The neighborhood is walkable and bicycle-friendly, making it easy to enjoy the variety of boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, taprooms, and pubs that populate the historic buildings.
Cutler Park is located in the heart of downtown and is the site of concerts and events. It features a wooded green space, walking paths, a playground, and the Les Paul Performance Center. Carroll University, established in 1846 and the oldest university in Wisconsin, is located on the south side of Downtown Waukesha. Waukesha County Technical College is also downtown, located off East Broadway.

It is a great location and a fair price. Secure package room. Every interaction I have had with staff has been positive. They are really good at communicating. Calen is sooo nice! I love living at Mountain Village
Property Manager at Mountain Village, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you've loved your two years at Mountain Village Apartments. Positive interactions and clear communication are what we strive for, and it's great to know Calen has left such a positive impression. We're so glad you enjoy living here!
We were moving in from out of state and didn't get to see the apartment in person before moving in. It was exactly how it was in the virtual tour though. We absolutely love the location. We just moved here from out of state and absolutely love it. Both the apartment complex and Waukesha. The neighbors are all respectful of quiet hours and noise in general. I haven't met a single staff person that wasn't absolutely fantastic. The maintenance people are so respectful and on top of things too; I don't think we have waited longer than 24hrs (if that) for any request. Literally the only downside if I had to say something "bad" is the gym is a little small (but you can still get a full workout in). On a really good top side, the only thing you can't walk to is a full grocery store, everything else is 15 minutes or less so we often go downtown on the weekends for dinner and drinks. It couldn't be in a better place.
I recently moved here from another county. Trying to find some place to rent when not living in the area already was a real pain except for Mountain Village. They responded quickly to all of my inquiries and the application and approval process was easy and not overly complicated. Everyone in the leasing office is friendly, helpful, and genuine. Maintenance is very fast and friendly. Garage parking and laundry services on site have made my life a lot easier. The location is great. Very close to downtown with lots to do in the area. I am really happy with my new apartment and glad I moved here.
Very clean, quite, friendly place. Maintenance is quick to repair and friendly to work with.
I’m usually very weary about renting from a rental company, due to many negative past experiences. This complex completely changed my view! Maintenance is always able to fix any issues in a timely manner, everyone on staff is incredibly kind, and the office has someone there a majority of the time to answer any questions that you may have. The property is clean and well kept!
Mountain Village is located right across the street from Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Great place for elderly or those who are employed there. Office handles maintenance requests immediately. Nice apartments and quiet. Love underground garage. Close to downtown Waukesha & parks!!!!
I’ve been living here for 2 1/2 years. Great location to downtown. Property management is super nice and efficient. Maintenance requests get done very fast. The gym could use some new equipment but there are other options on the area.
As a happy resident of Mountain Village for 2 years, I have to say there is something incredibly special about this complex. The location is within the heart of downtown Waukesha, making it a quick walk to all the restaurants, nightlife/attractions that the city has to offer, but resides peacefully on the hill providing the ideal location to live with a beautiful view overlooking the entire city. The friendly management team is quick to respond to any requests and do a great job maintaining the building. Added bonuses is that all packages are locked in a room to prevent theft and there is a great gym facility as well!
The property is well kept and the management staff is prompt and responsive regarding any issues you may have. Very quiet inside the apartments and being only 2 blocks from downtown Waukesha's shops and restaurants is a huge plus.
I have really enjoyed my time at Mountain Village. The managers are quick to respond to questions and the maintenance crew is timely with requests. It’s quiet and the gym/public spaces are kept very clean.
Fast repairs, affordable prices and friendly staff!
I love the environment of friendly nice people that work and also love there. It’s a very quiet area, but one you’ll never forget.
My fiance and I love our apartment here at Mountain Village. We just moved in 3 months ago and enjoy how peaceful it is here. Matinence has helped out very quickly with the couple small issues we had at first.
