I was new to Texas and this was the first place I moved into. Never experienced pest issues, roaches were in every part of the units; the refrigerator, crawling on us everyday, they ended up in my car and I opened my bag and ended up taking some to work, in the smoke alarm and they could not get rid of them because they won't seal the areas where they are coming in. The floors have mold in certain areas in the units. I only stayed one year and the property was sold 3 times! Many of the tenants were not quality people. The pool is never open at reasonable times for use and it was peeling and nasty to get in. The added costs for laundry is not worth it, when there are properties that include laundry facilities in the unit and you end up paying less. I ended paying so much in medical fees because of the infections my child got from the infestation. This is the nastiest, dirtiest, place I have ever experienced and it needs to be burned down. LIVE HERE AT YOUR OWN RISKS!!!!!!!

Management is good and responsive. I just wish I had a garage, but for some reason, the garages are under audit and I guess they are trying to sort it all out. My neighbor has two garages and I am sure he should only have one. I also wish I had access to the gym. It has been closed for a while. These are amenities that are nice to have. For a large apartment complex, it is really quiet.
They have a tyrannical parking arrangement with a 3rd party. They tow you even if you’re a tenant or a registered guest. They respond with a “tough luck” attitude. Management is terrible. Better off living elsewhere.
If you are looking for a sign to KEEP SEARCHING please allow this to be that. I have been living here for almost 3 years. Started in a 1st floor unit that completely FLOODED out in February of 2019.. water to my ankles. They relocated me in the unit above where my brand new car was TOWED. $300 to get it out I reached out to the office and they never responded smh. My car was then vandalized $3,000 to repair. Of course no cameras …. My A/C went out for an entire week MID SUMMER. They claimed they replaced my compressor but never truly did. They just put a bandaid on it. How do I know? Because my A/C IS NOW OUT AGAIN just 3 weeks later. Please do not move into these apartments. The from office barley answers the phone they take 2 hour lunches and it’s all a mess so please save your time! I wish I would’ve saved mine. NOT RESIGNING A LEASE!!!!!!
Coming from hospitality and always caring for ppl in the medical field, I am very understanding and have a lot of patience. I don’t do a lot of reviews unless I seriously have a problem. I do however feel that you should be aware of some complaints prior to signing a contract to reside here. There have been multiple occasions where not only I have called the office but also other tenants who call and get nothing but the answering machine where vm are not returned or concerns being addressed. Renters insurance policy or company have switched now 3x to where tenants previously uploaded docs are then removed, and if new docs are not uploaded within time, you are charged a $12 fee EVEN if you’ve had the proper documents submitted per their instructions. Trash guidelines are not followed by tenants even after multiple complaints. There are areas where trash is being disposed nor addressed by the management which causes the apartments to look trashy, smell and accrue an increase of bugs. You are paying $25 trash valet service which is suppose to pick up trash at your door. Trash is left in non-designated areas and is not addressed by the management NOR ENFORCED. They do not walk the property or maintain any property up keeping except scheduled lawn care. With the previous management you at least saw someone on a daily basis picking up trash around the property, calls being answered and concerns being addressed. The gym access is ONLY during office hours. If you work an 8-5/9-6 job, your free gym amenity does not apply to you bc office is closed. Office hours are not consistent with an exception to holidays. Maintenance does not get cared for within a reasonable timeframe. They do however mark it as complete if they come to your apartment without fixing the issue which means they won’t come back to fix the issue until months later which then turns into you never having it fixed. My advice to possible future tenants is to look elsewhere. I understand maintenance being short staffed but also admin office staff is just not professionally communicative. One more thing, you will see fees in your account that are never labeled. It will only state the month and “fee” but it’s not detailed. For ex: “July fee $15”, “July fee $3” but it is not explained as to what fee it is you’re paying for.
i was so excited to move here and had every intention to be here for a while when first moving in. sure i had issues with my apartment from the jump but maintenance took care of it. they were on top of it. til the new management took over and it changed from westchester of norstar to the tides on westchester. new management is just horrible. i have maintenance request that have been opened since 2 months ago. i have called them and gone in office and they still haven’t fixed it. the pool was remodeled but still closed. i have mold and cracks in my bathtub and they don’t care to fix it. worst experience ever. do yourself a favor and don’t move here.
