Property Ratings at Newington Tower
Management couldn’t address the roach issue over 6 weeks. Terrible…stay away
Roaches. Upon trying to move in, we found roaches in bathroom and kitchen. Over a month and management wasn’t able to address successfully. Finally broke the lease. Management was not cooperative. Live and learn
I recently moved out of Newington Towers after two years of living there. I left because I graduated and had to move away for work. However, the leasing/office staff/ was always very nice and made my roommate, and I feel welcomed. Laundry on every floor was a huge plus for us. We loved the prime location, and the building had a good mix of diverse people, which I loved. The maintenance staff was always quick to respond and very helpful and polite whenever they came by. If you are looking to get a good bang for your buck, I highly suggest this place!
I lived here for over 5 years and watched it grow into the great apartment complex that it is. When I first moved in there was a lot more college kids focused on partying and as management changed that became less and less and they focused more on young adults and family and really cared about the appearance of the building. Pricing is very reasonable especially when you compare the same size, number of room and bathrooms, and amenities to surrounding towns like West Hartford. It is very close to CCSU, the Fast Track bus line, Stop n Shop, various restaurants, and the highway. There is a decent sized gym, a nice rec room, a play area in the back parking lot for children, gated parking in the back. Staff was very helpful and super friendly and if I ever had to move back to New Britain I would come back here in a heartbeat.
The location is perfect, right on the border of newington and not far from the Berlin Tpk. Grocery store is 5 minutes down the road as well as many bars and restaurants. The apartments receive a lot of natural light and have very spacious rooms (our king fits perfectly). The facility is clean and well kept. With the recent spike in vehicle break ins, the gated parking lot is great peace of mind. Laundry and trash chute on every floor is super convenient as well as having the elevator system. Tenants are very friendly and so are the staff. I adore our maintenance crew who always fix everything in a timely manner. We are very excited to have found this little jewel for the amount of rent we pay.
The management at Newington Tower went above and beyond while showing us apartments in their building. Their building is clean, office is great, and apartments are great as well. The apartments are very good size that can fit two king bed sets in the 2 bedroom apartment. Corridors/Hallways, Laundry facilities, lifts, doors, windows, are all clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend others to rent here as the management has really stepped up their game to create a family safe environment. My interaction with the management especially Katie made the process very smooth, easy, and highly professional. 5 Stars for living space, affordability, and management!
I haven’t even moved in yet and the management has already been amazing. Me and my two roommates took a tour, the management, tour guide, and overall energy of the place was beyond welcoming. The amenities that are included makes this place super affordable. The rooms are beautiful and all have a bathroom per room (2 bedrooms have 2 bathrooms inside each room) - super excited for that. The demographics of the building are very diverse. If you have questions they get back to you super fast. I’m so excited to move in because I already feel a bond with the workers & the safety level of the building makes me feel secure!
A lot has changed in the the past two years. Management has been great and seems to really care and get to know about their tenants; they're also very responsive if you have an issue. A lot of the college kids from CCSU were not welcomed back a few years ago and it appears the ones who I have met have been properly vetted through because they're not loud or obnoxious. They don't treat the place like the dorm room. Otherwise it's quiet, gated parking is nice and it's close to everything.

I am new to the area and will be moving towards the end of February. Found the property by doing research online. From my first encounter with the Resident Manager, Veronica -- I was impressed. Her professionalism, attention to detail, her knowledge of information, and her honesty and thoroughness meant a lot. I am going to be commuting between the area and my home of Chicago weekly and needed to feel that this can be my home away from home. Once I felt comfortable, Veronica made it very easy for me to submit all paper-work over email and be approved within 24 hours. I then booked a flight to come and look at the property. Upon arrival, I was even more impressed. Vanessa delivered on everything and more. Thank you. I was surprised to see a model unit on the 1st floor. Hey, I wanted that apartment!!!! I am excited to join the community. Thank you Veronica. I apartment is well done with the finishes, the layout with bathrooms, and the overall feel. Nicely done with the renovations. I will say that some of the public doors to laundry rooms and trash rooms need repainting as they are looking pretty beat up. Other than that, well done! Stay tuned for another submission once I join the community.
