Property Ratings at Newport Landing Apartments
I wanted so badly to have something nice to say about this community but it wouldn’t be fair to prospective tenants. For starters, there is indeed a roach issue and I was not informed that I’d be subleasing to them. The building I was assigned to was INFESTED when I moved in. Every time I turned around, another roach. If you’ve never seen the movie, Joe’s Apartment, watch it before moving here... allow it to serve as a brochure. After several months of treatment and hundreds of dollars spent in out of pocket costs, I desperately asked the leasing staff what else could be done to get rid of the roaches and they replied “I don’t know, you’ll have to take it up with management.” - And with that, I never got a solution. The roaches know they aren’t going anywhere that’s why they’re so comfortable. There is black mold in the bathrooms that they just paint over. If you WFH beware! Our lights have been out hours at a time with no way to work, cook or stay warm and residents were not notified. Yes, they are affordable, but read the reviews, we’re telling you why…
Very Pleased With Our One Bedroom and The Quiet Surrounding. The Property Location Is Ideal For Anyone Without Their Own Personal Transportation. Shopping Center Is In Walking Distance and HRT Bus Access Is Wonderful. Loving It With Friendly Neighbors and The Quietness.
On August 7th 2021 my washing machine stopped working. Was told that they are only handling emergency calls. The following week I am woken to banging downstairs. I guess renovating the vacant apartment below me is an emergency. 34 days later it was replaced when the rest of the buildings appliances got replaced. Then my account is charged twice for rent. I received a notice that my rent was late and that I had to pay 170 something. When I asked about it they had nothing to tell me besides I had to pay 50 bucks for the site sending the second payment back or I would be charged the full amount for rent being late. I would stay away unless it was them or the street.
This is lengthy but please read..I waited awhile to write this review because I was afraid it would be taken down but please be aware!!! I applied back in August of 2018, for approved and paid a deposit to move in October 1st. On my move in day I got the keys to my apartment and I went in to look at it and it was filthy, the vents were dirty, it had spider web and cob webs in the window, the kitchen fridge has food and hair in it. I immediately went to the office and spoke with the manager who went over and looked at the apartment and said that it was not up to par so she tried to reach the cleaning lady, at this point I was beyond disgusted and just wanted my money back so that’s what I told her. She said that she would have to email the property owner to see if it was possible because I had signed the lease. So I went back to my current apartment that luckily I still had the keys to and emailed her to inform her again that since the apartment was not move in ready that I wanted my firsts month rent back and did not want to live there so I could have a paper trail, she emailed me back and told me that I could come get my money order and to bring her keys back. When I showed up her attitude was nasty but I didn’t care. She said the apartment wasn’t that bad I could have went over and cleaned it out really fast. NO THANK YOU! Please check your apartment before you sign the lease and the parking sucks and people stand in the hoops FYI.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 1 BR/1 BA with stackable washer/dryer. Safe community that is quiet and offers pluses like pool, playground, dog/cat friendly. The apartment was very comfortable, and I had no problems at all. Entryways are kept safe and clean as well. Great location to get to all essentials for living in Newport News. Highly recommend Newport Landing Apartments!!

This place has gone down hill fast to us. We have has so many problems from this place. First is the dog poop everywhere. Second we are non-smoking people but our neighbor does smoke and it comes into our apartment and smells for days, we told our landlord about this problems and her famous words There is nothing we can do. (WOW).. but the entrance to the the apartments says no smoking. Our neighbor is so loud and wakes us up all during the night and I swear it sounds like he is dancing in boots, we've told the landlord about this to but her famous words There is nothing we can do. This place is a joke .

Newport landing apartments, every time i have a problem. rather it was my cause or not, they have always been very quick to fix the problem. area is well kept and very friendly to military families. I felt the need to get the word out rather than just leaving blank 5 star rating after 7 months. this is good place and recommend this place to incoming PSCing families. the staff has always greeted me with a smile and been very pleasant when i have come into the office with ether paying my rent or dealing a home related problem. maintenance team has been quick to fix what ever problems professionally and effectively. this coming transfer season think about calling the office asking about a place here.

I like living there. It's very quite and neighbors are very friendly and pleasant! It's a nice area where I can walk with my dog! I feel safe and staff is friendly towards me and I haven't had any complaints! I live in a two bedroom with a den with stackable washer and dryer in master bedroom and it's very spacious! There's plenty of areas where you can shop and go out to eat! Always loved Newport News and still do. It's a nice area.

Hoping to make this my first place I heard some really great things about this place and I would love to call this my first home. I heard the staff here will work with you and to me that's really good because some places the staff are really rude...Really looking forward to calling this my new home.
I love my spacious 1 bedroom apartment. The hardwood floors make it look even more elegant and roomy. All the appliances are brand new as well as the bathroom. There is a full size stackable washer/dryer combo which comes in handy. The landscape of the community is well kept. The location is so convenient to shopping and work. I would recommend Newport Landing to anyone interested in location, price and style.