This place is a huge disappointment. My wife and I have lived here for a year and a half and have been ripped off, penalized for random things, and without the basic necessities countless times. Not only have we dealt with an insane amount of roaches, we have also been without heat mid winter for weeks and without air mid summer for almost 2 months. The security gate is a joke. All of them are broken almost constantly. More than anything it’s a hassle, in no way secure or safe. The trash services are hit or miss. Who knows if they will pick them up or not? Not me. The website to pay rent is garbage. It regularly glitches and either charges you for an incomplete payment or you receive a charge for late rent because it told you it went through but didn’t really. The front office is NEVER open. I mean it. They are never there. They take super long lunch breaks, close early, or are randomly gone for no reason. The amenities are never available but rest assured, you will pay for them anyway. Pool? Nope sorry. It was closed for 11 months straight for “maintenance.” Exercise room? Hardly. There are 4 machines total and most of them shut off if you use them any more than just a light amount of effort. They have also “lost” maintenance requests and filed paperwork where we have communicated with them and they haven’t followed through with issues. Maintenance requests take forever to be filled, if at all. To be clear, the maintenance staff is extremely nice and they do well. The front office staff is also nice, just extremely difficult to contact or get ANYTHING done. They make you sign a waiver when you lease with them that you won’t sue them. This makes perfect sense now. When our lease term was up they were supposed to alert us no later than 5 days before our 60 day move-out notice would be due per the lease. They contacted us 12 hours before it would be due. We have placed maintenance requests months ago that never got fixed. This is the norm and if you move here, expect it to be you.
I have been a resident here for 8.5 years and recently down sized from a large 3 bedroom to 1 bedroom apt just around the corner. I had personal and family issues that required rescheduling the move a number of times. Cori, the asst manager and all staff made this major life transition much easier than expected. They have gone above and beyond to meet my new physical changes with sometimes bringing things to me instead of making me and my walker make an extra trip. When I have read the bad reviews I can honestly say that what few problems I've experienced have been handled promptly and professionally. I've always appreciated the proximity of the location to highway exchanges shopping and services but even more so as a retiree. If you're looking for safe, quality housing this is the place.
I just recently downsized from the huge 3 bed 2 bath I've called home for the past 8.5 years. Retired and older, it was time for a major downsize. Great support from Cori and other staff in making a very difficult transition as easy as possible. It's the little extras that make the difference in caring. The area is safe we’re close to everything including auto repair and post office across the street. They have made numerous accommodations to assist me with handicapped access both in and out of the resident. I would highly recommend this complex to anyone looking for safe quality housing. This is real not paid staff. I look forward to spending my next years here at Norstar.
I have lived here for 1 year and recently renewed my lease. My sister has been here roughly 5 years. I was worried about moving into an apartment because I have had horror stories in the past. I have no complaints about Westchester. The office staff is friendly and are always able to answer our questions. Maintenance requests are handled in a timely manner. There has only been one time I've had to call for follow up, and they sent a person out that day. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone is friendly. When I had a complaint about a neighbor, I believe the office handled it appropriately as I have not had any other problems. There have been a few hiccups here and there (I.e. the carpet had not yet been replaced on our move in date but was replaced the next day) but otherwise has been an easily place to live. It's also conveniently located off of I-20 and close to lots of stores and restaurants.
Well currently I’m disappointed as for the past month we are facing terrible issues of bed bugs. I complained to the management on Monday and they scheduled pest control on other Monday. My wife got bits and reaction all over her body. We spent $300 on her two visits to the doc and Westchester Management DO NOT CARE. We had to move to my friends house in Irving for a week and Management DO NOT CARE. They did not allowed us to hire any other bed bug professional on our expense because they have a contract. So basically, we had to wait till their pest control come and suffer. It has been three weeks now and I still see bed bugs in the house. We did all they asked. bed bugs bed cover, threw all my furniture, from three weeks all my clothes are washed dried and kept in big trash bag so nothing gets infected. I don’t know what kind of pet control the management is using. I have been living here since past 4 years and we are hurt and disappointed by this incident. By paying our monthly rent on time and being active residents, we expected more form you. There are bunch of other complaints regarding pool, maintenance, water leak, old cabinate and appliance etc. which I never gave importance before. But for people who are looking forward to rent house here, I would now not recommend this community. If the management do not understand your sincere problems, do not expect any other amenities. Pool is pretty much closed year long, no air circulation or A/c at fitness center after 5pm (from last three years experience).
I’ve lived here for almost 2 years and it was okay when i first moved here but then management changed and things started changing without any communication to the tenants. Parking is horrible. I pay rent here every month and a lot of times i come home from work and i don’t have anywhere to park. The trash service is inconsistent and the dumpsters are always overflowing which makes the community look unpleasant. The new office staff is the absolute WORST! Zero customer service. Oh and It’s takes months for anything to get fixed after you have requested something to be repaired.
I live in the new units at Westchester and don't really have any complaints. It's a clean and quiet complex. The biggest downside is parking, there just isn't enough. If you try to park near your apartment after 6:00 pm you are out of luck. Other than that I have no issues with the staff or the apartment.
