Property Ratings at Mountainview Garden Apartments
The Management company operating this facility is awful. Not only were the rent increases unfair to faithful tenants that have lived there for years. The washers and dryers are not working properly in the buildings. The landscaping is neglected with weeds growing at the entrance. The sparkling pool is empty and has yet to open for the season. The list goes on. Move somewhere else. This company only cares about money. They treat the tenants terribly. Just ask anyone who's living there or has recently vacated.
Let me start by saying that I have lived in this complex for several years and I love my apartment. That said, we have a new management company that took over two years ago and since that time my rent has increased hundreds of dollars (this latest lease renewal raised me several hundred dollars and last years lease was the same). I called the office and was told they are bringing the apartments up to market value. The former management company made small and reasonable, incremental raises but these latest increases are clearly going to push long-term residents out. Additionally, we are now being forced to pay for cable service in our new leases with a specific provider and cannot decline despite having service already with an alternate carrier. As part of the rent increase, we are now also forced to pay an amenity fee. It’s sad really because the complex has never looked or felt worse. It took management over 8 months to complete a painting refresh of hallways and the job left paint all over hallway carpets, etc. It looks horrible. Management was made aware and nothing has been done to clean it up. The grounds look unkept and leaves and shrubs are not being tended to as in previous years. Winter is now upon us again and this will be the last year I will have to tolerate this new snow removal process. It is frustrating and horrendous. It is 4am and I am typing this now because I’m up listening to the loud beeping of the plow truck right outside my window. Mind you, there was only a dusting of snow last night. The former management company had set times to clear and plow parking lots but now we are forced to hear plow trucks all night long. My bedroom window faces the parking lot and I’ve had to call-out from work from lack of sleep on several nights because of these trucks. There is no consideration anymore for tenants. No response to complaints. No changes being made that reflect concerns. With my rent now reflecting almost the cost of a mortgage and the grounds and tenant consideration declining at record speed, I don’t anticipate being here for too much longer and I can tell you that the sentiment is echoed by many of my neighbors. Such a shame.
MountainView use to be a nice place to live , family owned and operated sense 1969. Buildings are old and make lots of noise’s but beside that always kept very nice. Then they sold the complex to Oak Tree Capital about 2 yrs ago and the demise began. They put a manager ( who also called herself the landlord) in charge of the complex . It started out it was all about a smooth transition from past owners to a investment company. No changes , etc . Well that all changed 1yr later . The manager started raising rents over 20% . Stating it was for the Amenities . Now mind you the washer and driers are like 15 yrs old , the pool was open maybe 3/4 Sat all last summer and the “gym” had 4 machines. They are forcing all the long term tenant's out so they can get more rent from new tenants. The hallways and carpet are disgusting in the buildings , 75% of decks on Apt are falling apart and the septic backs up in basements . The office and rental coordinator will tell new tenants it will be fixed , replaced etc to get them in the door . Then you wait years until your replaced. More people are moving out then in to MountainView for a reason . Please ask around before signing a lease .
I lived in Mountain View twice over the last 15 years and always on a positive note. The best place in Dutchess county to plant roots which I am looking to do. Very pleasant staff ,both in office and maintenance people. Looking forward to moving back
I love living here! I chose Mountainview primarily because the apartments are renovated and very clean. The office staff are very professional, and a pleasure to deal with! Great location too, very close to I-84 and shopping. Maintenance does a great job of keeping the grounds and with the snow removal. Anytime you have an issue, the staff are on it immediately, and Brian in maintenance is top notch! The pool in the summer is amazing, very clean and relaxing! Honestly I don't understand the negative reviews... simply pay your rent on time, follow the rules and regulations, and you will be absolutely fine. The staff will do their best to make sure you are happy! What else could you possibly ask for?
I just moved in recently but I absolutely love it here! The neighborhood is really cute and quite. My apartment is super cute and its really good for people starting up, just like I did. My only complaint would have to be that it can get a little noisy if you don't have considerate neighbors. Like my upstair neighbors are pretty loud. But besides that, I absolutely love living here.
