Mountainside is a quiet community in a terrific location with a management company that is terrible … cheaply made repairs so it takes multiple occurrences for outdated broken down items to actually be replaced. Bathroom refurbished peels when hot water or cleaners are used … ok yo live as long as you don’t mind interiors from the 1990s that are held together with tape and glue … dented rusty appliances… and not enough parking

I love living at Mountainside apartments! They are close to hiking trails, bike trails, a park, community swimming pool and gyms. The local grocery stores and other stores are located close.

Mountainside is a place you want to wake up everyday, as well as a place you can’t wait to return to for comfortable, peaceful, relaxation at our homes here. I have lived here for almost 4 years. It’s a great place to live. Maintenance comes by the next day 100% of the time since I’ve needed them for Something fixed or replaced. If your air not working properly or leaking of water they come immediately.

Maintenance of the lawns and shrubbery are always on a regular basis. You never have to wait months for a repair. The office has always informed the residents of any issues or maintenance being completed on the property. The buildings look clean and we have all new outside lighting for the night. The office staff is polite and efficient.

I was very patient about this issue but I am patient no longer. I just wanted to bring attention to the unfair practices of property management companies, particularly the one I used to live in. I received a refund for my security deposit in mid july. After depositing the check I thought everything was good, but it turns out it wasn’t. I received notification from my bank several days later that the refund check I deposited bounced! I was even more shocked that the reason for return is NSF. I immediately informed Greystar about this and was reassured by the Regional Property Manager that the check should be good. I asked the bank to re-run the check under this reassurance and they said they would hold the check another 7 days. That time has since passed and my bank completely returned the check because their account apparently still did not carry the sufficient funds to cover the check. I called Greystar Apartments and Mountainside Apartments again and now I am being given the run-around. Where is my money Mountainside/Greystar?!? I need a CASHIER’S CHECK this time. Your checks are no longer good to me. What kind of management that boasts having 60 offices all over the country and properties abroad BOUNCES A CHECK for $800??? So quick and unforgiving in raising rent uncontrollably during a time when us regular folks are being squeezed financially from all directions, yet is unable to issue a proper refund… yikes.

Greystar prides ourselves on customer service and although we didn’t anticipate an issue of this magnitude, we regret it happened and that you had a negative experience . So I walk into the office and none of the employees are wearing masks as they sit next to each other. One lady called us over... doesn’t put on her mask. Then we are told we must both have ids in order to tour... been on several dozen tours in my life and never needed more than one id. Lady says it a rule... we will have to come back again later. Not a chance. Already wasted 30 minutes driving here the 1st time. Make us follow a dumb ‘rule’ that is different from any other I’ve heard but then your employees can’t even wear a mask... pretty sure there are rules about that. Don’t waste your time. Go somewhere that wants your business.
The complex has nice views if you're in the back of the property. Hiking trails nearby are what kept me here another year. The maintenance staff has been great to work with. They are quick, competent, and friendly. The downside is the complete lack of communication from the management. We are currently on the third set of management in the 12 months I've been here. This team is the worst yet. You can call, send messages through the portal, personally go to the office.... doesn't matter. You won't get a response unless it benefits them. This has been true for everything from trying to get lease renewal information, parking information, and currently simply being able to pay my rent. They've recently removed all billing detail from the resident portal, so there is no way to find out what you are being charged for and the information is not provided when requested. The fees change every month as they calculate the complex wide water, gas, pest control, etc. so you never really know what you're going to be paying each month. Lease Renewal: Maybe this is how all large complexes operate, but it does not seem fair that they require 60 days notice to cancel the lease but do not provide renewal information until about 35 days out. You are then left with the choice of paying whatever rate they decide to charge you, or risk being automatically converted to a month-to-month rate at a RIDICULOUS rate. Parking is the last straw. I have to pay to park. And even with paying, my carport spot is 2 buildings away from where I live. If you choose not to pay to park you run the risk of having to park across the street in the shopping center. Frequently there is no free parking available, and if it is it is likely to be at the other end of the complex. My kids and friends dread coming to visit me here for that reason. The first year of my lease I had a garage. I may as well have had a carport as it was constantly broken into. This meant that not only was my vehicle not secure, but I couldn't keep anything else in their either and the garage remote won't work after a break in. During the holidays, this was a daily occurrence. So, if you have bikes, don't think you'll be able to safely store them in the garage. Oh, you also can't keep bikes on the patio or locked under stair structures. Plan on them becoming part of your decor. I'm currently wishing I hadn't renewed. I won't make the mistake again. I suggest you continue searching. There are better options out there.
I moved in a few months ago from out of state. It has been a disaster since day one. There is zero communication in the office and no one gets back to you about anything. They towed our car so we went to office after being assigned that spot to get it straightened out and one girl said they made a mistake it's rented to someone else MEANWHILE as we sat there another girl sent us the addendum to sign for the parking spot. Now they forgot to charge us rent for parking and charged us two months up front and the list goes on and on. It's a nightmare here. Do your research and listen to reviews!!!!!
This is absolutely ridiculous that I have to even write this review. Management does not work with you, customer service is garbage! The complex runs out of parking for paying tenets. Tenants can choose to pay for carport or parking garage parking, however there is a wait list. In the evening when there is no parking left, you have to park across the street at either the UFC gym or the grocery store. Crossing Ray Road at night is incredibly dangerous (a young man was killed only about a year back by doing so)! Additionally, there is a huge delay on maintenance. A safety concern of mine is that my peep hole is painted over and it’s been two weeks and no one has come by to fix it yet. To be honest, I miss the company that formerly owned this place. At least they cared more so about their tenants. I cannot wait until my lease is over!

