Property Ratings at The Davis
First off: the previous management did not let existing tenants know of this acquisition. If you're moving to Baltimore, know that Chasen has been in the local news for getting sued by vendors for nonpayment. I was impacted by a vendor issue with the parcel lockers. Eventually got my package, but I had to threaten a call to a lawyer for it. The parcel lockers have been offline since late June 2024 and there's no ETA for fixing them. Building management never communicates with the tenants unless it's to beg them not to break or non-renew lease. I have spent two weeks on demanding an exterminator visit for a roach issue in a supposedly luxury apartment. The elevator has been having emergency line connection issues for a month now, which doesn't strike me as very luxury either. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Do NOT, under any circumstances, consider renting at this place – not even if you're desperate! My experience here has been nothing short of a nightmare. They can't even properly set up the furniture and appliances, and when things go wrong, they don't care about your damages or injuries. To name a few, appliances weren’t installed properly and running water is always an issue. The medicine cabinet in my bathroom was ONLY attached with a few STAPLED GUNS unto the wall, and when it reached a point where it became disintegrated, it fell on my head while I was washing my face. They didn't bat an eye, only offering to fix the cabinet. Neither owner nor management were concerned for my well-being whatsoever, especially to the physical condition or injury I sustained. A few months later, I had issue with the water where there is a total of 1,5 month of little to no running water and they would not even reimburse a partial amount of rent. Throughout my entire year there, the water pressure was consistently lower than the city's minimum standards. Management is NOT helpful in navigating any of these and the owner is even worse! I've gone as far as reporting them to the Federal Business Bureau. Save yourself all these trouble and frustration, and don't rent or do business here.
I currently live at 817 St. Paul, and while the building has so much potential and it's in a great location, the management has been absolutely terrible. As I write this, it's currently day 3 of the NINTH OR TENTH elevator outage since I moved in about four months ago. The only communication they'll ever give is "we're aware of it," but will drag their feet on repairs (it's been out as many as four days in a row) and not fix the underlying issues causing the problem. This is unacceptable for a 8-story building where people rely on the elevator to reach their apartments. The "24-hour emergency maintenance" they advertise is deceptive, it's someone (maybe, sometimes it take several times calling for them to even bother to pick up) answering the phone and saying there's nothing they can do outside of business hours. If you put in any maintenance request, it will be closed under the excuse of "we're currently only performing emergency maintenance." I have had soggy spots where water is coming through my windows, walls, and ceiling (and electrical issues in that same wall!) for about two months, and I'm still waiting for them to send somebody to take a look at it.
Building staff addresses maintenance and pest concerns quickly and is extremely friendly. There is a keyfobbed front door and I overall feel extremely safe here. Renters are mostly college students and young professionals and they respect the quiet hours. No package theft concerns. However, there's only one elevator and it breaks at least once a month. At one point, it broke over the weekend and was not fixed until the regular management work week. Putting this out in case anyone with a mobility concern is considering the building. Also, I do not take the garbage out after dark. The alley is well-lit, but it is not fenced in.
Highly recommend Mount Vernon Apartments! Wonderful location and walkable to several great restaurants. Property is well maintained and management has been very responsive and helpful.
I lived in a Mount Vernon Apartments for 2 years and it was an incredible experience! The leasing staff was friendly and kind and my property manager was always quick to respond when I had questions. They’re definitely a must if you rent in the area!
Do not get an apartment here, this place is horrendous. Poor management. I have lived here for over a year with some stuff outside the door on the wall. I live at the top floor in the rear, so it's physically impossible for me to block anyone since I'm the only one that walks through it. My friend was recently diagnosed with cancer and has been moving around apartment-wise, so I am storing a few of his things inside. I put some stuff under my chairs outside the door (again, still not intruding on walkway whatsoever). Randomly overnight, they took everything and threw it away without a single notice/warning, including my 200 dollar running shoes that I put outside for a single night because they were wet. They refused to tell me which trashcan they threw my stuff out in, and are now ignoring my questions. Super messed up and disrespectful, especially the day before Thanksgiving. Trash people. Management was wonderful a year ago, but has gone downhill since.
I have lived here for several years. Management changed in early 2019. The new team has been less than stellar. One their first decisions was to end walk-in visits from residents. More recently, they locked the trash rooms and are now forcing residents to take their trash to the alleyway behind the building, presumably to save money. They have installed lights to make the area safer but it still seems sketchy. There was a disturbance in that area a few weeks ago that required multiple police...
Beautiful modern apartments in Mount Vernon, in a great location with not too much noise, and very friendly people. They didn’t have parking at my specific property but they had a spot a block away which is very nice. Seems like great management so far and they had several different floor plans for me to look at. Very happy so far!
