While there is a variety of rentals in the Wausau metropolis, the early bird catches the worm. The city’s rent rates are often more affordable than those in surrounding areas, which makes it even cheaper to rent an apartment with roommates or a growing family.
Converted warehouses downtown offer unique apartments that are in walking distance of everything, such as Limericks Public House and Red Eye Brewing Company. Several large apartments have popped up near Northcentral Technical College’s campus, and you may want to live near Stewart Avenue if you’re attending classes at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County.
Wausau has been named one of Wisconsin’s Bird Cities – and a renewed effort to add bike lanes in addition to its many walking paths has enabled residents to get in touch with nature. There are many parks, several blooming gardens, and multiple fresh markets that afford residents fresh produce weekly.

Property Ratings at Mountain View Apartments
I throughly enjoyed my time living here. The apartment itself was clean, spacious, and quiet. All of the neighbors were incredibly kind. The landlord was very responsive anytime I had a question or concern. The apartment is close to town, but yet it’s tucked away for a sense of privacy. All in all, this is a great choice if looking for a place to live.
It’s okay but not the best in my opinion. Items in house seem to be old and keep breaking down, like the blind wand, light switch, the toilet flushes after multiple attempts and makes a prolonged noise afterward and so on. Management needs to do better
The apartments themselves are quite nice. We have had a very bad experience with the landlords getting them to fix things that need to be repaired. Bob the owner treats you like a jerk and makes you feel dumb. Very unimpressed with him. Also they hardly ever answer the phone I've been calling and calling and they never pick up. Once the door knob fell off and was busted and they were not going to come until the next day. If I didn't have a ladder in my truck to be able to climb to the balcony I would have never been able to get in.
Nice apartments themselves but landlords are very unprofessional. If you’re reading this and you trust reviews or you just browse at them, take my word. I was a resident for almost 5 years, how they treated me on my way out was rude and disrespectful. They lack any sort of communication and good luck finding a phone number or an email for them to actually respond to. You only get the real important phone number upon leaving so they can get your last check and you probably owe them money after your stay there. Ask any of the residents that call this place home what it’s like to work with these landlords. The community itself is great and I enjoyed all of my neighbors over the years, but you can find that anywhere with better landlords.
Property Manager at Mountain View Apartments, Responded To This Review
This is unfortunate that you felt this way! We pride ourselves on being timely and communicative. We Provide all residents with the phone number, which is on the lease, you can also access us by using Apartments .com for emails or phone calls. We are family owned and ran. There isn't another complex where you get hands on interaction with the owners for maintenance, showings, leasing, cleaning, snow removal and lawn care. We make the moving in process as easy as the moving out process as this may be a stressful time for some. Again, I'm sorry this didn't go the way you had planned. We would like to know more in-order to prevent frustration for others in the future. Sincerely, Shannon
Spacious, open concept living with the peaceful Rib River near by. Kayak access, coming home to views of Rib mountain, and convenient west side location are some of the unexpected perks. The owners are the kindest, most authentic, and caring people. The snow is shoveled and the grass is mowed and maintenance calls are timely. A great place to live. An even harder place to leave!
Nice place to live but needs updates for sure, but nice location.

Thanks for the review We do offer a tanning bed on site with a fitness Center at our main building. Which is free use to the residents that live with us
This is a great apartment complex. Rent is very reasonable for all the amenities provided -- in-unit washer/dryer, heat included, AC, large kitchen, 1-car garage, large parking lot and access to a fitness center. Management has always been responsive and quick when I had a problem. The unit was spotless with I moved in and everything was in good condition.
Nice apartments and amenities. Horrible responses and response time from management.
Best apartment I've stayed at so far. The landlord is very responsive to maintenance calls and usually comes within a day. They respect your privacy and will not stop for no reason. They are pretty good about snow removal, though it does take them some time to get through all the lots. The neighborhood is friendly and quiet and is family friendly. I can't really hear my neighbors, but I'm not sure if it's because the walls are thick enough or if they are just quiet. The only complaint I have about the area is that it takes the city a while to plow since it's on a dead end.
We have a one bedroom one attached garage and its just beautiful inside ! Lived here for 1 year and 3 months. The landlords are very good about yard work, answering calls, and helping our needs right away. Our neighbors have been great so far. I love it here ! It is very spacious. The first place that feels right. We can't wait until we update to a two bedroom ! Just wish there were town homes that were side by side, instead of upstairs downstairs because the sound quality isn't sound proof at all. We are lucky our neighbor isn't very loud. Other than that its a great place to live.
Having considerate attentive management that cares about the property means a lot to me. I've needed to call for assistance three times in the two years I've been here. ALL three times my requests were met with timely consideration. The landlord was out plowing our parking lots and walks on Christmas morning! I realize the liability of having snow cleared but would have understood it not being done on Christmas :-) Very happy renter!
This building has a great management and staff team. They are very prompt in responding to the renters needs. Outdoor space has a volleyball court and campfire pit. Not to mention the well equipped fitness center with sauna and tanning bed. All of this is included in the reasonable priced rent. Close to shopping and many fine restaurants. Absolutely love my apartment complex.
I have lived here for 4 months now and I have zero complaints. The rent is reasonable. My one bedroom lower is small, but beautiful, and the quality that went into building these apartments is great. I don't know who patches the holes after you move out, but I couldn't even find where a previous hole had been (I don't know why but that totally impressed me!). We had a large snowfall last week, and they did a great job with snow removal. The only then I don't like is that some cars don't park in stalls or in their garages, instead, they park along the grass in front of my apartment which ruins my view!
I have not moved in yet but am excited to do so. The apt. was spotless, the grounds beautiful. Seems like a nice fit for me