Expect massive move out costs, they charge for basic wear and tear. They shut-off the water frequently. The blinds break constantly. The air broke and was left unfixed for a week.
This complex had the best customer service all weekend after searching through several properties. Staff was knowledgeable and pleasant to speak with.
Do not move here! Worst experience of our lives. •You WILL get a surprise BILL when you move out •$300 ELECTRIC BILLS! The AC’s are too old or too small to properly cool the units. •Bees are NOT of concern to management. A BEE HIVE moved in 8 feet in front of our door, management said it was only “a few bees” and we had to fight with them to have a professional come to remove the bees. The professional had to remove a HIVE from inside of the wall •Several times a week, every GARBAGE can in the complex was OVERFLOWING. There would be GARBAGE next to the dumpster because there was no room in it. Even on days when the garbage would be picked up, there was still garbage left on the ground around the dumpster. We would SMELL garbage everyday. We had to stop using the balcony because of the smell. Javalinas are attracted to the complex because of the garbage. Be prepared to be chased by Javelinas •The complex is NOT clean. The swimming pools are consistently being shut down for remodeling and the COUNTY also shut down the pool for IMPROPER FENCING AND CHEMICAL LEVELS. There are lights BURNT OUT throughout the complex. Be prepared to be INJURED! The stairs was excessively dark; I was unable to see in the dark and fell down the stairs, injuring my legs and ankles •There are stains and piles of BIRD DROPPINGS that were not cleaned up. TREE LIMBS would SNAP OFF and remain on the sidewalks or pet areas for several days before being removed •The unit they give you is NOTHING like the model; there are mismatched paint colors (on the same wall), DENTED appliances, blinds missing, MISSING cabinet trim and BROKEN cabinet drawers, BROKEN garbage disposal, blue candy embedded in the carpet, RIPPED flooring under the dryer, a hole patch job on the wall where the patch was sticking off of the wall, BROKEN sink faucet, the shower doors were crooked, BURNT OUT light bulbs, paint on the patio floor was PEELING, there are dog FECES that are not cleaned up and finally the front porch light was SMASHED up •The dryer vent caused a FIRE HAZARD that maintenance refused to properly fix. Maintenance typically has to come back 2-3 times for each issue because they do not fix it correctly or don’t have the tools to fix it the first time •Management doesn’t screen tenants well. The police were in the complex on different occasions because of tenants FIGHTING and crashing vehicles •Management sends THREATENING emails repeatedly
I love my Apartment first and foremost because it is an older structure, quaint with good bones, very spacious with Hollywood style. The community is very diversified with folks who care about their community. Beautiful, manicured grounds with a super large fireplace in the main guarded pool open 24 hours. A plus would be Frys supermarket across the street, incase you don't drive or have a car!
We have lived in this apartment for over a year now. The end of my pregnancy and now a beginning of a second pregnancy. Our management is very helpful until you have an issue more than once. We live on a corner where the sun hits our apartment directly and it makes our air conditioner run quite literally all night and day. This causes our power bill to be well over $300 for a one bedroom apartment. It gets up past 80 during the day and cannot keep up at night. It's very difficult to get them to even check the air conditioner to see if it's working properly when in fact it isn't. Some of the cabinetry is really nice but thrown in a little to fast as we have cabinet doors coming off the hinges. We have s door knob that has been pulled off twice with us and I'm a Betty spaghetti weak gal. Otherwise it's really nice here! I love the pool and the grassy areas. I really like the corner we live in because everyone kind of keeps to themselves so there is no issues with neighbor drama. Lots of kids play on the grassy knolls so it's cool to see them all meet from living here. We have community breakfasts every other Saturday and that to me is really nice. I go down with my little and can get breakfast once every other week and get s break making it myself. It's really easy to commute to anywhere because we have access to the interstate and highways. There is a store right across the street and just about 5 minutes up the road is target and little restaurants, basically anything you might need. It's really a nice place and it just has a few kinks to work out before it's amazing.
I've been living in a one bedroom for about 8 months now and have had very little problems. Pros: great location in awahutukee, next to hiking trails, beautiful pools, friendly office and maintenance staff, nice tall ceilings, safe area. Cons: HORRIBLE AC units that will cost you an arm and a leg, during the summer it takes at least a week for a maintenance request to go through, very loud road (so don't rent an apartment off facing the street), HORRIBLE parking (unless you want to pay for one of the many unused covered parking spots), TINY parking spots, multiple outlets that don't work, surge protector in the bathroom going off daily for no reason. Although my list of cons is kind of long, this really has been a nice place to live. I would recommend giving it a shot.
My apartment complex is very nice. They offer community breakfast once a month as well as special events for holidays and things of that nature. I have lived there for over a year and a half and have had no problems. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.