This was my first time renting and overall I had an amazing experience. The area is really good. I have never had a problem before. People are generally friendly but also stay to themselves. Management takes the effort to get to know people and make interactions personable each time. On-call repairs always were done in a timely manner by the two amazing maintenance men. Common spaces are kept clean. Overall I would suggest this apartment complex to anyone. The only drawback is parking since often guests do not park in the designated spots.
Living here since November of 2019. Really growing to like this place and glad I chose it. Maintenance staff is excellent too.
I moved to Waukesha for a job and needed something that was close to work while still within my budget. This place covered both. So far I have enjoyed living here and don't have any complaints. The only reason for losing a star is for minor issues and ongoing problems that may or may not be related with the apartment complex. (i.e. missing packages{probably Christmas holiday related}, appliance issues, etc.) Overall happy with my experience. Looking forward to future good experiences as well.
Great location in downtown Waukesha. Great staff, secure buildings, workout facility, and updated apartments. I've loved living here.
Great location in downtown near a ton of cool shops, friendly and helpful staff, nice workout area and secure room for package deliveries, modern layout and spacious apartments.
Nice modern designs. Great pet policies. Apartment management is very friendly and accommodating of needs.
We love it here! Great location. Close to downtown Waukesha. And not a far drive drom Milwaukee or Madison. The apartments are quiet from other tenets and we see alot of birds and flowers near by. Also, the have a nice suze exercise room and a centeral computer roo.. we have live here about 4 years and we love it here.
Mountain Village has been a great place to live. The staff is friendly, and they are very responsive if there is anything you need. The amenities and location are great as well!
I am proud to call Mountain Village “Home”!The apartments are spacious, updated, and reasonably priced! The best part about living here is the help you receive from the team in the office and the maintenance crew! They go above and beyond to take care of their residents! The apartments are also just a short walk to downtown Waukesha so you can easily partake in all the fun activities! I highly recommend Mountain Village!!
Mountain Village Apartments is a magical place to live. You truly get the best of both worlds here. Whether you prefer the ambiance of the woods or the madness of the city, the choice is yours. I love being walking distance from downtown! We have lived here for just over a year, and will stay for as long as they’ll have us! The management is friendly, welcoming, and always on the ball. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Mountain Village!!
I have lived here for 3 years and just signed another lease for year 4, this has been a great experience for apartment living! Whenever there is an issue or concern that I bring to the office it is rectified as immediately as possible and taken very seriously. They have also gone above and beyond with helping, when I don't get home early enough to get packages from the office they will deliver them with no hesitation. Overall I would recommend living here to anyone!
We highly recommend Mountain Village apartments. This was one of the best communities we have ever stayed, the apartments were very well maintained, very safe with good neighborhood. The apartments are beautiful, High quality, good amenities and most important, the people who work there are extremely friendly, professional and helpful. The leasing and maintenance staff is great in handling the maintenance issues, always prompt and quick. We always felt like a valued resident and they always worked to do whatever they could to resolve any issues I had. They are great about maintaining the property and when heavy snow falls in the winter that is especially important. Covered parking is great. Thank you Eileen and Samantha for making our stay great at Mountain Village :) :)
I've lived in one of the townhouses for about a year and a half now, and I'm very pleased with the new management. Jason and Eileen have been so helpful with everything, and whenever I have a maintenance request, someone is always here within a day or two. It's about a 10 minute walk to downtown, but there is plenty of privacy and quiet with the buildings being up on a hill, with the exception of the occasional fire truck sirens. It's a really safe place to live, and the amenities are to die for. Well worth the money!
The ladies in the office have been so lovely! They moved up our move in day so I could get into my new place before an international trip. They have responded quickly to any concerns/questions we have had. Would highly recommend it!
Great place to live right in downtown Waukesha and everything it has to offer; restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. In a very walkable / bikeable area and 2 blocks away from the downtown transit center. Bike trails to Milwaukee and Madison are literally a few blocks away as well. Highly recommend checking out the Mountain Village!!
