Property Ratings at Mount Vernon Plaza
I live here. Place is great - big rooms and closets. Appliances not great but decent. A decent amount of the people that work here are incompetent. Especially the leasing office. Work orders are filled pretty quickly though. No website, rent is paid through check - they really need to update themselves. Surrounding area is great - quiet street yet only a block or two away from main streets. Directly next to cafe, cvs, and small park.
I can’t recommend this building at all. It’s not that nice of a building, but the rooms are spacious. They still have not opened the gym, which they said would open last summer. The front desk staff is completely incompetent and rude. They yell at residents for the slightest things, like asking for your package without showing them “proof” that you have a package, because they don’t want to get up and walk 5 feet back to where the packages are kept. They also don’t allow residents to sit on the stairs outside the apartment, because it “looks bad.” I think it would look like people are actually enjoying the space… instead they act like it’s a detention center. Don’t rent here.
I lived in this apartment for several years and generally had a pretty poor experience. The apartment is in a good location and set up fine but the pros end there. The staff is really difficult to manage and extremely unresponsive. They treat the building like a dorm and its pretty uncomfortable. The leasing and management office are really difficult to understand, don't know how to clearly communicate, and make errors that leave people in really bad lurches. The front desk staff is also really rude, they act like giving us our mail is a major favor and not part of the job. I cannot stress enough how bad dealing with management here is. Especially given their inability to communicate properly. Also, you pay in physical check form, so its just a dated system all around.
Throughout my short stay at this building every interaction with the leasing staff was unpleasant, stressful, and unprofessional. My leasing process was anything but seamless, with them being extremely unresponsive up to the start date of the lease and completely unorganized with the leasing documents. I felt the staff was unprepared for my appointment to sign the lease, and after all the stress and time that went into organizing the documents my name was spelled wrong and they needed to be recreated. My move out process was just as unpleasant. The staff was unresponsive, and seemed to have communication issues within their own office. After being told we did not comply with the lease termination process and would need to extend the lease another month, I received a phone call from a staff member asking for my key for move out inspection. She was completely unfamiliar with my leasing documents and when the lease was supposed to terminate. She stated that I was trying to break my lease early, and not follow the correct term (this was after going back and forth with the office for over a week on trying to confirm my intent to terminate). I had to explain the error to her that she was misreading my leasing documents that she had created. I also received conflicting information from different staff members during the extremely stressful process. I am glad to be done with this building, and do not recommend it to others even though the price is very good for the location. The stress and unpleasant interactions throughout the entire process were not worth it.
Worst customer service ever. You don't post a phone number online ((844) 460-2652)) and then expect to be contacted "only for emergencies".
This apartment building is in a great location with great rent. The apartments have plenty of space for 2 or 3 people, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Leading and management staff is attentive but not outstanding. Apartments are updated with high end products but it is reflected in the low rent which is preferable for someone like me who is a young professional who values the cove isn't and walkable location
MVP Apartments is conveniently located near a metro stop, 3 grocery stores, numerous restaurants, and downtown. The staff are friendly and helpful. Though MVP does not the amenities of some more expensive places, such as a pool or roof deck, it does have a garage, a gym, and a business center. In addition, there is a small park and café next door. There are not a lot of bells and whistles at MVP but the building is clean, the units are of good size, and, most importantly, you will experience comfortable living.
Mt. Vernon Plaza is pretty spacious for the rent my roommates and I pay. We have a two bedroom with three of us living there. The master bedroom is definitely large enough to fit two queen sized beds at opposite ends with a walk in closet and space to spare. Our living room is larger than any of us expected. The kitchen is average size. The building's elevators are probably the thing that I complain about most, often having one or two of the three elevators out of service or seemingly just not working. Management is pretty good and responds to maintenance requests pretty quickly. Great location halfway between U St bars and China Town. 10 minutes form two grocery stores and right next door to a CVS and a cafe. It's not a luxury building by any stretch of the imagination, but it's pretty good.
Mount Vernon plaza is a 8 story building comprised of one and two bedroom apartments, as well as townhouses. The location of the building is so convenient; walkable to almost every metro stop in central DC. Mount Vernon Plaza is close to the up and coming neighborhood, Shaw. The bars and restaurants have great happy hours and are seemingly less crowded than the more popular bars downtown. My roommate and I lived in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment on the ground floor. The apartment is pretty cheap for the location. We also lucked out and had an outside balcony area. The community courtyard is right in the center of the building too, secluded from the outside world. If you step foot in this courtyard, perhaps to play softball or throw a frisbee around, prepare to get yelled at by management. Apparently this courtyard is just for show. The building entrance is guarded 24/7 by the most miserable of people. If you're lucky enough, one of the guards will be parked in your parking spot that you pay $195/month for because "their spot was taken." Picking up mail is like asking them to bend over backwards for a favor. But enough about them! I would give this place 5/5 stars for location, and literally zero stars if I could for everything else.
2BR/2 bath Apartment has two floors and a separate street entrance from the rest of the building, which is great. Downstairs bedroom is tiny, and the door to the 'courtyard' (pavers, rendering the space mostly useless) blocks off even more of the room. There is adequate storage space for such a small unit, but there is almost no natural light entering the space. In unit laundry is a plus. Management is sub-par, with no online services and limited office hours. Location overall is good, as it is close to other areas, but the immediate surrounding area (1-2 blocks) does not have an abundance of amenities.
Mount Vernon Plaza is the place to be if you are looking for two bed room apartment. The two bedroom apartments are very spacious, the staff is friendly, and the residents are quite/friendly as well.
Mount Vernon Plaza's greatest feature is its location, situated at the nexus of some great DC neighborhoods (Mount Vernon, Logan Circle and Shaw. The building provides some amenities and the units are in decent shape (not new but certainly not in bad shape by any means). I would recommend this apartment to young professionals or small families looking for a good value, with no frills, but in a great location!
I have lived in Mt Vernon Plaza for a year and it's almost too good to be true! The concierge desk is personable and maintenance requests are answered and resolved the next or same day. Everyone is so helpful! I am in a 2br/2ba and it's very spacious. There is a stacked washer/dryer in the unit along with a dishwasher - so convenient! Heat and AC are also controlled by each tenant which is the best because your apartment will always be the temperature you want. The building is conveniently located right by a CVS, grocery story and less than a 10-minute walk from every metro line and the Verizon Center. It also has a dog park right next to it! I can't stop raving about this place and I hope you have the opportunity to live here and see it for yourself!
