Marble City, named for Knoxville’s history as a marble quarry, is a neighborhood on the northern shores of the Tennessee River. Full of cottages and bungalows on winding streets and plentiful landscaping, Marble City is a convenient Knoxville neighborhood due to its proximity to the downtown area.
The area puts an emphasis on the natural beauty of Tennessee, with five parks supplying plenty of recreational opportunities. The Third Creek Greenway is a particularly popular gem, leading residents through scenic trails with views of the river.
Sutherland Ave. is the major thoroughfare in Marble City. It connects to Downtown Knoxville while avoiding the I-40 and I-275, and houses natural foods stores, popular barbecue spots, and river outfitters.

Property Ratings at Mountain Brook Knoxville
This place is all business and no morals. Our carpet was disgusting before we moved in and told management. Now they are trying to charge us $750 for replacing the carpet, even though we agreed the carpet needed to be changed before we moved in. They will nickel and dime you without hesitation and still find ways to tack on any extra fees that they can. Management’s communication with renters and maintenance is almost non-existent, so good luck getting them to listen without having to remind them every day. Steeplechase apartments off Central Avenue is a much better choice.
I was not able to even view the apartments, but my experience has been extremely poor. I scheduled an appointment for a Saturday to view the apartments, and when we arrived their office was closed. I received no notice by email or phone of this change. I left a voicemail to let them know and ask to reschedule. I tried calling Monday morning and was hung up on once and then they let the phone ring for 4 separate calls. I left a voicemail, and then called back later. When I got ahold of someone, they apologized for missing our appointment and said there had been a “change in management.” They then preceded to tell me there were no available apartments, despite what was showing on here. I am still confused as to why I was not told when I made the original appointment. The amount of time that I wasted and disrespect I was shown makes me glad that I will not be renting from here.
Property Manager at Mountain Brook Knoxville, Responded To This Review
Hello, We do appreciate your feedback. This helps us learn and to grow. We apologize for all the inconveniences that this may have caused you. It is definitely not our intentions to cause anyone to feel as if they were disrespected. We do have a large waitlist, and we are very eager to assist all that have applied. This may be why we showed availability, one day but not the next. We would still be more than happy to take a tour with you and apply you to the waitlist as well if you would like. Thank you.
I have been a resident with this complex for a little over a year. I’ve done my best to be a respectful tenant. On April 25, 2019, maintenance informed us that there was a leak coming from behind the wall in the hall bathroom, which is my bathroom. They had to make a hole in the wall behind the sink cabinet. We have no idea if the leak has been fixed, they never told us. They placed a dehumidifier in the bathroom and told us to run it constantly along with running the fan for FIVE DAYS. This will of course run up our electric bill, which we try hard to keep as low as possible. They said we would have to empty the dehumidifier as well. All of this is a huge inconvenience. We reached out to the leasing office to see if we could receive a concession on our rent due to the trouble. We were offered a pitiful and offensively low amount of $25 from Carolyn, who was rude to my roommate. I feel insulted and disrespected as a tenant. I regret renewing another 6 month lease with this place. If you want to be treated well and have a habitable place to live, do not rent from Mountain Brook apartments off Sutherland Avenue.
I have lived here for over a year an have always tried to be a good tenant. There was recently a leak in the wall of our bathroom that was not caused by any of the residents. Maintenance had to put a hole in the wall along with a humidifier, which is loud, and asked it to run constantly for 5 days. Then had the nerve to ASK US to empty it out when it gets full. When I called and asked how we would be compensated for our inconvenience. Carolyn was not willing to help and rude. If you ever want to be treated with respect, keep looking elsewhere.
We have lived at Mountain Brook for a year and a half. We absolutely LOVE this place. It is affordable but newly renovated and quiet. The apartment manager and staff are wonderful and always welcome visits to the office and treats for our dog! Maintenance calls are always filled in a timely manner. We love calling this place our home with our cat and dog! We enjoy cooking out on the gas grill on beautiful days and warming up by the gas fire pit on cool evenings.
Mountain Brook is a great place to call home and located in the perfect location!
When we moved here a few years ago it was great rent was decent and apts was well maintained. After new management came in everything fell apart because they are cheap. Hiring friends to do the maintenance spray painted the parking lot instead of repaving it rent went up almost $200 and there is nothing to show for it. You have to share a grill by the pool which is never clean (the grill). They will move you in and try and make you pay by the room like it's a apartment for college students. I've seen families move in and out in the same week. And so much more goes on I'm glad my lease is up this month so I can move out this place!!!!
We have been living here over a year now and love it! Whenever we have had an issue with anything it is addressed right away! Also, love all the local restaurants near by!
I moved in, in March of 2017. I absolutely love living here! They keep the place clean and looking nice which is always a bonus! They have Lil community get togethers for the residents at the pool or by the fire pit!! Last summer they threw Pizza n Beer by pool, was awesome!! They supplied it all for these as well. The Family community area has a gas grill, a seating area that is covered, a fire pit with several chairs around it, and a very nice pool! Before I moved here, I lived somewhere else for one year and absolutely hated that place so much I ran as soon as lease was up!!! Before that my family had a townhouse for 8 years, received a blessing of a beautiful daughter n had to move get an extra room! I love this place just as much as I did that one! Pricing is fair as well. I would definitely recommend Mountain Brook 2 anyone reading this! God bless???
My husband and I have lived here for a year, so pre the buy out and name change. The new office staff is very friendly. My only maintenance emergency by the new staff had them knocking on my door within 5 minutes. They quickly went about fixing the problem (a leak from my upstairs neighbors pipe) and having my ceiling repaired. The area is not loud, but occasionally someone will come through with loud music on but as it is not consistant I believe noisey must be a visitor. While the changes haven't always been easy always, we're both delighted with the way things are moving forward at MBA. The parking is ample and I've never felt unsafe here, which is a big accomplishment in Knoxville and a big change from our last complex. For the most part the tenants are friendly or just keep to themselves. Currently September 2016, there are a lot of families in the complex. We like it here, and highly recommend it, and trust me our standards are very rigorous.