I moved in on September 1, 2017 and I have to say that for me its been paradise since day 1. My neighbors are wonderful, laundry room clean gym is clean and the media room is beautiful. The most important the staffs are remarkable. Nothing I've experienced ever in my life since I came to Newington Towers. I am always greeted and they have goodies for me and my neighbors in the office. I came from a real bad area in Hartford where it was nasty and this property is no where near that you will be happy here.
Party music on every weekend during whole night! Lots of maintenance issues, but no one really take care about them.
1. False fire alarm at very cold day, taking me 40min at outside, twice in this winter 2. loud music from neighbors, parking lot, and street even at 2am - 3am 3. Water leak every other 6months, molds spreads, no one apologize So stressful to live this very noisy and old apt, and staffs are not kind. Looking for new home to move out, and never recommend the place
I've lived hear for a little less than a year and have got so say the Veronica, Kate, and Susan are a rockstar team! Anytime there's something I need, they are super friendly and are genuinely happy to help. I never have any issues with noise which is big for me as an apartment dweller. The maintenance staff is very friendly as well and prompt to take care of any issues that arise. They have done many upgrades to the gym, laundry and they are adding a media room soon. It's a really convenient location! in all I would definetly recommend living here!
I lived here for a year and a few months now. I just had to renew my lease because the new management staff in the front office and maintenance crew are absolutely amazing. Whenever I have an issue which is barely any because the building is well kept or a question they are quick to respond to them ASAP. They are so friendly and helpful. The property has a safely gated parking lot which is one of the most important things to me to have when I started looking for an apartment. New updated laundry machines on every floor which is a plus. Also a nicely renovated gym. With all the new renovations going on in and around the building things seems to only be getting better here. I would highly recommend living here.
The staff in the front office as well as the maintenance crew are more than accommodating. Any questions or concerns I have are handled in a professional and expedient manner. Whenever I walk into the front office and the staff are busy with other residents or future residents, they acknowledge me and tell me they will be right with me. They always have a positive attitude and a smile on their face. They go out of their way to make sure I'm comfortable and happy living here. I've only had two issues in the apartment. Within a hour, a member of the maintenance crew was at my door and fixed the issue. Asking if there was anything else they could do while they were there. The entire staff makes Newington Towers a nice place to live. I would recommend living here to anyone that asks me. The kindness and positive feeling I get from all of the staff members puts a smile on my face everyday.
An Inviting, secure, warm and welcoming living environment. Community full of diversity from families, to students, to career focused individuals, and adults with special needs. Office personnel and building services staff extremely helpful and accommodating. For example everyone looks after my 80 year old mom making sure that she gets on the bus for daycare and that any services she receives get to her apartment with minimal disruption to their day. She loves it there. Friendly, knowledgeable and flexible personnel with a genuine caring approach. One of the best places I have ever lived in. Would recommend Newington Tower to anyone looking for a great place to live without hesitation. Most grateful for their ongoing support and hospitality.......Marisol Aponte.
I have lived at Newington Tower for almost a year now and have experienced different things in the time I have been here. We are actually on our third manager sine I have been here and this one if GREAT compared to the others. The new manager is putting out refreshments, decorating the front and there are flowers in the office now. It reminds me of a much larger complex I lived in (and paid a lot more rent for) before I moved here. When my complaints are called in, they are addressed immediately or seem to be. I complained about a noisy neighbor having a party and the office sent a letter and the neighbors have been very quiet since. I also had a neighbor of mine complain about my smoking, that they could smell it in the hall and when the office notified me, they even provided me with a draft blocker that goes inside my apartment at the door so smoke cannot get in the hallway. Seems to me that they go above and beyond to make us happy. I am really only writing this review because I read the one about the recent staff and can't stay quiet, the last 2 managers were not very nice at all and this new group is always smiling and really trying to make everyone happy. I don't see how they could stop complaints about the fastrak system near them or make everyone happy all of the time. I think this may be someone who moved out and got charged for something and are now just making waves. I live here and am more than comfortable and am NOT a college student.
