Property Ratings at Newport Square Apartments
Not a good place to live. Bedbugs cockroaches, lot of loud nose and smoking. Water leakages. Area is dirty.
I lived in an apartment here with my sister and it was horrible! The place was infested with cockroaches!! And I promise I am not exaggerating. Pest control came every Thursday but would only spary ONE cabinet. We ended up buying our own traps and every time we came back from classes, there would be dead roaches all over the kitchen and even the bathroom. When my dad bought a bigger trap, it was always covered with hundreds of roaches, and they were always piled up on each other. We always kept the place very clean and didn’t leave food out, but that didn’t work. I was so disgusted and horrified of the roaches and with the place that I stayed with my bf till the end of the school year. Parts in the apartment also broke easily, the water would go off a couple times because of constant repairs and you will always hear traffic from outside. If you still want to rent from the apartment, good luck.
They don't take any maintenance problems seriously, they take noise complaints without giving warning or even evidence of a disturbance. The pool is also in view of literally everyone in the building, awkward for me.
The apartment was dirty when we moved in. We basically filled up the maintenance move in check list with things wrong about the apartment. This past winter our best wasn't working and the maintenance man had every intention in leaving us overnight with no heat until we said he wasn't allowed to do that to a tenant being as cold as it was. They lost our rent check and we had to pay for it to be sent to us in the mall to pay them again. My girlfriends birthday present from her mom out of state was in the office locked up for several days because there was never anybody in the office for us to get it. People warned us while moving out things into the apartment not to stay here. We should have listened.
If you enjoy your privacy, peace and quite, nice poilte management and maintenance to speak with - this is absolutely not the place you want to call home. Probably some of the most unconcerned, unprofessional people I've ever met/spoke with. Even calling corporate you get no help when you need it. We have constant notices on our door with less than 24 notice telling us they have maintenance issues, shutting off the electric and water. Coming into your apartments for random "inspections". Loosing your rent check and not taking responsibility for it. Never in the office or answering the phones. Poor parking lot and landuary room up keep. People hanging out on the steps being loud all hours of the day and into the evening. Also when we first moved in the apartment was filthy lots of wall, floor and door imperfections. Some of the people in the leasing office work at two locations so they use that as their excuse for never being there when you need them or answering the phone. Recently my friends were here visiting from out of town. We told them if they were going to rent a car they needed a parking pass. So while my boyfriend and I were at work (during normal business hours) my friends went downstairs after 2 days of having the rental car on the property with no parking pass. Told the leasing guy the car was there and he said they needed one if the actual tenants there with them to get the parking pass. That same day I got off work at 230pm and returned home to find out no one was in the office to give us a parking pass. So that night my friends rental car got towed and they had to pay almost $300 to get their car out and it was 2 miles down the road. In other words this it not a place I'd send my worst enemy to live. Thanks for your time.