Mountain Village is a great place to live. The staff are well-informed and very helpful and are quick to fix any problems should they arise. I live in the 01 building up the hill and it is probably the most quiet of all the buildings. There are a few inconveniences as well: the lights outside sometimes don't come on at night and it can go unnoticed for a few days and you have to go to the main building to load your laundry card, but the good certainly outweighs the bad. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a place to live in Waukesha.
Currently I am renting an updated 2 bed 2 bath apartment and I am very satisfied with the layout and appliances. Management is easy to communicate with and are timely with completing work orders. They also honor giving 12/24 hours notice of entering your apartment, so you don't have to worry about unexpected and unwanted visits. The apartment complexes are also a hop, skip, and a jump away from Main street. Overall, my experience has been very positive with residing at Mountain Village.
I've been living in these apartments for the past 4 months and I have nothing but great things to say! I recently moved to the state and fell in love as soon as I was shown my unit. Maintenance is fast and very polite while the main office staff are alway available and ready to help. All the appliances are updated, the view from the balcony is beyond beautiful, and the location is perfect for it you want to spend the night downtown.
The front office workers are great! very attentive with any issues or concerns, timely with repairs. buildings are all clean and well maintained including laundry facilities, parking garage and lobby area. Overall it's a quiet place to live.
Been a resident for 2 years now, the property management team is great, they take care of things quick and are quite courteous and helpful. There are occasional contests to get out of a months rent and such, which needless to say is pretty rad. The apartments are all being updated with brand new appliances, counter tops and flooring/carpeting too and the location is perfect, right by Downtown Waukesha.
Attentive staff, beautifully kept grounds and centrally located. A friendly and kind community make Mountain Village a wonderful place to call home.
Good people, great staff, good maintenance, prompt response, good other eminities, Overall nice place to live
I've lived here for the last seven months and have been more than content with the living environment that Mountain Village offers. It's peaceful and quiet and every encounter I've had with other residents has been friendly and pleasant. The underground parking is nice during the cold months. It is also a prime location for I am just a short walk from downtown and all, right down the road from many freeways. My lease isn't up for about five months but I am already plan on renewing my lease when this one is up.
Amazing people working in the office and maintenance is prompt, thorough and professional. Great location, close to downtown shopping and art galleries. Signed Lynda B
This is a wonderful community apartment complex. Excellent staff and well maintained grounds. I would not live anywhere else but here. The rent is affordable and they have much to offer. A big perk is being within walking distance from downtown but still keeping a quite atmosphere. The views from the buildings are amazing and the other renters are very nice. This is place rocks. Shawn B.
Fun fact - Mountain Village went under new ownership around October 2015. The reviews before then were for different management. Pros - Nice location - walking distance to food and bars, quiet, clean hallways and laundry rooms, maintenance responds quickly, Axiom (company that owns mountain village) is great to work with, online bill pay, nice new gym, upgraded appliances Cons - Management is VERY rude - Eileen is the only nice one, packages that don't fit in your mailbox have to be picked up at the office during office hours, not much sunlight in the apartments, laundry machines don't take quarters - laundry chip card is a pain, new gym TVs do not have cable - only 4 or 5 channels, they entered my apartment without permission twice (that I know of), their snow plows take a while to come and cars get stuck at the bottom of the hill, you will hear sirens from the fire station in your apartment (you get used to it tho) Overall - I would recommend living at Mountain Village to anyone that doesn't have Amazon Prime - Constantly picking up packages was the worst part about living there. Management is rude but they do work hard.
I lived here for 11 plus years. I moved out of state which did not go quite as planned. I am coming back because I love this place. Axiom has made quite a few improvements including new washers/dryers in the laundry rooms. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but things are well maintained and the office staff is really great. You have wooded views or views of the city. Even if you face another building, it is nicely landscaped with trees and shrubs. It really is a great place to call home!
This has a nice location in proximity to downtown, and has great amenities with a W/D in unit. The apartments are clean and have a fairly new appearance. The only downfall is their prices are a little higher than others in the area, but you get a great place for what you pay.
