Property Ratings at New England Lane
We moved in not quite a year ago because we were in a pinch and we have regretted every day. The ad says this place is a quiet gem in sylvania. Nothing is further from the truth. Kids are partying all the time in the parking lot drinking and doing pot so you can't have your windows open. Music blasting all the time. We have to watch out for dog waste every where. We have called the office several times and they promise they will do something and they never do. This place is a dump. It is like section eight housing. We can't wait to get out of here. We've been trying to find the owner to tell them what we have been going through but they are probably living in a mansion in florida. They are like management here and don't care about the people who live here. We recommend you find some place else to live. Thoroughly sickened and disgusted.
Beautiful & peaceful place to call home! My husband & I love living here. The property mgmt. Chris & Veronica are so friendly, helpful, amazing with answering any questions & getting taken care of anything that might arise that needs service. Also, perfectly located to all the best Sylvania has to offer.
The property has been better managed with the new manager, but the office staff is poor. It is very difficult to get anything fixed around here. Washer/Dryer units NEVER seem to work right. EATS UP QUARTERS BAD... Management tried to stay on top of things, but CORPORATE limits ability to fix things. Very frustrating... UGH
I loved living here when I was there. Clean, and well maintained..People were nice..The office staff was helpful. I bought a house, and that is why I left. If I ever sell, I would really want to come back..I thought Veronica was very helpful..I wish she was the manager. She lives onsite, and kept everything in order. She was a Godsend. Very nice..If you are looking for a nice place to live, close to everything..You should live here.
I lived in New England Lane Apartments with my husband for almost 3 years and LOVED it! The location is PERFECT! We rode our bikes to almost everything. Downtown Sylvania was our favorite spot. We went to breakfast at Chandlers, coffee at the cutest cafe 'Chandlers' and got my hair done at Reve Salon or visit the library. Olander Park is also really close, we would ride our bikes there or lay out at the beach. You can also hop on the Wildwood Bike trail and ride almost anywhere. The maintenance men were AWESOME! Being home alone when they came, I always felt comfortable. They were great, friendly and made sure everything I needed was taken care of. Every time I had called in the three years I was there, they came that same day! It was great knowing that we were taken care of and worth just a phone call our place would be good as new! The office- From day one everyone in the office was FABULOUS! They made us feel like we were important and not just another tenant. Any time we needed something they were more than willing to accommodate our needs and make sure that we were taken care of! When moving in, they made sure everything was clean and updated (we lived in two different apartments - we started on the second floor and moved to lower to get an adorable patio to relax on)! Each time we had a clean place to move into. Anna is simply the BEST - she is professional and takes care of business! She is easy to talk to and ensures that your experience is a good one. We appreciated her help so much and we're so blessed to have her taking care of us from the beginning. The apartments are located in such a cute neighborhood and have the feeling of home. We move out of state - but if we ever had to move back... I know exactly where we'd go! Thanks New England Lane for making are three years with you PERFECT!
We lived in New England Lane Apartments for a year. When we moved in, everything was fine. Our apartment was clean, managements and maintenance were friendly, and we NEVER had a problem with our neighbors. However, the longer we lived there, the more issues that arose, the more neglected we felt, and the more aware it became that we were simply income and that management/owners didn't care that it was our home and not just profit for them. In the summer, the pool stays fairly clean. It is usually overcrowded, there are not enough lawn chairs/loungers for residents and the pool passes are not utilized. There were frequent visitors from nearby apartments and teenage friends of renters utilizing the pool when the tenants were not there. If you have greenery in front of your apartment, it is not maintained. I spent much of my time watering and caring for the plants in front of my apartment so that they did not overgrow. We had two issues with plumbing in our apartment. One that involved a backed up sewage line which left us without a running toilet and water. We had to stay in a hotel for three days because I was pregnant at the time and should not have had to stay in an apartment where we could not flush the toilet or utilize the shower. Only one night stay at the hotel was covered by the apartment complex after much back and forth and we were not granted any relief from our rent that month on top of spending $400 for a hotel. Our apartment also never smelled clean after that incident. Also, while maintenance was working in our apartment as we were not home, the previous tenant was given access to our apartment by the contracted painters. When the sewage backed up, we were out of town, and the contractors had the spare key the office should have had to our apartment. Therefore, the apartment maintenance crew didn't have access into our apartment until the following day. Parking was the WORST of all. If you arrived home after 8PM any night of the week, you would have to park clear down at the other end of the apartment because the parking lots are too small. Parking passes are given but not enforced. Seems as if management picked and choose which tenants they were enforcing and following through guidelines with. We also had items stolen out of the back of my boyfriends truck while living there. Best thing about this apartment was that it gave us the motivation to finally purchase a home and end our renting days. We are so much happier.
