Property Ratings at Stony Brook
Was told 30 minutes before our movers arrived that our apartment was not move-in ready, it was not painted, there was damage to the kitchen ceiling, and a hole through a door. We showed up to view the apartment before signing the lease and we were shown a unit that had an unfinished basement with no electrical outlets, which is not what was described. We had to find another apartment complex who had availability same day. We were told we would receive our security deposit back in the mail, but when we received it 2 weeks later it was short $1,000. I had to call the office consistently for the next two weeks in order to get a definitive answer on where my money was and when we would be receiving it, there was almost never anyone at the office and the excuse I was given was that they were undergoing management changes, but from looking at the prior reviews that has been going on for at least two years. Save your time, effort, and sanity by skipping this complex or any under Goldmark property management.
Property Manager at Stony Brook, Responded To This Review

We acknowledge the communication lapses and discrepancies in the property's condition, leading to your decision not to sign the lease. Your experience does not reflect our standard of service, and we appreciate your patience as we work to enhance our operations. If there are further issues or additional feedback, please feel free to reach out to our office directly.
Price per sq foot is nice. Maintenance guys are very friendly. My unit is falling apart however.
Stony Brook has provided great care and services to my family for the past couple years and as we remain residents, I would like to extend my appreciation towards management and maintenance for communicating with me in a timely manner and with excellent customer service. Stony Brook remains very underrated when it comes to the care they provide its residents. Thank you
Love the layout of the property and it’s in a great location. Also the property management has been very helpful when needed
Nice convenient place to live, with a friendly environment. Walk to a football game, Hy-vee, emergency care or a dentist, Its like a little village.
Living here at Stony Brook Apartment for the past three years has been very enjoyable. The neighbors are very nice and always watch your back. The kitchens could be updated as well as the garages.
Buildings are in need of serious renovations, and the lack of staffing on site results in lots of frustrations & inconveniences to the residents.
Worst place to rent from. Horrible regional managers. Revolving door staff
the property has really gone down hill since there is no longer mgmt on site
The location is good. Needs to be updated to reflect the price.
As the property details states on apartments.com, all the units were built in 1973. Nothing has been renewed or renovated since. The interior of the units have been getting the "Landlord special" after each tenant, creating a nice thick layer of white paint over nearly everything and paint splatter over doors and molding. The pipes clog very easily, the electrical systems are corroded, all the doors and windows have drafts, and the floors are so thin that even a cat walking across the floor makes them creak. No one is allowed on the balconies that they townhomes have because of structural integrity issues... let alone the pest problems and getting ahold of anyone is a nightmare.
We had a few hiccups with our move in but Jennifer really made sure that we got it all sorted out and made sure we were happy with our unit and that she answered any questions we had. I have honestly never had better management when it comes to sorting out issues and getting things taken care of. She really made sure we were happy and did what she could to make sure the rest of our move in went smooth and she took care of everything! She is so kind and so helpful and honestly how every property manager should be! I can’t say enough great things about her and Ryan, the maintenance guy. I would highly recommend Stony Brook! It really is a great home and we are so happy to be able to live in such a great community!
You get what you pay for. One of the last reasonably priced places in a good neighborhood in Omaha. Dont expect stellar service. If thats what you want go to a higher end property
Average apartment complex. Love that they have several unique floor plans.
Don't rent here! They towed my car without telling me they changed their permit parking! Then refused to refund the money calling it a 'LEARNING OPPORTUNITY!!!!' They have absolutely no communication here and then wonder why you get frustrated dealing with them!!!
This place should be given a Zero ! They don't put up proper signs to where you can or can't park. They have a tow truck driver come in the middle of the night and tow your car. Then they charge you 200 bucks to do so. There is no mgmt. You call and call and only get machines. The maintenance is crap. Go down the street much better options for the same or less money
I would not recommend this place to anyone. Parking is terrible, maintenance is terrible, my shingles have been falling off onto my outdoor things the entire time I've lived here. Wasps are always an issue, wood is rotting, grilling privileges have been removed and yet you want to continue to raise rent.
