Property Ratings at Mountain Vista
Management deals with maintenance issues, and generally keeps common spaces clean. These are old buildings so you will have mice sightings occasionally if you leave food out. The baseboard heating systems are ancient, but do work well. AC units are pretty weak, the window units can't cool the whole apartment if temps get above 90F. My unit doesn't have a dishwasher, but I think some of the newer units do. As long as they don't increase the rent, Mountain Vista is a fair deal. -I lived here 2 years.

Hi Derek, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We're working hard to maintain a high-quality and comfortable home for our residents, so we do appreciate your feedback and ideas for improvement. Please give us a call to chat further about your experiences. It'd be a pleasure speaking with you!
management doesn't respond. mice get into the apartment and you have to buy traps yourself, even though you pay for pest control. the bedroom is completely unusable due to no central A/C. We sleep in the living room. The parking lot has a nice little jungle to park next to, where rats, mice, and mushrooms love to live. there's no service here whatsoever, you HAVE to use wifi. Look elsewhere, this is not worth the money.

- paint over everything instead of cleaning it; There are clumps of dust stuck on the walls because they painted over it instead of wiping it off (see picture) - My apartment was not cleaned by my move-in date. our feet/socks would turn black from walking around and the walls left visible grime on your hands if you touched them. My husband and I called about getting the apartment cleaned, but they painted over things instead of cleaning at all. We spent hours cleaning the place ourselves and moved-in three days after we were supposed to. - maintenance requests marked as "complete" but nothing was done - There is a huge hole in the wall behind my cabinet. It looks like someone needed access to the breaker that is on the other side, but then didn't fix the huge hole they put in the wall..? - When it gets cold, the hot water/ boiler doesn't work. When I had lived here for 4 months, the hot water has not worked on 3 different occasions. - They also took one of the panels from a sliding closet-door (that is the door to the bedroom closets) and stuck it on the small closet as a makeshift closet-door, so it is not even and looks bad. - Several things were installed crooked, like the thermostat and cabinets -The bedroom door fell off of its hinges two months after I moved in. - On my fees one month, I was being charged a "vacant fee". I went to the leasing office to ask about it, and was told that the fee was from the beginning of my lease when I had not set-up utilities for a few days. Which, to reiterate my point from earlier, I did not move in until three days after the start of my lease because my apartment was not cleaned. I asked them to remove the charge and received a lot of push-back. Finally, they agreed to drop ONE of the vacant fees, BUT the lady from the leasing office told me, "you'll have to call on ___ day and remind me to drop it. I won't remember," instead of making a note or writing it down at all... On the day, I called and spoke to someone else (the original woman was not in that day) to remind them to take these fees off of my account. I received some push-back again, but ended up getting them to take both vacant fees from my bill. - this place will nickel-and-dime you - the “business center” is two computers & one tiny printer with little room to sit . - They advertise free weights but there are none. Don't live here.

We moved out August of 2018. Leasing office has changed (yet again) and canceled our payment plan without telling us. When we called we spoke to a lady (Allie? Maybe?) and she was so patient and kind with us- she seemed like she wanted to help but didnt know what she could do. She was professional and courteous to our situation. I was told I could make payment upfront or it would be sent to collections (we've have this payment plan since February). We were upset and asked for a manager- who never called us back. Three days later we called back again and luckily got the manager, Austin, first try. She told us we had been sent to collections and that she couldn't help us. She was rude, unprofessional, was cutting us off as we asked questions, and when I asked for her corporate number she told me I could GOOGLE it because she wasn't going to give me it. I am a manager myself and if I ever heard that one of my employees told an upset guest to Google my corporates number because they didnt want to give it to them- we would have a big deal on our hands. If this is how they treat someone who isnt living there anymore- what makes you think they arent going to treat you the same way once you sign their lease? Run. There is nothing about this apartment complex that is worth it. Apartments are tiny. Management (Austin) is a joke. Allie (I hope that's her name) is the only possible hope this apartment community has. I understand being frustrated with your guests- but theres a certain level of professionalism you need to maintain- sad that the manager didnt have any of it.
Do not do not DO NOT move here. Management switched twice when I lived there and the housing office has been a complete mess. Everything is so unorganized and it's gotten to the level of being unprofessional. I dealt with them on an issue after I moved out for MONTHS that should've taken them no more than a day for them to figure out. Lynette is the saving grace of the apartment complex, but it seems like everyone else has no idea what's going on. Certainly not worth the base rent cost, and on top of that, there are bogus miscellaneous charges. They nickel and dime you for sure, with no value coming from it. The laundry card machine was broken for months, their methods of payment processing is ludicrous, and their "new" online system is archaic. Unresponsive to emails and calls the entire time I was there. Maintenance staff takes a while to get things done, and in one instance I work ordered something twice and it was not fixed either time so I just gave up on them. Live somewhere else. Please.
Would not recommend this place. Loved having my own apartment. First place I moved into on my own. But was not worth the money I was paying. Figured out I could pay the same amount somewhere else and would have more amenities. Fees on my utility bill that didn’t make sense. Did not help out with my heater nor my a/c. I had 100 degree apartment in the summer and 30 degree winter. They kept putting fixing it off. The new office people are rude. Rather have the old office. Once new management came we left.

It takes a lot to get me upset or in this case write a negative review. I do not know where to begin with the problems with Mountain Vista. First of all, the online portal is inconvenient to pay rent and the office staff is quick to blame the resident for technical issues. They only accept payments on the online portal which has many flaws. I submitted a payment and they claimed they never received it. I called trying to resolve the issue and was still charged a late fee! The "recurring payment" option is worthless because your utilities bill isn't charged with the rent and you'll end up still getting a late fee. I would use this recurring option just to ensure they receive their rent or even submitting a check to the office and not be blamed and charged for a technical issue. Secondly, there are many abbreviated miscellaneous “fees" and "charges" on the utilities bill that are ridiculous and confusing. You would think all these charges would reflect on the building and maintenance, which brings me to the next issue. In regards to maintenance and the building, there have been a few washers/dryers out of service for months and no attempt has been made to fix or replace them. The A/C unit smell likes mildew when turned on. My unit is falling apart from the constant “patching”. For example, my countertops are rotting, bathtub paint is pealing, and sink isn’t draining. Some of the neighbors have no regard or respect for noise. You can hear them walk like a marching band, walls and windows vibrate, people speaking loudly in the middle of the night, etc. The building has a pest issue that doesn’t seem to get better. My unit is being treated for the THIRD time since moving in a few months ago. They only gave us a notice the night before treating the unit. The first time the pest control didn’t even show up on the scheduled day! It would be nice to be able to prepare and not have all my clothes and linen contaminated! Lastly, all residents are required to pay additional for Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi is not always reliable esp. for streaming videos and music. Despite all the negative reviews online, I gave Mountain Vista the benefit of the doubt but I honestly can say I regret moving here and will not be renewing my lease. Also, don’t rely on the office staff and management. They are rude, unprofessional, and constantly lie. It’s a broken record player of “I’m sorry” and “surprised faces” when a complaint is made. I’m tired of all the broken promises.
I am renting a private condo. 2 bedrooms and a loft. Has a nice pool.