WE ENJOY OUR COMMUNITY ITS SAFE AND SECURE FOR OUR CHILDREN THEY ARE ABLE TO PLAY OUTSIDE RIDE THERE BIKES, PLAY BASKETBALL, ITS A GATED ENTRY, 2 BD 2 BATH, AMPLE SPACE, FRIENDLY PLEASANT PROPERTY MANAGER, AND MAINTENANCE, EASY ACCESS TO BUS ROUTE AND HIGHWAY ROUTES 91 & 84.
MOVED IN AND LOVING IT!! THE BUILDING IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND THE OFFICE STAFF IS GREAT!!! ? THE BUILDING IS BEAUTIFUL. GYM IN BUILDING SAVES SO MUCH MONEY AND THE APARTMENTS ARE SO SPACIOUS. LAUNDRY ROOM ON EACH FLOOR WHICH IS CONVENIENT ALONG WITH A TRASH CHUTE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE IN THE DUMPSTER, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER. I LOVE IT HERE !
When we signed the lease, my roommate and I were ecstatic. We had heard so many good things about the building, it's staff, and the amenities. The first few months were alright, we were still excited settling in. We would take the elevator to the 7th floor to get sodas in the laundry room and we were always trying to check out the roof deck which was ALWAYS locked! When I emailed them about it they told me they had a wasp issue that they were "letting pass" but instead of letting us know with an email or even a note on the door, they just kept the doors locked. We were on the first floor and every single Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night there was constant partying until almost 4am. And being on the first floor we heard everything that went on and every person who walked by. Being right next to the Fast Track, people would take the buses to the bars and then come home screaming and "Wooing" the entire night. We had sent in complaints to the management and as far as we knew, they did nothing and the parties continued. It was obvious that they were college students because during the holiday breaks and the summer there was SILENCE. This was the beginning. As we were settling in we realized just how DIRTY the apartment was when we moved in. They told us there was a company that came in and cleaned them but there was so much cleaning that WE did that they could've done! When we left, we cleaned the apartment 500 times better than they had when we came. Towards the end of our lease about a month ago, we realized just how bad this place was. The parties started again, the leasing office had new staff that was so rude and did not care about anything we said to the point where I avoided talking to them. In the whole move out process, they were so inconsistent about the inspection process it made us so confused. At one point they said we will know how much of our deposit we would get back right then and there, another point we understood that they would do a full inspection in front of us, and then when they actually did the inspection it was one of the leasing agents just taking pictures on her cell phone and then taking our keys. It was just so unbelievably unorganized. Over all my experience was just not pleasant there. the maintenance staff was very nice, and the most recent "Night Guard" was very pleasant and the renovations were pleasant to see the turn around. But that is probably the only good things I can say about this building.
Do not live here! This place is awful I have lived here for 2 years and has gotten really bad. When you first move in it seems ok but after a while you notice it is not all that nice. One of the major problems we had was with the air conditioner. When it got warm out we started using the air conditioner. Immediately after we turned it on my boyfriend and I started getting extremely sick. We told the office and said they would send someone up to change he filter. Yes, someone came up and changed the filter but it did not help. We were still getting very sick we told them again, still not very concerned but after complaining a few times someone came and replaced our entire unit. That is the one good thing they did fix it. However, fast forward a few months and I started noticing obscene amounts of mold in the corners of the windows, in the bathroom and on the sides of the air/heat unit. I clean often and even after trying to get rid of the mold it continued to return. Yet again we went to the office and told them about the issue and said we thought maybe it was because the filter in the bathroom has never been changed. They sent someone up and when we told him the issue he said, "that fan doesn't go anywhere, of course you are going to have mold". Are you kidding me!? He did not change the filter on the fan that says, "change every 6 months", and told us that we are going to have mold, basically tough luck. This is absolutely ridiculous. My boyfriend and I have had several bronchial problems and my parents are convinced it is because of the mold in the apartment. I know that our apartment is not the only one with this problem. I have heard several people talking about how disgusting it is that there is mold in all the apartments. So as you can see it is no use to risk your health to live somewhere. They continue to spend loads of money on painting the walls and renovating the laundry rooms, maybe they should worry about the mold and the residents health first. I am so happy to leave when my lease is up and hopefully feel much better.
