait to move. The walls are very thin, I can hear my neighbors iPhone ringer go off. They blast music every morning, the office does nothing. Haven’t seen any roaches, but I have seen ants. They go up on the rent every year and there is very limited parking. No parks for my son to play at and the women in the office can be a lot more polite. This place is way too overpriced.

Hello, I'd like to be able to address these matters for you. Please give me a call so I can get more details about your neighbor related problem. We do not have a park but we do a lot of resident events that are children-friendly and over the summer we are going to do a kids-club in the clubhouse. Keep an eye on your email for details. Thank you! Christina
I lived in one of the A4Premium models in the mid-1990s and it was and still is my favorite place I ever lived. The space was perfect. I only moved because they kept raising the rent beyond my means (not Motif - the company was different then), and they indicated that they were going to be going condo/purchased, which I could not do. I would move back there in a heartbeat if I ever moved back to Phoenix! The grounds are great, the facilities look to be as great as they used to be. Highly recommend this model! Jane
I saw these apartments while driving pass one day, I sent them a email advising what i was looking for and the time i was looking to move. I then received a email offering me to call to schedule to take a tour, From the first time she answered the phone, she provided outstanding service, I then came in and John assisted me gave me a tour and sat down and went over my numbers with me. I call back to confirm my Information about my move in date and to get additional Info. Jessica took the call and made the best experience ever. She just didn't want to put me in anything she knew what me and john had discussed and took it from there. I called around and spoke with a lot of different properties here in Phoenix, and out of all the ones I spoke with and contacted Motif was the best!!! Thank you John, Jessica, Property Manager for having outstanding service and outstanding people. Sincerely, Brooklyn
They have a security guard walk around at night so that's nice. The apartments look decent (I have a fully renovated 1 bedroom), but there's a bug problem in at least some of the units. Pest control is included in your apartment fees (around $2 a month I think) and they'll come every Wednesday if you ask them to. Also, parking is very limited. You get 1 covered spot per units, there are very few uncovered spots, and the spots are pretty tight. I've never had a noise problem or anything. Every once in a while you'll see cops, but it's not a daily occurrence, at least in my part of the complex. Maintenance is great, super easy to put in requests and they've always been completed pretty quickly. My air has gone out a couple times, but they've always fixed it within a day of putting the request in, and the other requests were typically within a few days. They don't do many inspections, I had one a month or two after moving in, and haven't had one since (I'm at month 8). Overall, my main issue is the bugs. You're able to control it to an extent, but even in a spotless apartment I see a few here and there. It's not bad enough to where I'm rushing to move out, but it's still an issue for me.
Such a great place to live! I love Rudy in the office. Every time I need to call and ask a question, he listens, understands, and doesn't blow me off. The new management has done alot of renovations, and they're doing a good job. I LOVE the communication we have now. If there is anything going on or is important, they send out an email. That makes it great so I can make other arrangements if need be. We've lived here 9 years so far and don't plan on moving anytime soon. We are both disabled and can still get around the property just fine. I have a handicapped space available to me right in front of our apartment. The new management has cleared alot of the riff raff around here and we also have a great security company all night. It makes us ALL feel safer. The staff helps us retain our packages, send any faxes, and are friendly. They deserve alot of credit because this complex is 700 units, which is alot to handle when the whole staff started here all as new employees. Great Maintenance too. All work is done within 1-2 days, and emergency maintenance 24/7. There's also an answering service at all times. Assigned covered parking is nice too. The thing I like the best is being able to see my rent, utility bill AND pay online! I also have the best neighbors ever. I would recommend this to a friend. I have many times before.
I moved in 2 plus years ago. When I moved in my apartment was considered a 1 bedroom plus den. So mostly singles or couples would live in this size apartment legally the max is 3 people . Somewhere along the line without notification they now call these 2 Bedrooms now the max is 5. I now have a lot of children in my building that run around totally unsupervised. I live on the bottom floor and the noise from my neighbors above is unbearable. There floors squeak and crack. You can hear the kids runny and jumping, the adults walking back and forth for hours on end from the time they wake up to the time they go to bed. ceilings so thin I can hear them using the restroom. I hear the neighbors next to me yelling and cussing at there small children through my bathroom wall. Sadly I signed a new lease because I could not afford to move. Complaining to the office staff is pointless, they say quiet time is after 10:00 pm so if I have problems before that call the police. Why do we call them management when they refuse to manage.?