I recently moved to New England Lane Apartments and I am very happy. The manager and the staff were very friendly and helpful in finding the perfect place for me. The apartment is in excellent shape and the grounds are very well maintained. I have met a few of my neighbors, some of which have lived there for over 10 years, and they are very nice people. It is quite a relief for me to have found a place to live and feel comfortable, not just with the surroundings but with my neighbors and the staff. I don't feel like I have a new apartment but rather I have found a home. Thank you to the New England Lane Manager and a Great Staff.
Advice I have for you while you are apartment hunting at New England Lane - LOOK around. Don't just stick to the section the manager shows you. I mean really take the time to look and you will notice: - dirty doors and hallways - old (and pretty disgusting) laundry facilities - hedges that appear to have never been trimmed and weeds - overflowing dumpsters - pet stations that are frequently empty of bags and/or overflowing with waste - a large and potentially hazardous pothole in one of the drives - sidewalks that go without the snow being removed Noise - Very thin / non-insulated walls. In the one bedroom, you will be sharing a wall with your neighbor. If they have a loud tv, stereo, fan, etc you will hear it. You can also hear the neighbors above/below you very easily. There is a shared entrance with doorways separating the front and back of the building. If there are kids in the building (which there are sure to be), expect to hear these doors slam open and shut multiple times per day. I counted one day - I heard the doors slam 20 times in an hour. Picture a constantly slamming door...now tell me if that sounds like a great place to live? Management for me is where the property takes the biggest hit for me. Other reviewers have said that they are unprofessional, immature, petty, and spiteful. That too was my impression. I tried nicely at first to approach them about a basic maintenance issue and it was clear from the get-go that they were not going to be kind or helpful when it came to any requests. They are only nice when you are a potential new renter. If you ask them for property maintenance or for the lease/rules to be upheld, you will find you are fighting a losing battle. I ended up having to escrow my rent after waitng for over 6 months (half of my lease) for them to resolve an issue. Bottom line...I would give it an overall negative score if I could.
This review is posted in good grace. I have experienced apt living at New England and was totally satisfied with most of my experience there. Their maintenance dept is friendly and always quick to respond to needs. The pool is beautifully maintained. There has recently been a change in management. I regret I have not yet had the opportunity to meet her but I was happy with the first implemented change that I noticed and that was the addition of dog waste receptacles! The grounds are also beautifully maintained:) I would totally recommend this apt complex to anyone searching!
I previous have lived in these apartments with my mom + 4 of us kids! We had a 3 bedroom 2 bath. The rooms are perfect size, the area is safe, close to krogers/meijers/walkable distance to schools, etc. Loved the pool!! The management was always prompt with any problems we had and I'm happy to say I am now moving in these apartments! Affordable and much better than apartments near UT I looked at.
This place does not care about their tenants. In a snow storm my car got stuck in THEIR parking lot because it had not been plowed yet, and when I called to get help they would not help me AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Told me I was on my own. I would NOT recommend this place. It's also very noisy due to thin walls. Pool is dirty, too, and it says the pool is heated, but it's not.