During tour...told they are very strict on college students renting with additional security deposits required, parental co-signers, etc...and because of this there are abt 10% of the residents s college students - LIES - 75% are college students. Parties in the "gated" and "secured" parking lot - 500 "kids" out there, until the 10 cop cars rolled in, multiple fire trucks (because the mass of underage kids came running into the "secure" building and pulled the fire alarms at least 8 times in one afternoon/evening, peeing everywhere - even setting up a "bathroom" between the 2 dumpsters. 24/7 security - LIES - they show up sometime after 7pm...NO ONE here on the weekends until 7pm...thus the "parking lot parties"....I feel bad for the maintenance staff that has to clean up on Mondays. Free Directv - all the most popular channels - LIES - ESPN's studios are 11miles from here and we have NO ESPN channels, NO sports channels unless you want to watch NFL Network during the summer, no HGTV, Bravo, DIY, etc...FREE WI-FI - LIES - NOT in my apartment - seems I'm too far from the router and they haven't fixed it yet (luckily there is an Xfinity hotspot that I can tag into), hmmmm - what else - "kids" running up and down the hallways, running up and down the stairs, oh - roof deck closes at 8 pm - unless the college kids prop the door open and run up and down, dancing, drinking, and partying until 3am...if you are a Professional looking for a place...look somewhere else!!
Property Manager at Newington Tower, Responded To This Review
I am sorry to hear you have had an unpleasant experience in our community. The building is under new Management and will be changing to a strictly professional demographic over the coming months, this will eliminate the issues you addressed regarding unruly behavior by certain tenants. As for the cable and internet, these are additional services the building offers free of charge, they are not intended to be a replacement for premium packages but rather a starter service for those who do not require the fastest internet or a diversity of channels, I apologize if this was miscommunicated to your during your initial tour. Management is committed to working with our tenants to continually improve our community, I encourage you to reach out to the on-site management office in the future with any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Property Manager
Over all, I'm pretty happy living here. The worst parts of this building are the students underfoot, but once I make it through the parking lot and the elevator, I have no problem in my unit, which is pretty nice and really quiet. The kitchen has a surprising amount of counterspace, and we decided to go without having a kitchen table even though we could probably fit it if we needed to. And there's a proper pantry, so we don't have to lose cabinets to food storage. And enough closets - I *love* the double, deep closets in both bedrooms. Enough room for all my clothes some for my partner! If we had more than two cars, I'd be upset about the parking, but as it is, I can call the office if I need one of their "temporary permits" and they're willing to deliver. They're really strict about the parking situation, which I can see as the pain it is but also means that if I or my partner end up coming home late, we'll be able to park and not have to hunt for a possibly non-existent spot. If you can deal with kids being kids in the parking lot, then you'll be fine.
Moved in about a month ago, great location. A lot of students, but they seem to be mostly in their own spaces. Parking for overnight guests can be a pain, but not any worse than other places I looked. They seem to be updating the apartments slowly, so there are workmen in on a regular basis. The staff was super helpful the whole process with anything I needed, and they're good about letting me know about all the packages I get. Recommend for professionals who need something convenient and comfortable and who are willing to put up with college kids in the lobby.
Safe, gated, spacious 2 bd, 2 bath. Convenient to express bus route, and downtown. Night entertainment, restaurants and stores all within close proximity. Great location. Close to highway, routes 91 & 84.
2 Bedrooms and 2 Baths, Kitchen and Living Room in between rooms. If you are attending CCSU and have a roommate this would be a great place for you to live. They have washer and dryer amenities on each floor. Garbage disposal is easy and they provide gated and ungated parking. It has lots of security with cameras that are always being watched. The playground and basketball hoop in the back is a nice place to take children to play in a safe environment. Gym amenities and Dish TV. If you and a friend are looking for a safe place to live this is it.