We moved into a three bedroom apartment about 8 months ago. (moving out in august, 2016) Cons: Domestic Violence in the apartment below us. In the same apartment, they chain smoked, and sadly the smoke came up through the vents to our apartment, so everything we own now smells like smoke. (Since then, they have moved out, yay! But everything still smells like smoke). When we first moved in, our apartment was not cleaned really at all; the bathroom was the most sick, which we promptly deep cleaned. Also, the walls are very thin, you can hear just about every little bump and noise your neighbors make. A common annoyance is that car alarms go off fairly frequently in our part of the complex, like even as we write this review, there is a car alarm going off. Some other problems the apartment has are that the sliding closet and laundry room door do not like to stay on their tracks, kinda cheap and old. Also, if you don't like popcorn walls and low ceilings, this place may not be for you. Lastly, the internet goes out during busy hours of use. Pros: The space is ample for what you pay. Came with all of the daily appliances excluding washer dryer, though you can rent them from the complex (and had hook ups which we used). Our neighbors are nice, which isn't surprising considering we live in a family building (all three bedrooms). We have a good amount of storage space and a balcony which is a nice plus. closets are large, and fit our needs. Another plus is that there are a TON of outlets and they all work great. There are at least more than a dozen outlets in our three bedroom. A new installment is a 24 hour security team (very friendly and talkative dudes) and 24 hour maintenance crew. Lastly, the internet works great when no one else is using it. P.S. The new owners (Motif Apartments) are doing a far better job than the last owners and have been very accommodating. Hopefully the trend continues!
Within the last two weeks, MANY cop SUVs, crime scene tape, cops taking photos. When I call the office, they know nothing. That is how management takes care of their tenants. I do not feel safe. I am outta here!
This is the worst apartment complex. Check my Yelp review to find out what happened. -Bailey
These apartments are a good size for the amount of money you pay. My car and many others had their entire cars keyed, tires slashed, and windows busted out. This happened again a second time just a few weeks after the first incident. The police were called both times and reports were made, but of course all of the tenants were left to pay their deductibles since no one was ever caught. The police mentioned this was a common occurence at this complex. Also, the water pressure seemed to be a little low and I would have to flush 2 times to get everything down when there was nothing but tp in there. Other than the vandalism, it was worth the money and is very close to everything. Putting in a gate would definitely help with keeping random people from cutting through the complex so much. The office staff was always friendly and very flexible.
I've lived here for 10 months (lease is almost over) & I've noticed some really good positives but bad negatives. 1. I live in a two bedroom/bath (not updated) when I signed my lease I thought I was getting an updated apartment, was mislead by girl in office. Though the space was perfect for the price! Almost 1000 sq feet & I paid $592 tax 2. Closets are big! 3. Kind of small balcony, but almost 75% of apartments have one. 4. Maintenance is extremely slow, requests can take weeks before they're answered. 5. Women that work in the office can be really rude. 6. No playground 7. Super small gym 8. Has a beautiful club house/office 9. Movie center where you can rent/borrow a variety of DVDs ...plus your accasianal homeless person walking around digging through dumpsters
Quiet complex, the office managers are great and take care of things that need to be fixed. I'm a very satisfied resident.
The size of the apartments are decent, and for the non updated apartments the price is good. The upkeep not so much. Leaks, bed bugs, broken subfloor, kids smoking pot.... These are some of the down sizes. Depending on who you talk to in the office depends on who you talk to. I've seen worse places, but better too
Villas at Cave Creek is an excellent complex ran by knowledgeable and friendly staff. They are attentive to any needs that the residents have and are kind to their residents in the process. The outside of the complex could use some cosmetic work, however the insides of the homes have excellent appliances and everything is kept in great condition. I used to live in a complex where problems were not taken care of, the outside of the complex was nice but the homes themselves were very run down, and it has been a refreshing change to live somewhere that is taken care of by such an excellent community of professionals.
