Known as the City of Destiny, Tacoma sits on Commencement Bay in the southern portion of Puget Sound. Just minutes from Seattle, Tacoma is the birthplace of internationally-acclaimed glass artist Dale Chihuly. His work is spotted throughout the city, especially the Chihuly Bridge of Glass at the Museum of Glass, a 500-foot-long pedestrian overpass linking the Museum of Glass to Downtown Tacoma. You can create your own work of blown glass at the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio.
In addition to its creative culture, Tacoma offers residents and visitors access to world-renowned museums, unique venues, and outdoor recreation. Explore the rotating exhibits at LeMay-America’s Car Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and Washington State History Museum. Grab a drink at Bob’s Java Jive or Dorky’s Bar Arcade before you head to a performance at Rialto Theater or the Tacoma Dome. Peruse the shops at Tacoma Mall and B & I Shopping Center. Take a hike, visit the zoo, and rent kayaks in Point Defiance Park.

Property Ratings at Napoleon Apartments
Avoid Napoleon Apartments. Received a $1000 bill after I moved out for replacing broken blinds (which were broken when I moved in) and dirty countertops. Definitely ruined my experience with them.
The controlled access doors malfunctioned our entire 7 month residency here, meaning we were locked out of our own apartment countless times and had to wait outside or in the parking garage for someone inside to (hopefully) notice and let us in. Even if we got locked out during business hours, the leasing office doesn't answer the phone, so we were stuck waiting regardless. We got frequent emails that the doors were being repaired to no avail. This is truly a safety issue that doesn't seem to be taken seriously. Management was practically unreachable; none of my phone calls were answered, emails were not responded to unless I followed up multiple times, and although they have "business hours", there were no staff members to be found in the leasing office or at the reception desk half the time. Construction behind the building caused unplanned power outages and makes the parking garage hard to access. Fire alarms malfunctioned and then were "fixed", except that the next night they malfunctioned again and we all had to evacuate at 2am for the second night in a row. Overall, our experience here was disappointing and frustrating, enough so that broke our lease early so we can live somewhere with a functioning front door.

We thank you for providing this feedback and apologize that you did not enjoy your residency at Napoleon Apartments. We take all feedback seriously and use this information to improve our process. We did have ongoing issues with the entrance door and it took quite some time to troubleshoot the issue. But the repairs have been completed and the door is working properly once again.
I wanted to love this apartment, but there are simply too many things to ignore. Aesthetically, the building is beautiful. I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviewer that spoke on the treatment of management. Although you will receive weekly emails about trash chutes not working, not being able to access the front door (very problematic, especially if you are coming home after dark and forced to walk in an alley to access the back door), the garage being broken, etc., they are not responsive to inquiries about issues that their staff has caused. I have been emailing for months about a bill I believe I was unfairly given, and nothing. Emails to request a breakdown of charges to prove the bill have gone ignored. Also, be prepared for an asinine increase in rent. The rent has increased 25% and I was notified of this increase 45 days before I would have to give a notice to vacate. I am positive they were aware of this increase before I received the notice, and I would have greatly appreciated a little more notice. A 25% rent increase is crazy as is, but especially in a place where you can't even access the front door. Save yourself the headache and move elsewhere. I have never left a review of an apartment complex, but this was just the most disappointing experience, ever.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, and while your review does hold some merit, some claims need further explanation. The trash chutes do break down on occasion but that is caused by resident’s adding too large of items that get stuck or too heavy of items that damage the hydraulics in the door. We have sent multiple emails and posted notices explaining the issue, however we cannot monitor each trash chute 24/7. We have also ordered a third trash dumpster to help alleviate this with an anticipated delivery later this month. The entry door has been an ongoing issue since the building opened, and we have had multiple technicians and electricians out to replace parts, rewire, and adjust power supply. We recently received approval from ownership to replace the entire door system and we just started the vendor interview process. From a resident standpoint it probably seems like we are slow to resolve, but I can assure you that we have explored all options to fix and we are truly sorry for this inconvenience. We set our rents based on the market and we are currently charging a comparable rate as other newer apartments in the downtown Tacoma area. Your lease renewal notice was provided a minimum of 60-days’ notice, as compliant with Washington Rental Laws. Please contact us to schedule an appointment to further address these concerns. Sincerely, Napoleon Apartments
TLDR; the worst manger team with rip off moveout cleaning charges ($500+) DONT LIVE HERE ???? I’d give the room itself 4/5 from how new it was, but gives 0 for the manager team. Other than those problems that their own staffs caused and took WEEKS to fix (such as broken frontdoor locks, trash chutes didn’t work, broken garage door), we also got ignored by the manger team to respond to various issues and especially when we moved out. I have never write a review for an apartment, but this is the WORST I’ve ever lived at. We were charged $500+ ??cleaning fees from the deposit for a very lightly used room for about a year. These ripped off managers were especially great at ignoring your emails (4 emails) to explain what those deductions were for, but can only can respond with the bank account to transfer money to. Very rude and disrespectful. I’d give 0 star if I could. Please don’t fall to the trap of the look of welcoming mangers like us, it’s a lie. Summerfield Management has not trained their employees so well apparently. FIND A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE OVERCHARGED FOR CLEANING FEES.

And as per the lease agreement you signed, it is our discretion to hire professional cleaners if the apartment wasn’t left in a condition we believed suitable for new residents.