Horrible maintenance. They up the rent but dont do any upgrades will be here a year in December I work nights and have yet seen pest control come out. Crickets come in my townhome through the garage and basement. Its amazing. Mold growing no problem they have paint or spray paint to get ride of that until it pops up again through that. Smh. This place is a complete joke.
Great place. Friendly staff. Nice neighbors. Perfect location.
I moved in January 13th so far everything has been wonderful i have no complaints! If you are looking for a quiet laid back community Stony Brook is for you ! If your looking for updated luxury living keep looking, However stony brook does the job for us !
Its been ok, there's room for improvement. Mostly in the parking and general grounds keeping of the place. And there are a lot of kids running into the street but otherwise the people are either friendly or mind their own business and nothing had broken down very often.
Stony Brook is a lovely complex with very spacious apartments and townhomes. The leasing and move-in processes were quick and easy and I can say I am happy in my new home!
It gets the job done. The place is beautiful and if you dont care about minor inconveniences then it is perfect
Everyone is so welcoming
We pay way too much for the amenities we are provided. Most problems weve had to deal with ourselves (water bugs in particular) and up until Alberto was gored we were fixing stuff in our apartment because no one ever came. The parking is a joke. We have to pay to get our carpets cleaned when we move out, something I have NEVER experienced as someone who has been renting apartments for the past 6 almost 7 years. Its ridiculous. I would NOT recommend these apartments to anyone. The only good person is Alberto the maintenance man. I hope he is being paid and treated well.
I am not impressed so I do not think you want to ask me. We are paying for a fireplace we could never use and a playground that was never put in and a pool that may open August 21 and was seldom open last year. We paid this rent to have a pool, a playground, a fireplace and we didnt get any of those things and still had to pay high rent.
I have lived here over 12 yrs. The look of the property has gone down hill because of the quality of resident and dogs
My experience was friendly and professional. All of my questions were answered and the staff took lots of time to explain to me all of my options. It was one of the easier rental experieces I've had.
I had a terrible start with management at this community but they have since turned it around. The leasing agent, Alexis I believe, is a total sweetheart and the complex manager always returns my calls within 24 hours. I do wish they had a playground but we are in an area surrounded by parks so no big deal. My kids love the large grassy areas and the townhouse is spacious! Three bedroom Floorplan is a little odd but it fits our family and is close to the schools!
They are good. Pool needs to be maintained better. Grounds need to be maintained better. All buildings have mold, and you know it!!!
The property is no longer maintained reasonably, and there are no more amenities. There are too many "group living residents", where too often, the children are unsupervised and wondering, causing chaos amongst other residents. No longer a nice community to live with children!
Location is great but is lacking a playground for kids
Very nice and affordable complex. The staff is great!
Parking is just really difficult for visitors and I wish there was about 10 more spots
Nilda is great to work with. She made the move in procedure a breeze. I have a good layout that works well for my family. It has a reasonable value for the area and is in excellent location for schools, grocery stores and
Great place to live!!!
Great location!
I get along great with all surrounding neighbors
Very satisfied with the experience of moving here
I feel like I am a very good Tenant. I pay my rent on time except for once which happens such as life. I really do treat this place like my own I take very good care of it and keeping it clean.I just cant help but feeling very replaceable any time I talk to anyone in the office. Which I know everyone is replaceable but when you have a good Tenant you should not make them feel that way. There is plenty of other options for me to move to. I know its easier to keep a good tenant then to have the possibility of replacing them with a bad one. Thanks
We love it here. Very spacious and Nilda in the office is very sweet and professional. Ive already recommended this place to others!
Amazing response to my maintenance requests. Good communication. Nilda is wonderful. Maintenance guy is professional.
This apartment community has been one of the better that I have been a tenant at. The staff is excellent and very willing to work with your individual needs to make sure you are receiving the best experience possible while staying in the community.
Ive lived in Stony Brook for 13 years, I've raised my kids here. It is a nice, safe community and the size of the units for the money is outstanding
Nilda was the deal breaker. We had looked at cheaper apartments that were smaller and we were hesitate on looking at Stony Brook. The moment we met Nilda, we knew we were home. We absolutely love the apartment, the location and Nilda. We plan on staying here for a long time!