I currently live in one of their buildings and love my apartment. The staff is so nice and really accommodating. I've lived in a number of buildings in Baltimore and this is by far the best one. Everyone from the leasing team to maintenance makes you feel warm and welcome. It's very clean and cozy and best of all - ECO friendly! This building is has LED lighting, energy saving appliances and plumbing and recycling. There's a lot of cool lounges to hang out in Mount Vernon, a movie theater on Charles, multiple coffee shops and bars, gym etc the location is pretty good overall and you can get anywhere local or on the east coast from the Amtrak station 2 blocks away.
Pest issues including roaches and bedbugs. Management ignores and pretends its not Real.
I lived in one of their properties when I first moved to Baltimore. The location was great and made my commute incredible easy. The landlord was also easy to work with and dealt with any issues (which were always minor) very quickly. I would definitely recommend!
I lived here during for the last 3 years. The apartment I live in is so cool, 12 foot ceilings, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances and a little laundry room in the bathroom closet. The staff is super responsive and very nice.
100% the best place I have ever lived! The apartments are perfect! They are very large and newly renovated. The building also has a great community feel. The neighbors are all very nice and the neighborhood is in a great and safe location. To top it off the stuff is wonderful! Maintenance is very helpful and management staff is very nice. They really make you feel like you are at home. I highly recommend Mount Vernon Apartments!
I have had to deal with so many shady landlords that incentive I found Mount Vernon apartments I decided to stay here for 5 years now. Karen the manager is amazing and the maintenance staff is so nice.
As a current resident of Mount Vernon, I have to say that it is one of the best run properties that I have lived in and have really enjoyed living here. The building is well maintained with a nice staff and I always feel safe. It’s a very convenient place to live close to my work. Couldn’t recommend the building more.
I've been living here for a little over a year and I'm here to stay. Mount Vernon is the perfect place to call home. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous. Whenever I have an issue they solve it the same day. The kitchen is very large. I do a lot of heavy cooking so this is important to me. My neighbors are extremely friendly and all-around I feel very safe and happy here. I've never had such a good experience with an apartment so I had to write this review. They renovated it recently so it looks great! They are good to me so I wanted everyone to know that they really do go above and beyond for their residents at Mount Vernon.
I have enjoyed my 2.5 years at Mount Vernon and do not plan to leave anytime soon. Neighbors are courteous and the events and socials the building puts on makes it feel less city-like and more comfortable to come home. The staff is helpful and service request are always responded to by the next if not the same day.
The management at The Mount Vernon apartments were always on top of service requests and fulfilled requests within 24 - 48 hours!
This is a great company to rent from! My apartment is in great shape and the area is 10/10. My last place near Hopkins was a dump and the slumlord would never fix anything. Mount Vernon Apartments is 10/10 compared to 1/10 for my last landlord who didn't even have email!!!!
I've lived in Baltimore for the last 6 years. All different neighborhoods, Federal Hill (too many bros and drunk people 24/7), Fells Point/Canton (too expensive at this point) and finally for the last 3 years in Mount Vernon at Mount Vernon Apartments. My apartment is pretty awesome, about half the rent I was paying in Canton and have the same quality and the management is actually way better. If I email about something I get a reply usually the same day. The neighborhood is safe and lots of restaurants and shops you can walk to in addition from being 2 minutes from Penn Station and the Inner Harbor.
I moved in last year and just renewed for a second year. The building is in a great location and my apartment is very nice and the manager is super helpful. This is overall one of the best places I've ever resided .
My roommate and I are chose Madison for our spacious apartment, convenient location and affordable leasing options. Little did we know that the best part of this apartment would be their amazing staff. Each staff member has gone out of their way to make our move-in and stay as wonderful and convenient as possible. The leasing office goes the extra mile to facilitate an easy moving process and is always accessible for questions. We've loved living at the Madison and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
I've been living at the Madison for a year now, and plan to renew my lease. I live in a very spacious one bedroom apartment on the fifth floor of the building, and I've never had an issue that wasn't promptly and effectively tended to. The maintenance staff is friendly and respectful, and the landlord is as well. I have never seen a bug, rodent, spider, or any suspicious activity, and I've never needed to complain about noise or bad smells or rude neighbors. As close as it is to Downtown and Midtown, and as nice as Mount Vernon is, you would expect it to be more expensive, but I only pay $1000/month for a huge space and an amazing building. My only complaint is more a Baltimore issue than a Madison issue, and that is a dissatisfaction with Comcast; but, you would be hard-pressed to find an apartment that isn't already wired for that provider.
Good apartment building. Water is included in rent and the walls are thick so you can rarely hear neighbors. Building located in Mount Vernon, close multiple universities and transit stops. The fact that it uses window units instead of central air is why I give it four stars.
