On the west side of Baltimore, extending along the Patapsco River and with Patapsco Valley State Park extending along its west side, Catonsville provides a picturesque setting just minutes from the city. Catonsville is a college town, home to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and the Community College of Baltimore County. Frederick Road serves as Catonsville's main street, lined with historic architecture and containing a variety of shops, art galleries, restaurants, and other businesses.
Catonsville is home to several great destinations and landmarks. Hilton, built in 1825, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The mansion is located on what was known as "Taylor's Forest," first surveyed in 1678. Today, it is part of Patapsco Valley State Park, and the Hilton Area Hike Start is located off Hilltop Road. UMBC is home to the Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall, a performing arts venue.

Property Ratings at Mount Ridge Apartments
This place is filthy, and truly rat infested!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can request maintenance, and pest control until you are blue in the face, they do not help with the issues. If you're smart, you will stay clear of this complex!!!! 1-star is not a low enough of a rating!!
This was my first time ever renting an apartment and I had done it sight unseen. That lead to a few issues, especially with dirty ac units that really made my asthma worse for the time I was there. Overall, if you really needed a place to stay I'm guessing the renovated units are nice, but the non renovated ones I found being constantly cold even when the heat was at 74+. We had problems with insects, and while I will say that maintience was quick to work on things, it would have been better if things were just ready to go in the first place. They are old units, so take that into consideration. However, the neighborhood is very quiet so I'll give it that.
Rent is cheap and close to UMBC. Used to live here but moved onto better apartments. Buildings have rodent issues, better hope your neighbors are clean. Apparently they allow smoking indoors so if you have asthma or any kids avoid.
First of all, we had a continuous mouse issue in our first apartment at mount ridge. After 8 months of dealing with it they finally offered to move us because they “tried” bombing it, had so many pest control people come in and out and it was still an issue. They didn’t offer us a solution until I wrote a bad review. We are still here because of Covid making it harder to find a place to live. We had an $80 water bill last month. Their reasoning (which they don’t tell you when you move in) is that the community is billed and then it’s split up by each resident’s # of occupants. We have never paid for less than $50 a month for water while living here which is insane. Oh and get this we only get 10 minute showers with warm water and then it won’t get hot again for another 2 hours (this isn’t even when the washer or dishwasher is running at all that day). Theres constantly bugs in our apartments which come out from the vents. We have had water damage creating cracks all over the ceiling in our apartment and they literally just plaster them over and paint and they crack again and again. There were HOLES in our roof which caused the water to come in. My daughter and I have mold allergies and the water on the ceiling surely didn’t help. The management sucks and never really fixes any issues until you poor bad reviews so maybe this will help but I doubt it. We will call the office so many times during office hours and no one picks up the phone. Most of the time their hours are inaccurate because they’ll leave early for the day or just not answer. I can’t wait until we get out of here but we weren’t able to sign anything less than a 10 month lease because of the rent control from covid. Avoid this place AT ALL COST.
This place is cheaper than the average in this neighborhood because your living conditions are comparable to living in a cardboard box in NYC streets! There are pest of all kinds, you'll deal with broken ac/heater unit for weeks, leaky toilet, neighbors going at it while you're kids room is right above theirs, wrappers from ppl smoking weed in the building. You'll also have to deal with crappy washers and dryers and the machine to load money is typically broken, and the leasing office has the worst office manager who talks to tenants like she works in the White House!! It's just not worth your sanity.. keep looking! Unfortunately I had to give a star in order to post.. not deserved at all
Property Manager at Mount Ridge Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your honest feedback. My name is David Hoyle and I am the Regional Manager for Mt. Ridge Apartments. I would like the opportunity to discuss your experience at Mt. Ridge and work towards a resolution. Please feel free to contact me at (410) 296-4800. I look forward to speaking with you.
I would have rated them 0 if I had the choice. This place is the worst. First the maintenance staff does not respond to your request. We called and emailed them about the problem we have but they ignored it. When the people upstairs use their tub, their nasty and dirty water come into our tub. so I have to clean the tub everyday. the maintenance staff came and saw the problem but decided to ignore it. As of today we still have that issue. Second, this apartment does not have a dishwasher, the laundry is two blocks away, and the walls and celling are so thin you can hear the neighbors doing their business. It is becoming unbearable to live in this situations for the money we pay for rent. While the rent amount is increasing, the quality of life is going down.

I moved into Mount Ridge a little over a month ago and I'm very happy with my decision. The leasing and maintenance staff are top notch and willing to go above and beyond to schedule work orders to fit your schedule. Robin, the assistant manager, was willing to bring maintenance out to install an additional outlet in my kitchen. She was also incredibly kind when I had to keep rescheduling the service because of family emergencies and the need to move my dog. The apartments are very dog friendly. There are plenty of doggie stations through out the community, and residents actually pick up after their pets. The apartments are a bit older, but full of character. The area is pretty safe and parking is never difficult.
Mount Ridge Apartments has everything...laundry facilities, a great staff, 1 bedroom apartments, 2 bedroom apartments, well-kept landscape, ample parking (that isn't just narrow street parking!!) excellent maintenance staff, and reasonable pricing. The realty company was always very quick to respond to even the slightest issue or problem. The complex has a Giant grocery store right down the street, is less than 5 minutes (in multiple directions) from the beltway, and is very close to UMBC and CCBC for college students of all ages. A UMBC shuttle even stops at the complex to pick students up. It is situated in a quite county neighborhood. Couldn't ask for more.
